lapseofreason
I was thinking the other day about what my actual coaster count is and remembered that I've ridden a Dragon Wagon or two, just to be stupid, at traveling carnivals. Do those count as credits? I don't remember; you'd think I would know since I've been here long enough. Oh, and I remember riding a steel coaster at the I-X Indoor Amusement Park in Cleveland about 6 years ago. Does that count as well? -Amanda "I'm not turning into Jeff Johnson, just wondering" V. Jumboshrmp
Is it a credit? If you really want it to be, then fine, I won't argue with you. But if you ask me if it is a roller coaster, I say no, because it is powered.
ECZenith
I don't count powered coasters but I love them, they just aren't "roller" coasters, they're pulled around the circuit. I don't ride kiddy coasters, but the dragon wagons/go gators/etc. are powered along the track and don't rely on gravity, so I would say no. If you count gators and dragons, you mind as well count himalayas, bayern kurves and that sort of ride, as they are powered along a track in a similar way. Just my opinion, you are of course, always welcome to yours.
robbalvey
If the Dragon Wagon is powered, we personally don't count it, but there is nothing stopping you from counting it. There is no right or wrong way to count something, it's totally up to you! --Robb "Jeff Johnson counts log flumes, free falls, and pretzel stands!" If it's the coaster I'm thinking of at the IX Indoor Amusement Park, that's a Pinfari coaster that actually was at Geauga Lake for a while, and has been at a few other parks. I'd count that, just like their spinning mouse they had a couple years ago. Doesn't matter if it's on RCDB or not, it's still a credit (especially if it's not powered!). Alvey That's because pretzel stands have pretzels which can be related to an inversion on a flying roller coaster refered to as a "pretzel loop" hence the reason why Jeff counts them as credits. Personally, I don't include them. In my opinion, if you count powered coasters, you might as well count car, plane, train, and boat rides!
pete4winds
^ Whattaya mean you don't count cars and planes and stuff??? The city I live (Fall River, MA) in was literally dropped on top of a big hill (a pretty spectacular elevation change, by coastal Massachusetts standards - sea level to 256 feet in 3/4 mile), so I totally count my Blazer as a credit, especially on President Ave (AKA Seven Hills)...featuring the world's only (?) septuple-down element (or septuple-up if you're heading east). On the other hand, do I count Dragon Wagons, etc? Nah...at least not until my child is born in January...then you'd better believe I'm totally counting them! rollermonkey
I do believe that Wisdom makes dragon / gator themed coasters that are gravity powered, too. Me? I count powered and water coasters. I've only been on one Go-Gator, so I'm counting it. I probably won't ever ride another though.
ECZenith
pete4winds, you could definately count president ave. as a credit. Especially in the winter... Holy s^*&! If I get my neon up to speed just right and let it go on the bottom of each hill, massive airtime...
thomas2
No I think of it, I also rode a crappy Dragon. I was like 'Jesus hold this thing together'. But I liked it afterwards...
Gnome
Let me just ask you this.... Why? I personally would rather see my coaster count full of coasters that I actually enjoyed being on and that actually gave me an experience that I can refer to when Im talking about it with other people. I mean honestly, you can say you have been on 100 coasters, but if 80 of them are dragon wagon's, whats the point? Thats 80 coasters that you say you've been on but you can't really talk about it because its just wasn't that great of an experience. I mean you wouldn't go up to some one and say... "Yea, the dragon wagon is a really swell ride. I just had a blast on it. The air time, and the forces! My god, I was just smiling my little face off. Then I went on this one dragon wagon in Tennesee, ooh and that one just really made my day. Two Words: Ejector Air! Man it was totally awsome, you gotta get to Tennessee to ride that one!" But it really just comes down to if you would count it or not. I personally wouldn't just to keep the integrity of my coaster count in tact, but you may feel differently, so maybe it doesn't matter to you, like it would matter to me. I mean honestly, you can say you have been on 100 coasters, but if 80 of them are dragon wagon's, whats the point? Some people count litterally for the "count." Just like people who have 500 DVDs they never watch. I agree with you, and that's one of the reasons we really don't go out of the way for kiddie coasters nor do we count powered coasters. I mean, yes we'll ride kiddies (and even powered coasters if we have time) if they are "there." But even as much fun of we make of ourselves being "credit whores" there are even kiddies here in California we haven't bothered to go out of our way to ride! Personally, I'd rather have quality over quantity. So when I tell someone I've been on nearly 900 coasters, that's not a list full of kiddies, powered, and splashdown boats! --Robb
Wes
I personally ONLY count Dragon Wagons.
Reon
I count the travelling models if they aren't powered. That being said, I have yet to ride a powered one, but I probabbly wouldn't count it...But yeah *points at sig* I'll ride them if they're there. Otherwise, no big deal if I miss it... benzo41190
There are Dragon Wagons that are not powered through the whole thing. They are "lifted" up around the elevated turn. The rest of the ride isnt powered. I dont count those go-gators that have a motor in the train. BTW, if you count powered and kiddy coasters.....come to the Wisconsin State Fair!!!
coasterdude5
^Yeah, the one I went on was only powered for the "turn" and then gravity took it the rest of the way, so I count it as a credit.
pete4winds
pete4winds, you could definately count president ave. as a credit. Especially in the winter... Holy s^*&! If I get my neon up to speed just right and let it go on the bottom of each hill, massive airtime... Someone who can appreciate a REAL credit! Before I got my Blazer (4X4 thank you very much) I had a pretty intense winter-driving experience on President Ave. I had a Monte Carlo at the time, and lost traction coming down the hill...I slid through the intersection (thank whatever-deity-you-worship for green lights) and came to a stop under the railroad bridge by Globe Liquors facing BACK UP President Ave. On that experience alone, you'd better believe I count it as a credit!!! And on airtime, I actually find that going UP President Ave. produces some mean forces. After launching myself skyward I bottomed out nicely about a month ago on that top landing (for lack of a better term) with the flashing yellow just before Robeson St.
BC
So, to those of you who have tried The Odin Express at Tivoli Gardens... Do you not count that as a roller coaster ('cause it's listed on RCDB as one, and in my opinion it does rely on gravity on it's way down... sure feels like it) I think this is a Mack powered coaster, but perhaps there are different models. More or less powered?
timetrial3141592
If it is on RCDB, it's a credit. Bayernkurves are credits. Himalayas are not. The train must cover less than two-thirds of the circuit at any one time for it to be a credit.
kidcoaster
The I-X coaster is more of a coster than the Dragon Wagon.
