Mdcastle Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Also of note they put in LED light bulbs in a lot of the shoebox pathway fixtures in the off season. They didn't bother with the ones at the very back.
RCjunkie Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 ^ Nice observation. Easily could be a predictor of construction happening back there soon.
Lightning Rod Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 The weather is supposed to be near 95 to 100 degrees this weekend and humid. I'm curious to see how many people will be at Soak City this weekend. I have a feeling it will be at capacity this weekend and during the week next week with temperatures staying in the low to upper 90's till Tuesday. This weekend will be a test to see how Soak City will handle with all the people I think were going to see another Soak City expansion for 2018 and maybe a thrill ride frisbee. Perfect weekend to ride Thunder Canyon and The Wave to cool off. Anyone think Soak City will be at capacity crowds on Saturday?
Bzurn Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I don't know if this has anything to do with the expansion but I saw Choice Electrical working on something in the entrance area. What does this mean? What would this do?
Lightning Rod Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Is that photo right by the Wild Thing turn around front of the park?

EthanM Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I don't know if this has anything to do with the expansion but I saw Choice Electrical working on something in the entrance area. What does this mean? What would this do? It could mean that the park is getting an updated/new entrance area in the coming years. But I can't really tell it just looks like there either rewiring stuff or moving it around. *Edit* That is what I saw Bzurn (referring to your picture).
RCjunkie Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I don't think this has anything to do with the recently approved expansion. Choice Electrical has two approved city work permits currently open for Valleyfair. One is for work on a 'Security Shack' issued on 4/24 and the other was issued on 5/17 for '2017 Maintenance Permit'. Neither of those sound related to the approved expansion project or near the back of the park so they are probably just normal maintenance work for 2017. I don't get the 'Security Shack' one, are they building a new building? Or is there one near the this location where they are doing this digging? Again, I don't think this has anything to do with the proposed expansion but these are the types of reports that may help us guess ahead of time when an announcement will be made and about what so keep on posting and we can have some fun guessing/predicting.
CaptainUnknown Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 ^I'm thinking the security shack references the one built at the employee entrance, unless there was one built near the front of the park.
Cedarfair22 Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Cedar Fair has signed a agreement with the Provision security system company. They are most known for the TSA body scanners they make...? What could this mean...??? I’m confused as to why they signed a new contract when the metal detectors work just fine.
Bzurn Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Just heard that VF Halloween Haunt will be removing a haunted house this year!

The ProVision body scanners are made by L3.
garyman6 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Just saw a report on Screamscape of heavy equipment showing up in the employee parking lot. Can anyone confirm that and maybe send a pic? Also, CGA submitted a permit for a 100' coaster. Any guesses as to what it may be?

Also, CGA submitted a permit for a 100' coaster. Any guesses as to what it may be? I can't confirm the heavy equipment at VF, but I'll be stopping by the park tonight after work (weather permitting) and will look around. As far as CGA getting a 100' coaster, that could be anything. Screamscape said it was planned for the area formerly occupied by Invertigo. If that's the case, and the new coaster doesn't go beyond that plot, it's going to be something compact.
VF15 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Can confirm that there is some construction machinery in the employee lot, though it could be for anything at this point (not necessarily for a new ride) so I wouldn't get too excited yet. Also noticed some smaller equipment in the land between the dorms and the main parking lot but they usually move dirt around there every year or so for some reason.
Mdcastle Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 If they wanted to mess with us they'd dump a few sections of B&M track in the field by the front gate.

Donomike05 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I can you confirm that heavy machinery is in the Valleyfair employee parking lot and is working on removing dirt piles in the back of the parking lot where the new road is supposed to let out. Also many parts of the back area is blocked off.
Drbcoaster Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 If they wanted to mess with us they'd dump a few sections of B&M track in the field by the front gate. That would just be cruel.

CaptainUnknown Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Take this how you will, but the majority of rides without an autospiel got one this year. The only three rides without one are: Riptide, MRVR, and Supercat.
