They could probably use that land in the bottom right corner as more parking spaces if they decide to remove part of the current lot for park expansion. It would have been a good idea to build the waterpark there originally (if they owned that land at the time), but it's obviously too late for that.

An idea popped into my head the second I saw that extra space: a B&M floorless, wing, or invert with the station in route 76, lift going over the entrance drive in, and the coaster occupying that space. Also if high roller ever collapsed or something I can see them expanding west.

High Roller is not going to randomly collapse. Even though it's the oldest coaster in the park, it's perfectly safe and structurally sound.

It looks like they're preparing to pour concrete for the new path.

Had a Job interview at the park today for a ride operator. The old sign's still up out front. Not sure if this means anything or not, but there was a lone, unattended bulldozer between the main entrance and the employee housing.

Any noticeable ground disturbances?

It's really starting to look nice! Finally a decent water park

If they're doing anything noteworthy, coaster or not, they likely hit the drawing boards before the 2014 season. It takes years of planning for a coaster, it's not something that can be ordered up with a few months' notice.

Do you guys think they've hit the drawing board for 2016 yet? I hope they are working on something awesome!

From what I've heard, the process of a park getting a new coaster takes about two years, so if we are getting one in 2016, I'm sure they already have it planned out. If 2016 is not a coaster year, they could still be in the planning stages for something else, but I wouldn't know.

On another note, I think the park really needs to do something about the graffiti in Renegade's queue line because it is disgusting to look at. The queue has the potential to look very nice, but the graffiti ruins it.

This is starting to sound like the Darien Lake thread.

Parks don't add big, record breaking rides because they "deserve" it. They add rides they see fit for the park that will bring in the most money. If Cedar Fair doesn't see Valleyfair as a good investment in 2016, then they won't get a coaster. There are other parks that are heavily rumored to get major investments next year- Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion, even Michigan's Adventure.

and to add to this, parks add attractions based on the money they are currently bringing in. One ride does not turn a park around.

^^VF15, I really don't think that they can do much about it, other than add those horrendous white plastic pieces everywhere (and people still put crap on those).

Unfortunately, people will always be stupid and careless.

The graffiti is not a big problem for me, I never really noticed it in the renegade queue. I noticed some on the High Roller, but it was very minimal. IMO it's not really an issue, and I don't see VF doing anything about it in the future.

If it gets particularly bad then they might paint it, but the graffiti that Valleyfair has is negligible at this point, probably due to great operations keeping lines moving. It's certainly not Six Flags.

RMC makes both wooden and steel coasters. Outlaw Run and Goliath are both wooden coasters, while New Texas Giant, Iron Rattler, Medusa, Wicked Cyclone, and Twisted Colossus are steel coasters that use the structures of former wooden coasters. Both their wooden and steel coasters use I-Box track.

Back on topic, I get that graffiti isn't the biggest of Valleyfair's problems, but they can't completetly ignore it. They could at least get rid of some of it now so that Renegade's queue doesn't look like a Six Flags park in a few more years.

Just nitpicking, but I-box track is steel track. Goliath, Outlaw Run, and Wildfire (pending delays) use topper track, which is a steel plate on a wood stack, which is the source of all controversy whether or not these coasters classify as wood (and wheel type). RMC topper track is also used to refurb old/rough wooden coasters.

RMC hybrid coasters are steel coasters, through and through, as it is determined by the track type.

Whoops, I stand corrected. The I-Box track is only for their steel coasters.

The new slide tower slides have been added to VF's Fast Lane system for this season.

Hmm... no Excalibur. I know it's always a walk on, but do you think they never did the fast lane on it because it could be going soon?

No, it could be because they couldn't add the ability to have it have FastLane. Back in 2012, the parks were given a budget specifically for FastLane and ADA improvements, and it could of been too expensive for them to add the separate FastLane queue with its location. It was the same thing with Corkscrew at Michigan's Adventure. Was originally one of the FastLane rides when they announced it, but in the end, they couldn't add a separate FastLane queue because there was nowhere to connect it up to the station.

This may seem like a weird question, but what are some non-ride additions or changes you'd like to see in Valleyfair?

For me, I guess I'd like to see some more midway beautification, with more vivid paint on buildings outside of Planet Snoopy, as they feel kind of washed out by comparison.

Popcorn lighting in high traffic areas, it's such a nice summery touch. Jumping fountains on select paths for the sheer awesomeness (assuming winter doesn't ruin them).

I'd also want to see a large arbor covered in vines on a stretch of path somewhere. I love it when a park has one, it creates a real sense of a gateway from one area to the next. It could make that little stretch going toward Wild Thing feel more wild, or tack it onto the path leading to the tunnel under the access road, and really embrace how it makes the back of the park feel like a different place.

On Valleyfair's YouTube channel, only 3 coasters have POVs posted: Steel Venom, Corkscrew, and Renegade. Could the lack of other POVs mean something? You'd expect one up for Wild Thing for sure. Perhaps indicative of potential modifications to the ride (why film it if it's going to get changed?). Excalibur lacking a POV might also indicate it being on the way out...or this could all be nothing. Probably nothing.
