Perhaps he's talking about the Arrow Pipeline coaster- a failed prototype design.

This is a scan from a book, which is the only picture I could find of the coaster. The coaster never went into production due to high costs and low capacity and an extremely rough ride. Here is what the book says:

Roller Coaster: Wooden and Steel Coasters, Twisters, and Corkscrews, David Bennett (copyright 1998)

"Toomer still hopes that one day the Pipline Coater, whose track configuration resembles a DNA molecule, will be built commercially. It is a continuously spiraling car, with the rider being spun in an Archimedes' screw motion, as the car speeds along the track. Will there be anyone man enough to ride it?"- Pg. 54

Seems like the cars would spin, like a spinning coaster, also.

Photo copyright Tom Maglione. I take no credit for the photo whatsoever. (Sorry about the low quality of the scan).

If you have the video America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrills in 3D, there's an interview segment with Ron Toomer that shows some footage of that prototype Arrow Pipeline coaster.

I want to see that...I love old coaster footage, I remember seeing the Arrow suspended prototype footage.Crazy Stuff

Alton towers were going to get one of these but "Unfortunately" the council regected their planns and then nemesis was planned and they accpted. I would have prefered thje pipeline lol.

(Just kidding by the way BEFORE anyone flames me)

The pipeline coaster was rejected due to problems with the design and the lack of a thrilling enough ride according to John Wardley who was working on the plans for Alton Towers.

Cool footage, thanks for sharing it After having seen the ride in action, I'm glad Alton Towers didn't go with the pipeline coaster in the end. All of the transitions and elements just seemed so...mechanical. There was no real flow from one element to the next and it kinda reminded me of a coaster in RCT.
