I would like to see the wave become part of the water park because I love the ride but I hate being wet in my clothes and imagine lots of people share my opinion. In the water park it wouldn't matter if you got wet and I think it would be very popular. I would ride it over and over.

If a coaster replaced wave for wow factor at the front of the park I hope it isn't lame. I would hope for a gatekeeper entrance or better but I don't know if that is likely. Does anyone know if a rollercoaster in the cedar fair chain has a splash down?

Diamondback. And sorry, but a Gatekeeper-esque entrance isn't going to happen. Not on their budget, and Cedar Point will always have the biggest/best of the new additions/upgrades. Nothing against Valleyfair; it's just how it is.

On second thought I think ValleyFair has a decent entrance for right now but a coaster could still interact with it. What I mean is the entire entrance doesn't have to be redone but a few upgrades would be nice. It just seems like right now there are lots of better ways to spend the money.

Sure, a Gatekeeper-like entrance (with pillars and everything) probably won't happen, but I don't see why you couldn't have a coaster element go over the entrance like with Fury 325. For example, if it's an invert, it could have a zero-G roll over the entrance plaza.

I think that the entrance is nice as is for now (I'd like more water features, but that's me). The areas immediately after it could use work. The midway from the carousel to Monster, and the midway/amphitheatre area are more important to focus on in my opinion. Cedar Fair has been doing a lot of midway remodeling, which is promising. I'd like to see them remove that "Welcome to Valleyfair" sign blocking the carousel--it's redundant after you pass under like 3 Valleyfair signs to get to that point. I don't see a coaster flying over the entrance until Dinos leaves, so 2020ish, but it would be pretty cool.

Totally agree on the midway area's. I thought I was the only one that thought the "Welcome to Valleyfair" sign is redundant and cluttering up the entrance while hiding the carousel. If they really feel they need that sign then they can move it or put it high on an arch above the foot traffic and not take up prime real estate. Dumping the sign, refurbing the carousel and making better use of that space which is the first impression you get when entering the park would be welcomed by me for sure.

Well I think it is likely we will be seeing more parts of ValleyFair being remodeled since they just turned the Steel Venom area into route 76. Another thing is I think we may see our next flat go in one of three open spaces:

1. Everybody's first go to option: The WT turn around

2. The empty scrambler space near the entrance

3. The space where the tiller whirl used to live by the wild thing station.

A Windseeker could go in any of these spaces and since Cedar Fair is giving them out like candy I expect one to fill in one of those spaces in the next five years.

^^But there have been no new WindSeekers in the chain for the last two years. They're definitely not giving out like candy, and I'm fairly certain they're done with adding new ones completely with all the problems they've had.

Worlds of Fun just got one in 2014.

That was the one from Knott's Berry Farm.

The chain has had bigger investments to make, though. That hotel renovation alone is 60 million at least, not counting the huge coasters being built simultaneously. I expect once the renovations are done investments in other parks will be able to accelerate as more capital is freed up.

Maybe, but for different reasons. The Breakers renovations were funded wholly by the sale of a former CF waterpark by Knott's. It isn't eating up any of the yearly capital for 2014/15. However, I don't think there will be a $30 million coaster in 2016, which would allow for the possibility of two coasters next year in the chain (one likely being at Cedar Point, the other potentially at Canadas Wonderland). There is still the possibility of a third, only time will tell.

Ok maybe a Windseeker isn't as likely as I thought but we could still get one or another flat in the spaces I brought up. I don't see why every time I bring up a new possibility everyone immediately denies it. I know if may not happen but aren't we all here just making predictions?

That's right! I totally forgot about that. Doesn't CW's attendance exceed Cedar Point's?

Yes but profits don't

They'll figure out a way to fix that most likely, I bet. Unless the Cedar Point hotels' profits and park profits are lumped together, in which case CW would need hotels to match Point's levels. How far is Valleyfair from the nearest hotel? Are there shuttles to/from the park to hotels, airport and MoA?

The closest hotels are probably the ones off the 169 exit near McDonalds, and I don't know if any of them have transportation to the park, MOA, or MSP. I don't think transportation to the park from the hotels is necessary because Valleyfair really isn't a park that requires an overnight stay in town (unless you're coming from out of state).

I would hope Valleyfair reps have promotional deals with area hotels to bring in guests who may not know of the park beforehand. Oftentimes hotels will have their own shuttles so Valleyfair wouldn't even have to handle it. It might help the park expand its reach and get its name out there beyond the region.

Photo of the construction site from Dave Frazier. They still have quite a bit of work to do (only 3 months until Soak City opens).

I'd assume that those are being used to set up the infrastructure for that part of the waterpark.
