Smart money says Bizarro isn't going anywhere. Great adventure is the premier Six Flags park on the East Coast and a cash cow for Six Flags. According to most recent quarterly earnings filing, SFGADV has the highest spend per person of any park. Another interesting fact : Great Adventure- Land holdings 2200 acres all other Six Flags parks combined 3359 acres. Great Adventure certainly isn't cramped for space. In the past 25 years the only time the park has relocated a ride was during "the line on wars" where nearly all properties swapped rides and (allegedly) batman: the chiller as it was rumored to be a maintainence nightmare. -chris 'visual scan" con

Yeah..The arrow looper was the highlight of the park ( I didn't make it over to the "might be operating" drop tower though) .. Although I'll doubt he'll comment on it, I'd like to thank him for the upkeep (and being a TPR member).. Sadly though, over at Deer Park Review, the reviews are not as positive. -
In recent years (5 or 6?) the monkeys have been fenced in. By removing the self drive through aspect of the attraction and requiring guests to take a guided tour, I see this as having the potential to make the safari a low budget version of killimanjaro safari at ak. A themed spiel, closer contact to the animals (currently the tigers are fenced off, monkeys are fenced off, bears are kept far away), a host who can point out animals and share information, and a more intimate setting (possibly removing all the asphalt) is exactly what this attraction needs. From a revenue standpoint it also allows the hundreds of people that arrive via bus to take advantage of the upcharge attraction without paying for an expensive vip tour.

While the governmental regulations in Canadia may not be as strong as they are in the USA, I still think the public senitiment to animals remains the same. Marineland is more of a case of business missmanagement than it is of the government taking a blind eye. The park's bathrooms' are located 8 miles apart from each other. The food stands open at 1:00pm in the afternoon (the park closes at 7) . It's like a real life version of someone losing at Roller Coaster Tycoon. The park promotes attractions and doesn't build them 10 years later. The brochure warns you "If darnkness occurs, leave immediately". The owner clearly does not have a grasp on "business 101" and , sadly, since this is an animal based park, the animals suffer for it. After personally visiting the park, I've come to the conclusion that this article, and the apparent condition of the animals, is the owners' fault on a micro level and not a macro issue amongst Canadians. -

Awesome tour of Marineland "the worlds largest themepark by acreage only". In the light of today's negative news, you still had fun with this report but were respectful.. Thanks for the update! -chris "who knew that carp would like to eat baby crack?" con -

Thanks Chad--- Note: This was originally announced in 2006. Their website (which is awesome because it still says copyright- 2009 ) lists some amazing details of this nearly completed attraction (read: baron land that hasn't been touched in years) http://www.marinelandcanada.com/attractions/future_development/ -

Marineland is a "bit" sketchy. When you walk around a park that clearly hasn't spent a dollar on renovating even basic things (like their single restaurant) in 30 years, it's a good sign they are also probably cutting corners in the back of the house (animal care) as well. Didn't see anything overtly out of the normal in animal care during the day there though.. The trainers, feeders, etc, seemed to be acting exactly like I've seen at other aquariums/parks..I guess the only strange things I saw were the killer whale's dorsal fin was curling (think free willy), but I guess they all do that in captivity and a beluga whale that was all cut up, (like he was saved from a net)...I also found it interesting that they staffed security guards on either side of the shared killer whale/ beluga pool to prevent you from walking around to the back of pool which is currently being used as a holding tank for something, but was originally "on stage". On the bright side of things, they are currently building the "worlds largest aquarium", which will probably relinquish any of these concerns (someone PLEASE post a pic ). -

goliath.... probably about 1000 times in a row (math is hard)... Props to Robb & Elissa for Down South Bash and props to the head ride operator during ERT for all of the trivia, questions and jokes. I tip my hat . -

Loved the Martin's Fantasy Island update. I know you are a fan of it, but I was just happy to make it out without being shanked and/or shot. How many theme parks in the USA allow you to smoke and drink (possibly do meth) anywhere in the park? Crazy... Dave and Busters night. Amazing. Waiting for someone to post the video of the Aussie's epic (15 glasses? ) jager bomb cascade.. Edited to say: Regarding Fantasy Island--- Actually it was a 40 oz mountain dew cup that beer was served in. It cost about $1.50 and they were completely happy to let me bring it out of the park. Klassy (both me and the park) -
These rides do absolutely nothing for me, but it makes for a great "weenie" (visual landmark for the park). I hope the next capital improvement is a major (new) roller coaster as the park already has a good mix of flats and family rides. A wild mouse, relocated boomerang, and star flyer may all be compelling for the local market, but I don't see any of these attractions nspiring people outside of an 80 mile radius to make the trip.

Pretty sure vegemite is actually poison and reliving those photos of me even tasting a little bit will require years of serious counseling,... .... Congratulations to the "winner" who ate the entire tube like it was gravy at an ACE convention. Next time I'm offering Tim Danner $200 to drink Drano (which he will probably win again, and then laugh at me). I tip my hat. Edited to say.. Awesome pictures of the Coneaut Lake.. You got some shots of places we didn't even walk towards. Doesn't KT look like shes enjoying rides by herself in some post apocalypse world? Also- The ride ops here were amazing.. Literally, following our different groups from ride to ride and running anything we wanted to ride.. This park was easily one of my highlights of the trip. It's kind of a testament to perserverance. -

If alpengeist doesn't win this , I'm calling shennanigans . A bit dissapointed they didn't feature Robb more in the commentary as they clearly promoted him with the numerous newspaper articles ( New York times and whatever that la paper is called ) . Clearly used his brand to promote the show . Just sayin.
