robbalvey
^ What do you mean by "pipeline coaster" do you mean Togo's Ultra Twister? Here are quite a few: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21216&start=220 Â
Gutterflower
If you mean the heartline coasters theres only one. Its at Al Sha'ab park in Kuwait. although it used to be at Lotte Sky Plaza in Korea.  http://rcdb.com/id1604.htm  I have plenty of pictures if you want. ECZenith
Could you post photos of this ride here? I've only seen a couple of them and they didn't show much of the ride. It would be great to get an idea of the layout.
Gutterflower
here you go all photos are compliments of Intamin these are from when it was in Korea  the ride is run by wheels u can see around the track powering it along Its simple layout

ECZenith
Wow, I never realized it had such cool looking trains! You're right, the layout is simple but I would love it due to all the heartlining it has. Why did this concept have to die?!
pvcoasterguy
Perhaps he's talking about the Arrow Pipeline coaster- a failed prototype design. Â This is a scan from a book, which is the only picture I could find of the coaster. The coaster never went into production due to high costs and low capacity and an extremely rough ride. Here is what the book says: Â Roller Coaster: Wooden and Steel Coasters, Twisters, and Corkscrews, David Bennett (copyright 1998) Â "Toomer still hopes that one day the Pipline Coater, whose track configuration resembles a DNA molecule, will be built commercially. It is a continuously spiraling car, with the rider being spun in an Archimedes' screw motion, as the car speeds along the track. Will there be anyone man enough to ride it?"- Pg. 54 Â Seems like the cars would spin, like a spinning coaster, also. Â Photo copyright Tom Maglione. I take no credit for the photo whatsoever. (Sorry about the low quality of the scan). Arrow's Pipeline Coaster

Astat
If you have the video America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrills in 3D, there's an interview segment with Ron Toomer that shows some footage of that prototype Arrow Pipeline coaster. steel
Oh god, its tagline is "Spin yourself high." Â That must be why we're at war with Iraq. They have drugs hidden in their coasters.

scorchedflower
That David Bennet book is realy good, I'd recommend it to anyone Tells you how a coaster works, and all the great rollercoaser designers along a timeline, along with descriptions and photos of some current roller coasters. They probably rejected the plans because it was too loud or high, lol...

pkdcoaster
The footage on the Americas greastest is stupid...just shows the structure rotting away. I have an old coaster show (National Geographic) with alot of footage of the Arrow Pipeline running as well as a POV. I will try to get something together for you guys shortly. Guest
Cool footage, thanks for sharing it After having seen the ride in action, I'm glad Alton Towers didn't go with the pipeline coaster in the end. All of the transitions and elements just seemed so...mechanical. There was no real flow from one element to the next and it kinda reminded me of a coaster in RCT.
