Lake Compounce Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

From a trusted source at Lake Compounce, Boulder Dash will be receiving the RMC treatment for the 2017 season.

Hmmmmm

1. Very first post

2. No source is mentioned other than 'a trusted source'

I'm pretty sure something that fit the two criteria happened in a different thread but I forget.

I second that

Had two great visits to Lake Compounce this past Friday and Sunday night. Over the past 8 years, a fall Halloween trip for Graveyard and Boulder Dash has pretty much become a really fun tradition.

The weather was muggy and hot on Friday night, which made the park look fantastic with natural mist/ fog combined with the dry ice fog. T-shirt weather in late October is a great thing. We got 11 rides in on Boulder Dash in the foggy dark and six rides on on Phobia. The weather was back to regular fall temps on Sunday night.

Boulder Dash is still in my top three and was running super fast both days. The triple up has a bit of a pot hole, which I assume will be fixed in the off season. I just stood up a bit, sort of riding it like a motor cycle over the triple up to help with that jack hammer. I love the ride so much and that triple up doesn't ruin it for me. It's still relentless and fast. I'd recommend riding in the front half as it's not as annoying there.

Phobia is the third of these Premiers that I've been on and it's a lot of fun. A perfect fit for the park.

I started going to Haunted Graveyard in 2008 and this was one of the best years ever. I miss the death stilt walker in the last room after the manor house. Back in 2008, there was more fog and the actor had glowing mouth in addition to being on stilts. It was a cool effect. Over all, they did a fantastic job as always and walking through this attraction just never gets old.

This year had the most actors I've ever seen throughout the Graveyard, especially on Friday night. Sunday night was great as well with a film crew there. Personally, I think the Haunted Graveyard is the best haunted attraction out there, even compared to others that I've been to, including Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens, Cedar Fair and Six Flags events.

The park looked great as always for this time of year. A few things I missed compared to past years are Wild Cat, the pumpkin monster at the front entrance and s'mores over an open fire pit. This is the second year that I've been with Wild Cat not open.

The beer and soup stations are always a nice touch. Roadsmary's Baby, from Two Roads Brewing, is one of the better pumpkin beers that I've had.

Another awesome year at Haunted Graveyard.

I actually know someone who is in the family that runs the park and they specifically said that Boulder Dash will NOT be RMC'd, becuase according to them, its already an awesome coaster, award winner, and people love it (excludes Triple up) . But I do have their 5 year plan, and I can tell you if it all comes true, their park might be able to beat out SFNE, thats how awesome its gonna be. Yes, they will not have as many coasters, but from the plan, it really looks like their going for Quality over Quantity

Agreed about turning Boulder Dash, the best terrain wood coaster out there, into a steel coaster. Makes no sense.

I didn't think that Palace Entertainment would be sharing their five year plan info but it makes sense. This park is always a great visit because of its quality.

Because nothing says quality like Wildcat and Zoomerang.

To be fair though I love Lake Compounce and their haunt event (though I wish Wildcat was open like it was a few years ago). They have the best haunt of any park in the northeast and it's not even close.

What I want to know is what idiot asked them that idiotic question that forced them to even address such a dumb idea?

Haha! Well in all fairness, many parks have a boomerang, big or small. Wild Cat is a classic that they've chosen to maintain and really is a an awesome thing to see to set the mood as soon as you walk up to the park. An old classic ride at one of the oldest parks in the world--Makes sense.

"RMCing" is like the latest buzzword for enthusiasts, as if nothing better exists out there other than a smooth steel coaster. Are there great opportunities to convert to steel out there? Sure, but BD isn't one of the tired, "just ok" non classic woodies out there.

IMO, Lake Compounce crushes SFNE already. Lake Compunce is way more fun for me than any of the Six Flags parks I've been to, while SFNE ranks below SFA for me. It's nice to hear that the park could eventually get more attention from the general public.

Just a heads up, platinum season passes are stupid cheap right now for their Black Friday sale. It's $59.99 for next year which includes Holiday Lights this year and next and the Haunted Graveyard (rides only so you just need to pay for the graveyard itself).

I almost want one and we didn't even go once this season. lol

^^Cool to hear they're trying to save Wildcat. Both times I went I either didn't have time to ride it or it was closed. I'll try to at least get the credit if it turns out alright. I'm not sure what to think about the IAAPA millennium flyer picture. I actually like the trains currently on Boulder Dash, because the PTC trains give you a nice amount of space to come up out of your seat, despite being individual lab bars.

I've checked the park's social media and they haven't posted anything in addition to the two Instagram posts mentioned before. Since M&V works with Gravity Group Timberliners would be more likely than Millennium Flyers.

Hi, you might want to check the park's social media now as I just received word from my friend that the annoucement has been posted!

Nothing really announced, just those two istagram pictures. MVR trackwork is confirmed, but I haven't seen anything about new trains.
