Well, yesterday I had a great day at SCBB! Giant Dipper rocked as usual, but until night, they were only running one train. On Tuesdays and Thursdays (I think) they have this thing where after 6 p.m. food and soda and tickets/unl. rides wristbands become really cheap. So the lines for everything became long after that time, which sucks. They were kind of slow running the rides, accept for Giant Dipper. It takes them like less than 30 seconds to dispatch the train! They are awesome.

So everything was great until 6 p.m. After 6, the park was like SFMM. Sloooow operations, and the park became a mess with litter and people. So after that we kind of hung around, rode a few rides, and ate dinner because the food was $.65!

And oh yeah...and I found like 8 hot girls walking around the bikinis on! ;D

So...on to the pics!

Parking lot pic!

This ride is so weird...It's like themed and stuff and the people running it are nice...it's like the Twilight Zone or something...

Whoa....

Cliff Hanger. I took this when my friends were on. I don't really get this ride...it just makes you dizzy while you are laying where weird people without a shirt on have laid....gross

Dragon Coaster!!!

So thrilling...

I skipped this also...that would kill my stomach so bad...

WIPE OUT!!!

Duel stations rock!

Me and Kristen on Logger's Revenge! I'm in the front.

If I didn't like saltness and sandiness I would have took advantage of these great boogy boarding waves!

There are tons of hot girls out there on the beach! ;D

Ooooh warm California beach! Just wait till you feel the water...

Just in case you want to see the Giant Dipper from the beach again...

Lift hill....

It's getting dark...

Ooooh nice sunset. Too bad I missed the perfect time to take a picture of Giant Dipper as the sun was going down! >:(

Now this is the California you hear about. Too bad it only looks this great in the pictures!

Okay, I'm not sure if you want to see this shot again, but here it is at 5 P.M.!

More awesome palm trees at 5:30!!

Here comes the cool pictures at 6:00...the dreaded time on a Tuesday!

Typhoon again at night!

Alright...bear with me, I am still learning how to make these long exposure pictures look nice...

ooooh...

Looks like I set it for a little too long. If it were darker it would be better.

Yep...another one!!!

Okay, last one!

Oooooh blurriness!

Senor Teds!!!!!

Well, I didn't really notice it being slower or anything. I was there last week on Friday, and then I went on Tuesday, and I didn't notice any difference between those times, if thats what you mean. Lol, I am actually going to Santa Cruz AGAIN tomorrow! Only, I won't be going to the boardwalk, I'll be in the mountains...I barely ever go there, and now I will have gone 3 times in 10 days!

But thanks for the comments guys!

The last time I was at the Boardwalk was in October 1999. Time to go back!

The Giant Dipper proves that you don't need to build a 200 ft. tall wooden coaster to make it good. Dipper's 70 ft. works just fine and there's plenty of good airtime, too.

Do they still have a Rock-o-plane?

That is one ride that may get me to the boardwalk someday

They sure do, I was just on it right before it went down for it's winter rehab session. The Boardwalk is also celebrating their 100th year in 2007, so now is a great time to come out for a visit!

^ wow! i didn't know the Boardwalk is gonna celebrate the 100th

birthday and i think it's really about time to get all rides renewed

'cause i love to see that antique ones but they need to fix some

rusty places for the guests' safety.

That's some lovely pictures, I'll have to visit the Boardwalk someday to ride this "Classic" woodie.

I wish England had something like this.

I call the "Rock-o-plane" an "Egg Wheel".

A while back I found a video on utube of what I believe to be the SCBB rock-o-plane. Can any one confirm it was shot at the boardwalk?

IF your sensitive to spin rides you may want to avoid clicking!

I have been known to pilot my tub in a similar fashion on one that traveled with a carnival. This show folded last year, so I will miss it.

how many people who have riden the Dipper would say it is one of the smothest coasters for being built in the 1920s.

i guess id have to ride more 1920's coasters to really compare

but compared to 1986's Grizzly at PGA, id have to say its equal to its 66 year young woodie

Sweet! My TR came back to life!

Thanks for all the comments you guys, they are very much appreciated!

And yes, I love the Rock O Plane ride...I didn't even know it had a name, till now!

Curious why you state this, SCBB is one of the best kept best maintained old seaside parks in the world. They've obsessively keep their old classic rides and attractions in tip top condition and honestly have never heard of any recent accidents on any of their rides. Knowing how much TLC they give their classic rides, curious why you feel there's a safety issue, just because something's old doesn't automatically equate unsafe.

Is the antique car ride still operating?

Gone, was removed to expand the park and create the new Riverwalk section. Although the cars were fun, the dozen or so new kick arse rides that replaced it are a much better trade off.

Mentioning Fizzly and GD as equal anything is sacrilegious! Not only is GD most likely one of the smoothest woodies from it's time, it's still one of the smoothest woodies operating anywhere today. A tribute to the park's maintenance dept. for keeping this jewel in glass smooth pristine condition.

For any SoCal SCBB fans, don't forget the park is open weekends year round. If in the area, be sure to stop by for a few winter spins on GD!
