I ranked El Toro and Voyage right next to each other, but gave the higher ranking to Voyage. Even if it wasn't better than Toro (which I think it is), I still would give credit to the ride simply because it opened with the park, not 3 hours late every day! But it doesn't matter, Balder is king!

Awww Derek...that hurts!!!!

I understand where you're coming from as it's really hard to judge the coasters on their own especially when they're at parks that can be VERY frustrating, but we have to try and remember that it's the Wood Coaster Poll, not the Six Flags screwed over the nice Intamin Ride Poll!

Trust me, it hurts me deep inside when I have to rank Storm Runner so high even though it's at Hershey!

I made my gf vote. I think she's gonna mess the poll up. She put the Beastie (PKI) over a lot of top rated rides like, say, Thunderhead. Though, she said that if the poll had the new name "Fairly Odd Coaster", she wouldn't have ranked it all that high.

Oh well.

In case anyone didn't notice, the Voyage won the 2006 In-Season Woodie Poll. It beat El Toro by quite a bit in that, and slightly edged out Balder. I think Mitch has these results down now that the real poll is taking place.

Personally, I prefer Avalanche @ Timber Falls over Voyage. I love that thing. I haven't ridden El Toro or Balder yet to compare it to those, but will ride El Toro next June.

Voyage is a great ride, but too inconsistent to be #1 for me.

^ As does Gwazi. Besides, why question it here? Contact Mitch if you really want to do something about it.

Just a rhetorical question - to try to reorganize the whole thing while in progress would be near impossible, and would also be relatively pointless since most people rank it near or at the bottom, anyway.

The only real changes for me is El Toro and Dania Beach Hurricane. The rest of the coasters didn't wow me at all (SFNE's Cyclone and Thunderbolt).

Ghostrider hasn't moved down for me at all. It was running fantastic during Haunt. But I do remember quite a rough ride earlier in the year, but not so bad that it took away from the ride experience. I love that ride.

El Toro might actually take top honors, I haven't made up my mind yet. It's either that or Tonnere de Zeus. Although I like my wooden coasters rough, and thus I feel like El Toro is cheating by being on the wood ballot

^glad to hear GhostRider was running better at haunt, but it took the biggest plummet in my rankings from #11 last year to #27 this year.

^It was probably running the best I had ever ridden it. It was running crazy fast, and much smoother than it had before. I forgot that this coaster actually has some insane airtime in the back until Haunt.

Got my vote in, ranked 71 rides.

I basically group and sort until I'm happy with the order. I group together my top rides, middle tier rides, kiddy coasters, and rides that I'd like see burned to the ground(Beast, Son of Beast, etc). Then just constantly shuffle until I'm happy.

IMO

Best woodie-----El Toro....just looked a hair better than Balder

Best Steel -----MILLENNIUM FORCE!

Looked? Have you *ridden* either El Toro or Balder? The point of this poll is to rate what you've ridden. Just because something looks great doesn't mean it's a great coaster. And, just because something looks lame doesn't mean it sucks.

Is anyone using a mac to fill this out? I'm assuming TextEdit is the right thing to use...

You just want to use the most barebones text editor that you have, which doesn't get all cute trying to add formatting and what not. The less features the better! The command line editor pico would be great for this, but I don't think Mac OS includes that in the standard install.

I tried downloading and using Mac notepad, but Mitch emailed me back saying it's not working right. I guess my ballot won't count this year! Stupid Mac!
