hyyyper Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 ^Could you upload the track that you are trying to put trough AHG, so that we know exactly what you're talking about.
Eric_Smith Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Keep in mind that I am not even close to done. Feel free to leave any comments. Â Please note that I take the elements that I am AHGing and make a separate trackfile. Â If you can figure out the problem, please make a separate trackfile, and do not alter anything else. Â Thank you in advance. ProjectB&M.nltrack
dr.gumbo Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I think the problem is that the lead-in is poorly shaped. I fiddled around with it a bit and it started to come out much better after AHG it.
Eric_Smith Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 May I ask you please to post some screenshots of before and after AHGing? Also, what steps did you use to fix the issue?
dr.gumbo Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 The problem was that you didn't give helix a proper lead-in meaning the AHG had hardly any space to alter the banking to eliminate laterals. Try and create proper lead-ins to your rides so that this doesn't happen. Â Also, if you can find them, try and use some of loefet's 3d Track shapes. They help a ton when building elements like these.
Eric_Smith Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 ^Now when you build, do you leave the banking at zero degrees or did you just do that for this?
dr.gumbo Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 When using white for the AHG, you always leave the track un-banked because the AHG banks it for you.
Eric_Smith Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 When using white for the AHG, you always leave the track un-banked because the AHG banks it for you. Do you happen to have the work you did? I would love to use it for future reference!
coasterlover420 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 When using the AHG to smooth a track, it is always better if the segments are fewer and longer. This creates more room for error and acts as a filter rather than having to up the filter value to the extreme. Â Try this: OUT.nltrack
Eric_Smith Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 When using the AHG to smooth a track, it is always better if the segments are fewer and longer. This creates more room for error and acts as a filter rather than having to up the filter value to the extreme. Try this:  But I have noticed that the fewer the segments, the less correct the banking is.  Try a small number of segments and look at the banking. Then try a large number of segments, and the banking is more.
DBru Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 ^As long as the banking is enough to keep the lateral g's down, it doesn't really matter. And if the banking is NOT enough to keep the lats down, just play with the entrance/exit speeds until you get banking that you are satisfied with. Â Â I have a question about AHG, though...what actually is the filter? Does it just help to smooth your track?
coasterlover420 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Banking problems have nothing to do with messing with speeds or segment lengths. As long as the speed is accurate and the segments are a decent length, you're fine. If you don't think the banking is extreme enough, then raise the Precision value. Typically for something such as a B&M floorless I would put it on 8 or 9. 6 usually isn't enough for twisty coasters. And also, if you up the precision, up the filter value too. If I use precision at, say 8, I'd probably have the filter between 200 and 400. Â ^Filter is the tolerance for banking transitions between segments. If the filter is higher, the banking will be more smooth, but less accurate. If the filter is lower, it will be more accurate to the banking specification that the Precision defines, but will be much less smooth.
Xpress Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I use precisions of 10 or so and filters of between 500 and 1000. I have found those yield the smoothest tracks, and provide the best bankings.
DBru Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Does anyone know where NL screenshots are saved to on Windows Vista?
dr.gumbo Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 ^ They're saved as compatibility files (go to the usual folder and press the compatibility files button near the top of the window).
Xpress Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I would tell you, as I'm on a Vista right now, but NL is on my portable hard drive, and everything is saved to it
hyyyper Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 The screenshots you make go into ..../NoLimits Coaster/screenshots. Regardsless of its location.
Eric_Smith Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Ok guys, I need you to do some searchin... I had downloaded the tack Desert Race off of coaster sims and loved the brake fins that came with it. The bad news is that my computer hard drive got fried about a month ago and lost ALL of my scenery. Â Does anybody have Desert Race saved and can send me the track+scenery not as a trackpack but in a zip file( track packager is not installed and my profile on the computer does not allow me to install things)?
jpdupuis Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Hi,  I looked up on the forum for the white environnement on NL. Can someone please send it to me  Thanks Jpdupuis
stevabeeb Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 On nolimits I know I can press 0 and i see it records, but I CANNOT find out where it saves!!!! Â HELP!!
hyyyper Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I believe in the screenshot folder. It would seem the most logical place for them to appear. I could be wrong though, I haven't recorded something in ages.
