Yesterday there was a 5.3 earthquake in Israel.

One of my biigest fears are erathquakes and I keep having this dream when there is a huge earthquake and I am running outside in the last second before everything collapse.

The thing is when it was reality I just freezed and couldnt moved. I was so so so afraid and it took me few hours to get back to myslef. Even now one day later I am still very concerend.

I know there are people from LA and more places with earthquakes. How do you deal with it ? I was really under anxiety yesterday.

Yeah, there was one just here in Terre Haute, IN. Very small, but big enough for me. I do not like them. When I get specific information, I will post what it was.

EDIT: 5.4, epicenter near West Salem, IL. 3.1 miles deep.

from www.tribstar.com

TERRE HAUTE — A confirmed 5.4 earthquake has rocked people awake in Indiana.

The ground shook in Terre Haute, Brazil, Indianapolis and Evansville about 5:39 a.m. Eastern time Friday. The shaking lasted about 10 seconds.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The U.S. Geologic Survey Web site says the quake was centered near West Salem, Illinois, or about 40 miles northwest of Evansville, Indiana.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., residents in Brazil in Clay County reported that their homes shook for about 45 seconds. Windows rattled and walls shook knocking decorations to the floor. The tremor was strong enough to wake some from their sleep.

I've never been in a direct earthquake, I had felt the tremors from the earthquake that hit Plattsburgh, New York back in 2003. I was waking up to go to Six Flags and I was walking out of my room, next thing I know I see my bed shaking and I just froze in place. Once everything stopped my sister yells from her room "What was that!?" and Dad yells back from his room "probably an earthquake, go back to bed."

I've people around here (Lubbock, TX) talk about the 3.3 that rattled the area two years back. Personally I smile a little bit when there is a quake that size, and people who have never felt on over react. The classic is always when they say, "I thought my house was going to fall down."

I grew up in Southern California so I'm very used to earthquakes. We lost out home in the 1994 Northridge quake, and since then a 3.0 just doesn't really impress. To be fair however a 5.2 would be enough to get me out of bed!

Yeah, that really scared me this morning! I woke up to the house shaking and door raddling, but by the time I got up and realized what was happening it stopped. Apparently an after-shock happened around 11:15 but I didn't feel it at school.

The best part was the local television stations continuously replaying the anchormen doing the morning news when it happended, and seeing them screaming and freaking out! It just seemed to take everyone off guard since its rather uncommon to feel them here, even though we are somewhat near a fault line.

I haven't slept well at all for the last week and a half, so I was actually awake when the quake "hit". Now I'm in Chicago, which is like 300 miles north of the center, but I definitely felt it .. not that there was much to feel. It was as if someone was gently rocking my bed - it was actually kind of nice!

Fortunately I'd felt a weak quake about 15 years ago in LA, so I knew instantly what it was, and I wasn't worried at all. However I was still very surprised.

Very cool..

That's actually exactly how it felt a few years ago when there was a 3ish quake around here.

I was sitting on my bed reading, and then it started to shake lightly. The windows started to rattle as well. Just thought to myself "well this is odd" and then it was over.

The window rattling actually didn't phase me at first, as buses going by the house would cause the same affect. It was when it kept going that I took notice.

Yeah I felt it too, and like Cameron said, it was as though someone was gently rocking my bed. It was cool as I've slept through the last earthquakes that have hit the area at night(we had a similar sized one last year). When it happened, I wasn't sure if I was imagining it, or if it was a real earthquake, but when I head the news on the radio, all my doubts went away.

Strange coincidence: the earthquake today happened 102 years after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
