Tmcdllr
^But if you can feel the heat from it in the daytime then it is not a waste. Yeah it looks better at night but the effect is still interesting during the day too. ^^Even if it is 100 degrees you only experience it for a few seconds, not really long enough to make someone unreasonably uncomfortable. Even if it does, as soon as you realize it the uncomfortable feeling passes - I think you can bear it. Besides that, you are traveling on a coaster with the wind/air hitting you to cool you down. cooksta77
The fire effect is part of th ride just like the audio when I went opening day and the audio as broken on one of the trains so It dissapoints you when part of the $10 million investment is broken (Or off) for your ride! They also only turn on the fog during night if they turned on the misters or fog (or whatever you want to call it) during the night rides! If they turned it on they could turn on the fire in 100 degree heat! Also can anyone answer this: Why doesn't SFMM use the amount of fog that Cedar Point uses on Steel Dragon? It would be a fun part of the ride insted of the misters that only turn on during the night!
Mr.Six
I'll add to the agreement that X2 uses too little mist in the ditches of the ravens. Yeah, its noticeable -- but thats it. Does anyone know if the safety warnings were updated with the reopening of X to include the new fire and 'fog' effects. Maybe the only thing I can think of is that if they used any more mist or 'fog' they'd have to update the warnings to include one more restriction. Perhaps legal hassle , or simply budget reasons...don't know! -Mike
ebl
Just got back from a quick trip out to SFMM... I only rode Tatsu (two-train operation, one station); the Sky Tower (one-elevator operation); Gold Rusher (two-train operation); and Goliath (three-train operation). Crowd wasn't too bad, park was clean. I did notice that X2 was running two trains withpretty consistent dispatches, though I didn't ride. The fire effect was going, and it went off just as I passed on my way out. This visit was pretty spur of the moment...I just wanted to get out of the house for awhile. cooksta77
Yeah What I can think is that the fire was turned off the one day because it was 102 when I went on! So What?
Bolliger&Mabillard
If X had the same fog effect as Iron Dragon it would look alot better, but the fact that X is slightly faster that may be an issue.
SFMM162op
well it also doesnt help that some of the designs for the ride were cut due to the budget that they had for the upgrades on the ride maybe if they added the canopys or so called "tunnels" to the ride it possiblily been a better
TheStig
Here are a few photos and comments from a couple of my visits last week... In conclusion, I had fun on the thing, but I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for it in the future. After seeing the transformation in January and March, I thought that SFMM did a great job with the end product. Oh, did I mention they were indeed running three trains that night? Same with the rest of the park, max trains that were available. I was impressed with that. Thanks for reading guys and gals. The effects were cool, and being a fan of fire in general it was cool to be blasted in the face with it at night! The music track itself was good, but half the time I couldn't hear it over the ride itself. A little louder, and it would be awesome. My overall reaction to the ride was "Wow, it's really really really fun! But nothing is mindblowingly amazing about it either". I really did enjoy X2. Besides hitting my head pretty hard in the last raven turn, I thought the ride was very smooth for its size and design. Granted I was in the second row, inside seat, with Joey next to me! ...however after reading numerous reports of how rough it was, how it beat the crap out of you in some cases, and how some people said X2 was no different ride wise than the origional X, I set the bar pretty low for my first ride. Which brings me to X2. These are all taken from outside because my ride was a few days before at night. Having never ridden the origional X to compare X2 to, I can't say if it was better or worse than the origional... The Scream crew was also doing a good job that day. I will say that I do think X2 is smoother than Scream. This pretzel is still probably one of my favorite elements of any coaster out there! During my three visits I rode Tatsu twice. The first time it was down to one train operation, and while that isn't good, the crew did try to get people through as quickly as possible. The second time I visited the park, the Tatsu crew was the best crew of the night IMO. Two trains, two stations, and they were really hustling to get both trains out as quickly as possible! Good for them! Sorry, I'm a sucker for classy-retro stuff! Revolution also got these shiny new trains! I wouldn't say they ran "smoother" overall, but in some areas it did feel a bit different. Still, I think they looked really slick. Deja Vu was up and running, but with single rider closed we didn't wait for it. It was in rehab last time I was there for West Coast Bash. I find these things really fun, and I'm glad Magic decided to keep theirs. Moment of silence. Thank you. The other "Attraction" in Thomas Town is Cranky, which also looked really awesome. But to echo Jahan, there weren't a lot of people in the area! Which I think is sad because it looks really nice. Maybe if there was a LITTLE more to do for kids there it would be more popular, but so far I think it's a great addition to the park. The only thing negative I have to say about the train ride was this area. Everything looked, well, dead! Considering that it is in California in the middle of summer, I can't necessarily put the blame on the park for this, and I wont. Some things you just cant control. All the employees waved, and this one in particular did a great job with the vocal part of the ride. It really gave a "happy" feeling to the area. Next up was the train, and WOW the station was really well themed! I was impressed! Percy looked REALLY nice! Of course I was too tall to ride, but still it looked popular with younger kids that were in the area. Thomas Town had also been completed since I had last been there, so we went and checked it out... Despite the glorious look on my face, I really liked this flume! So did Mike apparently! Log Jammer! They were really putting people through on this ride. What looked like a 20 minute wait only ended up being about 10! Two men on a quest for... Picture of the front of the park. Since I had been there Valencia Falls (it is Valencia Falls, right?) had been turned back on! It actually looked really great! My co-star of this report will be Mike (Mr. Six)! SFMM162op
All I have to say is that the current Scream! night crew is one of the best yet. They seriously work their butts off ADMIN EDIT: Better! Just use capitals next time, thanks for improving!
SFMM100
Well yesterday i went to SFMM and it went great! i saw all of the employee's shirts tucked in, and No Cell phones. It was a good crowd like Eric said. Goliath is the only Coaster i saw that got Stuck on the Lift Hill, but an hour later it was working again. Changing the subject. I got on X2 only once yesterday and it was arou0nd 9:15 when i rode it. The other times i got on it, it was day time, so yesterday i liked how it felt at night with the Fog and Fire! But still its still fun in the day. -Miguel

Yeah But If you look at night at it's top speed after the first drop you go through the misters and it's always back for the next ride I personally think it would work and be a cool expirience! smallish
I was actually on the Batman train waiting in the station to dispatch and it started shaking. A moment later we found out there was actually an earthquake and all the rides were closed. As cool of an earthquake story it is, we never did ride Batman that day. We didn't ride X2 either, considering that a train was stuck on the lift before the earthquake and it never re-opened.

cooksta77
That would be cool to ride during an earthquake! It would bring a whole new expirience! It might be dangerous but fun!

Bolliger&Mabillard
Operator at a ride's secondary panel (I won't say which ride) charging phone in plain sight. Another ride's panel operator stacking due to obvious texting. What really caught me off guard was the blatent cell phone just sitting on the station charging. I mean there's a smart way of not following the rules, and there's the not so smart way. This operator chose the flat out idiot's way.
cooksta77
The Operator just left their phone charging in the station? That's just idiotic! And Stacking due to texting....Thats stupid! That's why I like X2's crew! They are fast and by the time they get a train out there is another one coming in so there is no down time!
PeoplemoverMatt
Is there a reason SFMM employees need to be wearing cell phones while on the job?
cooksta77
No they just keep them because Six Flags hires teens to work at the parks. They should make a rule so that way stacking due to texting doesn't happen!
PeoplemoverMatt
I was thinking more of having a mandatory cell phone check at the employee security gate. Since it's ok to put guests through metal detectors, employees should have no qualms about being put through them themselves, and would be required to surrender the cell phone at that time. Once outside the security gate, the celly will be returned, and the employee can call for a ride or whatever there where its outside and away from the public eye. Might seem a little extreme, but when there's a rampant cell phone abuse while on the job - texting, charging at the ride (mooching off electricity Six Flags is paying for), etc, it's time to put something like this in place. thrillgeek
^Very well stated. I hate it when I'm walking through a park and an employee is texting or talking on the phone. There suppose to be doing there job not using their phone. They can use the phones on break or something but not while there working.
Bolliger&Mabillard
The cell phone was as visible on that station as the interlocking corkscrews...whoops. I said I wouldn't say which ride. Oh well.
