VF15
Good news! I had a short conversation with Mr Frazier and he said the water park expansion was on time and under budget! He didn't know the exact schedule but we might see the tower going up soon! That is great to hear. They are certainly making some more progress based on the webcam. I wonder what is making the expansion under budget?
ariznglori
Maybe they were planning on the weather being worse than it is.
GCI Wooden
^That is what I think it could be, as I look at my still-green lawn. Under budget is always good, and I'm really excited for vertical construction!
garyman6
They are getting ready to pour concrete for the slide tower landing area! Sweet!
VF15
^ Yep, they've already started on that. Kind of surprised that they're working on Christmas Eve, but nice to see them making more progress.
madsecar
I drove past Valleyfair on the way back from my aunts house late Christmas Eve night, the sky was lit up from city lights, and I just love the way wild thing looks from the road. DanTheBooker
It's starting to look like a water park, boys and girls!
VF15
After last night's snow, I guess it might unfortunately slow down the slide construction a bit, though the area does look a lot nicer with the snow than with dirt.
ytterbiumanalyst
^ I doubt it will slow construction. I'm pretty sure they factored snow into the construction schedule.
GCI Wooden
If Valleyfair didn't plan on snow being a problem, they would never build anything on time. This is Minnesota we're talking about. Â Also, didn't Dave Frazier say that they were ahead of schedule a couple pages back? That is probably because of the lack of snow.
VF15
I don't think it will significantly slow down construction. It just might not go as fast as it has over the past few weeks. Sorry about the confusion.
valleyfairfanatic
So you may remember me posting something mentioning some pictures of the construction. I got the opportunity to tour the expansion and to take some pictures. Here are the pictures! (sorry for the delay). I apologize for the lack of quality of these photos, my camera on my iPod isn't the greatest. Excavator working in the path towards north woods grill. This is the clearing where the splash pad will be (I'm sure you already know that) Uh wheel of fortune? You're not looking too good. Valleyfair's barren walkways. This is the pit for the filtration building that will be close to the watersides. Steel Venom's wheel assemblies Another skeleton of a planet snoopy ride. Renegade's brake run Some of the footers for the slide tower. Notice some support tubes are already in place. The rides taken apart look really weird! Expesially the ferris wheel. I unfortunately couldn't get a picture of it. From the catwalk of valleyfair's matinence building. Leveled ground outside breakers bay. I need one... What ride's wheels are these? Corkscrew's trains in storage Steel Venom's trains in storage
ariznglori
Excellent pictures, thank you! I think I can see the Ferris wheel in pics 5 and 10, looking rather spindly without its seats
RCjunkie
^^ Thanks for posting those pictures! I have never seen so many off season pictures of dismantled rides and the maintenance being done to them for VF. Very cool to see the wheel carriages for Steel Venom being worked on. Thanks for sharing with us who don't get the opportunity to take pictures of the park like this. Really liked the shot of the Renegade break run. As just a visitor to the park I never get to see that angle. Seeing this gets me excited for opening day, only 136 more days.
VF15
Thank you for the great pictures, valleyfairfanatic. The park looks a lot different in it's offseason state. Â only 136 more days. Still way too long...
GCI Wooden
I wish I could go to the park during the off season! Â In the Renegade Brake Run picture, is that Renegade's train under the blue tarp?

thecoasterlead
I wonder what ValleyFair will get in 2016? I'm thinking a wing or invert, in the parking lot. I've heard that Dinosaurs Alive will be removed in 2019 so what I'm thing is, a wing coaster interfering with the entrance like Cedar Point in 2016! In 2017 a Lake Erie Eagles in wild things overbanked turn. Then in 2019 a Huss Frisbee in dinosaurs alive! This is my first post...
valleyfairfanatic
I wish I could go to the park during the off season! Â In the Renegade Brake Run picture, is that Renegade's train under the blue tarp? Â It most likely is, I didn't pay much attention to them though. I see that kinda stuff everyday in the summer, since I worked there (and will be again next year) so it was normal to see renegade like that. Thank you guys for being so appreciative of the pictures! I hope I will get more opportunities like this down the road!

The thing that's making me a bit skeptical about a 2016 coaster is that I've yet to hear any official big rumors about a coaster. Then again, there is still plenty of time, plus I've seen a few things on this thread that could point to a coaster. If we are getting one, we'll probably start seeing some land clearing in May or June. Â Welcome to TPR!
garyman6
I guess I'll break the ice for 2015 and post first. Happy New Year everyone! I really believe that 2016 will be our year for a new coaster. No one expected what they were going to do at Carowinds for 2015. Carowinds is a slightly larger park but is located in a similar size market. Who would have guessed a 30 million coaster and reconstruction of the entire front entrance. Then just a few weeks ago the addition of another million plus attraction with the addition of a slingshot ride. I know a lot of people are speculating that we may get another water park addition and the rational behind it is sound. Personally I think we won't see another water park addition until 2017 and a new coaster in 2016. But, and its a big Butt! what is the chance that we see a "Carowinds" style year in 2016. How about a new coaster and water park addition? I know its a stretch but one can dream can't they?
valleyfairfanatic
Although I do believe 2016 will be our year to get the next major attraction for the park, I think having a water park expansion and a new coaster is wishful thinking. I would love it, but I just don't see cedar fair investing that kind of money into vf. Who knows, I would love for them to prove me wrong.
ariznglori
I'm not sure if it will be 2016 or 2017, but when Valleyfair does get its turn, I don't think we'll be disappointed. Â Has anyone heard anything about what might be done to California's Great America? The biggest fear I have is that Cedar Fair may focus on them before us, as I don't think it was ever said which potential growth park would be next. Â They might get more focus than Valleyfair now that the stadium is there (or less if the neighbors keep complaining about the sounds of the rides and guests). Valleyfair's last major coaster addition was Renegade in 2007. If CGA did get another major coaster before Valleyfair, it would spell out how much major investment Valleyfair would get afterward. VF15
I think asking for a waterpark expansion and a coaster in the same year might be a bit of a stretch. Maybe a coaster and a slingshot together would be more likely. Â By the way, did Ouimet or Cedar Fair ever say how much would be invested in Valleyfair in the near future? We already know the amount for Carowinds is $50 million, and if we knew VF's amount, that could tell us what coaster options are most realistic.
