  1. Meanwhile, Mark Shapiro unveiled plans of the newest Six Flags Park in Lincoln, Nebraska called "Six Flags Soft Rock Park" where he unveiled plans for "The Monkee's 'Last Train To Clarksville'" mine train and "ABBA- The Dancing Queen" rollercoaster which will combine all the best parts of Swedish Meatballs and disco in one three-minute ride". Robb who had been hoping for a ride based on the song "Waterloo" from ABBA turned to Kid Tums and said . . .
  2. I haven't posted for awhile but.... The Grammar Police are coming to get you . . . Allot means to distribute or to allocate. A Lot is two words. Blame my English teacher many years ago for drilling this into me but it's one of my pet peeves. In any case, nice pix and I certainly hope to be lucky enough to ride EK this year- it's looking mighty good. Good job on the TR. (and sorry about my pet peeves)
  3. Just finished Jeffery Archer's "A Prisoner Of Birth" and it is a FANTASTIC read. If you like "The Shawshank Rendemption" (book or movie) you will LOVE this novel. From Nov.-April. (when it's not so much fun to go outside in the MidWest) I'll read 2-4 novels a week- and this by far is one of the best Great Reads I've had in a while because it appeals to fans of mystery, suspense, courtroom drama and just plain old good fashioned story-telling. I read the book (all 500 pgs) in one day. Another great story-telling book is Clive Cussler's "The Chase" (although I admit the cover art for the book is almost too retro to be taken seriously).
  4. A soft pile of bad grammar, spelling and punctuation. Meanwhile Mark Shapiro announced online that the "Soon To Be Closed Off And Forgotten Part Of Six Flags Magic Mountain" will really be replaced by not 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or six clones of Deja Vu, but a record seven installations of the ride. "We feel we've left our guests behind in terms of product placements, and we want Deja Vu to truly resemble what we in fact have alleged via it's namesake. Eventually, we'd like to have a Deja Vu rollercoaster within no more than a 500 ft radius from every other Deja Vu installation in the park. Some coasters may get the axe to make way vor the Deja Vu clones, including the newly revamped X2, Revolution, Colussus, Goliath, Viper, and Superman: The Escape. Shapiro ausuaged some fears when he noted, "Please, all you naysayers and Doomsday fanatics, Goldrusher will continue to operate, though the ride may have to be slimmed down lengthwise to accomodate another version of Deja Vu within the next two years." Shapiro then evaded all other questions but did continue on with a proposed project for Thomas Town called Lil Deja Vu.
  5. I hadn't had any for a couple of years, but just last week my girlfriend had some around her house and I kinda helped myself to a couple. When was the last time you actually moved big furniture around to vacuum?
  6. I'm not a huge fan of the "backwards" side of any coaster. Other than the lift hill where I like the scenic perspective, I don't think that backwards really enhances any ride I've ever been on. My .02
  7. Nothing...which seems to be kind of a disappointment considering the events that led up to this. Meanwhile, the autobiography of Andrew Ridgely (the other half of WHAM! with George Michael) was released. Robb noticed the shiny jacket of the book at the local Borders and was tempted to pick it up "just to see...." when Elissa elbowed him and pointed at yet another new book from Ann B. Davis (Alice from "Brady Bunch") and said . . .
  8. Great Pics/info- you should upload some of the pics to Roller Coaster Database, because the last time I looked, there were not many graphics attached to the entry for "The Bat" Went to KI when The Bat was in it's 2nd year of operation but we hit the park on a day when it was down. I talked to an employee on The Eiffel Tower who informed me that it never ran very regularly after it's first season, and that it might have to be rebuilt or torn down. Somewhere I think I might have some Kodak 110 pics of the ride, if I can find the shoebox that they're in, I'll try and post them. I didn't take too many because I was mad that the ride was down for the day, and the next time I got back to KI, The Vortex was brand new and sitting in place of The Bat. Thanks for the memories.
  9. Sauzer's Kiddieland, Schererville, IN-(Unnamed)roller coaster, Mad Mouse, Galaxi. Six Flags Great America: Turn Of The Century, Tidal Wave (although I coud still re-ride this and have at SFOG and SFKK), Z-Force/Flashback, Rolling Thunder, Shockwave, Deja Vu. King's Island: Screamin' Demon/Demon, King Cobra. Busch Gardens The Dark Continent: Python. Six Flags St. Louis- River King Mine Ride (track one), JetScream. Six Flags Magic Mountain: Psyclone, Flashback/Z-Force. Interestingly enough, I started visiting Cedar Point in 1982 and all the coasters that I have ever ridden there are still there. Gotta like that.
  10. I believe that it's logical to think that we are "NOT" the only ones in existence. I have not seen conclusive proof that ET's have ever visited earth, but I wouldn't disregard any evidence for lack of faith. Face it, if the people of Earth could visit other habitable planets and check out the lifeforms that may exist there, why wouldn't we? It makes for good debate though.
  11. got to see "No Country For Old Men"- awesome flick, and though it does have an abrupt ending, if you see the movie and think about it for awhile, it totally fits in with the whole theme the movie is trying to enforce in the first place. Rock on Coen Bros.
  12. It' s not random and half the time I'm not even sure the info is 100% correct, but I get a kick out of random surfing on Wikipedia. So what if it's run by Communist Disinformationists, it's fun and it'll make you feel smart.
  13. To which Robb replied "Earth has no face!", which momentarily stunned the onlookers into submission. In the movie version of this scene, a quiet piano melody is played but in real life, the quite piano notes were replaced by . . .
  14. They have Quisp cereal in the cold cereal section. Nuff said.
  15. Ninja at SFOG- It really wasn't that bad at all. Not to say there wasn't a moment or two of headboxing, but not nearly as bad as I had heard. T2 at SFKK- I didn't find this ride painful in the least (and I'm not a super big fan of Vekoma) but I actually enjoyed my rides. Flashback at SFMM- was not so good, however, when it was at my home park of SFGA when it was all shiny and new- it was fun and completely re-ridable and bothered no lifeguards with it's sonic squeals there. Psyclone at SFMM- yeah, it was just as bad as everyone said. Still, I hate to see any coaster torn down. Oh well.
  16. Yes Do you make the bed if nobody's going to come over on any particular day?
  17. From "The Ohioan": Cedar Fair Announces New Coaster-A Throwback To The Old Times "Dick Kinzel today announced the new project for King's Island, an amusement park located just north of the metropolitan Cincinnati area. The coaster, which will debut in spring of 2009 will be a hybrid coaster unlike any ever constructed before. "Rivertown Mule Train" will be a Bolliger and Mabillard design steel frame design which will feature live burros or pack-mules as a means of conveyance. The ride which will meander along an almost one mile path and will travel at the stately pace of 4-6 m.p.h depending on the whims of the live animals tethered to and propelling the ride. Riders sitting in the front row will be handed small whips or spurs to encourage a faster experience. "In all my days with the amusement park business, I've never see a ride more truly interactive," said Kinzel. The ride will feature a gentle terrain hugging profile with numerous curves and intervals where riders can dismout while the animals feed from specifically located troughs throughout the course. Kinzel said, "At each rest stop there will be kiosks selling upcharge items like French Fries, Cedar Fair merchandise, and real fur pellets from lookalike French and Indian traders. At these locations, we'll also be selling larger whips for the mules to spur them on to complete the journey. At some point, we may add a Karaoke machine." Riders in the front row are also eligible to purchase T-shirts and other insignia which proclaims "I kicked ASS on The Rivertown Mule Train". Look for this ride if you happen to venture to the Ohio Valley in 2009.
  18. My girlfriend and I will be going to her Twin Sister's house for Turkey, and then later going to my folk's house for beer and BS. All I know is that I am off and I am gonna enjoy my day off.
  19. This sounds awesome, all the layouts look pretty good. As far as the argument about the elevation change, I can see where there could exist the possibility of the third drop being longer than the first. Look at "The Beast"- the lift hill is less than 120 ft, but the first drop is almost 140, which then climbs 30 feet and drops 70 (on the suprise drop) so the differential between the first hill height and the bottom of the 2nd drop is already over 50 plus feet. Then the track angles downward from there. I don't have a topographical map of the area, but 70 ft elevation change doesn't look that impossible. Actually, I would hope it would be more than that (like Tatsu with a 240 ft elevation differential) but I would be happy, more than happy with 70 feet. And after we get the "Hyper" for KI I vote we get a "Real" B&M Inverted.
  20. Holiday World- May Six Flags Great America-, June, July, August, October. (Six visits altogether) Mt. Olympus- July Had plans to hit CP, but ran out of time.
  21. Great Pics that really take me back. KI was my 1st real theme park ever. My parents took me and my sister there in '78, so the big deal was "The Screamin' Demon" shuttle coaster and Kenton Keel's boat ride, most of the attractions (except the Racer) were just small time in comparison, but I remember having a blast. We went back a couple years later and "The Bat" was operational, but not that particular day. I was terribly disappointed about that, but made up for it on mulitiple rides of "The Beast" (which was still being built the first time I went). Is it just me, or was "The Vortex" like smooth as glass the first couple years? I tend to hit KI about every 3 years and it doesn't seem like it's aging real well.
  22. Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In- The 5th Dimension (Ugghhhhh) U.S. Get Back- The Beatles (ehhhh, okay) U.K.
  23. Which is just as bad as a buy one shoe, get the other shoe free sale. Oh no, it wasnt' me that got duped but I had this friend . . .
  24. Over a year ago. When was the last time you cracked your knuckles?
  25. And of course Vekoma the Gerbil. However, Vekoma brought his friend Curdle The Turtle (the lactose intolerant reptile) along for the ceremony and even though the event was somber enough, Vekoma felt doubly bad for Curdle when the Ice Cream Truck meandered down the lane at the cemetery and Curdle immediately had stomach cramps which interrupted the funeral rite being performed by the reuinted "Police" which caused Sting to accidentally slip and instead sing "Wrapped Around Your Sphincter" . . .
