I was at Islands of Adventure yesterday to eat at Mythos. The Balsamic Chicken is back, but it tastes different (but it was still delicious). To my surprise, the bannana gooey cake was no longer offered as a desert! The server offered me desert shots, but they didn't look appetizing. I specifically asked if the bannana gooey cake was available and the server said it wasn't. I almost passed out! It's been on the menu since day one and now it's gone. *sniff* It was the best desert ever! *sniff*

Like the Balsamic Chicken though, perhaps the bannana gooey cake will return in the future. The menu was good until July 1.

I'm sure if someone mentioned this on the DIS Boards, there would be a sugar riot.

They actually got rid of ALL the desserts, including my favorite "Coffee and Donuts". Part of their whole changing the menu BS! My Tomato and Mozzarella Salad is also still gone.

Booo!!!!

What used to be one of my favorite restaurants period, not just theme park eatery, has gone way down to the point I don't even eat there now.

I agree with Elissa. It used to be sooooo good, but now it's just blah. Nothing special about it anymore- it has a really tiny menu, and all the great dishes are gone. I don't go there anymore.

I used to consider Mythos to be one of the ten best restaurants anywhere, despite the fact that it's inside a park. The food was that good. Now, they've turned it into just another park eatery. This, combined with the lousy operations and customer service I've witnessed on my last two trips to IOA/USF has turned the parks into places I might visit every couple of years, as opposed to every time I go to FL.

^ Exactly. It is so dissapointing to see what was once a great eatery to turn into just a boring, normal, over-priced place. Yes, they still have some good dishes, but many of the things they have are pretty normal, but with some foo-foo added in (like their pizza and cheeseburger).

The customer service was also pretty bad. I thought that the waiters were fine, but the fact that they only filled half of the restaurant when there is an hour wait.

I thought it was awesome, I don't know what you guys are talking about. I went back in 2002 and again this year in May. Both times were great, although this year we did have to evacuate the building due to a grease fire. We did get free desert shots since we were one of the few groups who came back and paid (some people are so dishonest-geez).

It's really awesome for a theme park restaurant, but I wouldn't say it's in my top 10 restaurants (unless you count the fact that it IS inside a theme park). I look at it like this:

-No lines (if you make a reservation, which is really easy)

-Incredible theming both indoor and outdoor

-Good food for a theme park, with prices comparable to other theme park eateries (but a much better setting)

Okay, so the menu changed, but that happens to many restaurants when the head chef takes another position. I think that IoA (Mythos included) is kind of in a transition period right now. They are doing lots of renovation that should have been done a few years ago, and the park is starting to look more like it did in 1999. Just give it some time, I'm sure it'll get there soon.

It seems to boil down to the GP, who aren't being supportive enough with their $$$. But then, we know that families of four+ would have a hard time to do a proper dinner at such a place as Mythos, hmm?

Same happened at DisneyParis BIGtime. Apparently a lot of the bigger restaurants were just that - big table service restaurants with (what I heard) exceptionally GREAT FOOD being served.

But "the general public" didn't want big restaurants in their new Disney a/k/a GO-USA theme park - they wanted the fast food as much as what the US parks were serving up. And so they all slowly faded out of sight - and now it doesn't matter whether you're in Adventuerland, Main Street or even... Disney Village. Pizza, burgers, chicken, fries and stuff go well in any atmosphere it seems, now.

Though there are still a few (like Auberge de Cendrillon and the German {?} one in the Village) around doing full table service and more than 'the above' - they are few.

You know I thought the Balsamic Chicken was a little different than the last time I ate it. Though it still was good.

Ditto to all of those who have been underwhelmed by Mythos. It used to be awesome, but the last meal I had there was pretty mediocre, and the service was downright horrible.

As far as the dessert shot glasses go, they either stole or borrowed that idea from Seasons 52, a local Orlando restaurant right down the street from Universal. They have been doing those desserts for years there.

Also, I used to really enjoy Confisco's at the front of IOA. When it first opened, they had a chicken salad with grilled fruit. Yup, they grilled pineapple and other fruits and it was amazing.

Now it is just another fast food joint disguised as a restaurant. My advice: save your money and go across the street to the Orlando Ale House. Their chicken nachos are AMAZING and huge!

Bring back the old Mythos! OR taer it down and replace it with an Intamin standup giant drop!

Its really depressing how the food selection has taken a turn for the worse, especially when Chef Mark is still the head dude there.

I ate at Mythos in March, I'd say. I was not impressed. I got a Chicken Wrap of some sort. It was okay, but not that great. I was going to get the Balsamic Chicken, but it wasn't on the menu.

I remember them having the Dessert Shots there, I thought they were pay a small fee for a sample, and choose to get the bigger version, guess not.

PianoJohn, I've had the Chicken Nachos at Ale House (off of 535) and they were no good. Alot of people live by them, but I thought they were crap.
