Decided to join the cast of "Joanie Loves Chachi" The Musical ON ICE- but was summarily rejected because most of the people in the audience didn't 'buy' his performance in his Fonz cameo. Meanwhile, the Deeply Tanned Albino Man wrote an entry in his journal (because men don't keep diaries . . .)about Kid Tums stating that when she gets older she should . . .

SFMM Psyclone, was it ever a great ride?
JamesMC replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When SFGA built "Viper" (pretty much a clone of Psyclone and Georgia Cyclone) I thought, do I even want to get on this ride? I had ridden Psyclone at the time and found it unnecessarily slow and rough for such a small coaster. SFGA got something right, and I'm not sure exactly what it is because it Kicks A$$ and is far superior to the American Eagle. However, the design is almost a photcopy of Psyclone, so I'm not sure why one works and the other didn't. I am sad to see any coaster meet the wrecking ball without a ready replacement such as SFMM. Hope they add a GCI or Custom Coasters in the next couple of years. -
I like pre-drops- Raging Bull, Screamin' Eagle, Vortex etc. Overall, the height of the initial lift hill and the weight of the train affect overall speed on a normal coaster. Meaning, pre-drop or no pre-drop, the train will reach the same speed at the base of the first drop, however the amount of time it takes to reach that speed is modified. Let me point out, that if you had a 300 ft tall coaster with no pre-drop and a coaster with a pre-drop, normally speaking the same speed will be achieved. If however, you had a coaster with a 300 ft height but a vertical descent on the first drop of like 10-20 degrees (as opposed to most coasters where the descent is like 50 degreess or better) then wind friction would slow the train down somewhat, but in most regular designs, pre-drops have no effect on overall speed.

Best And Worst Things Ever
JamesMC replied to Manny In England's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Worst: Going to SFGAM to ride Z-Force and Deja Vu early in their debut season and finding them non-operational until later trips. Best: Going to SFMM for the Tatsu media day and having Revolution (which was slated as non-operating) open up, and me getting to ride it any number of times including the promo shot where it "dueled" with Tatsu and had fireworks for the event and televised. -
X at SFMM- waited 3 hours in line in almost 100 degree heat. After one hour they added a second train to the track "Which will help the line move faster" except that it took almost 45 minutes to get the second train on the track and running. The stupid pop machine in the line at two dollars of my money, so it cost me like 5 bucks to buy something to drink while in line. However, this was my first time on the ride, so there was no way I was getting out of the queue. I've been on it since a couple more times, but there is no way I'd wait more than say an hour for it.

Any Artist or Band who has a song in the top 40 that looks like this: Artist or Band's Name- "Featuring" Another Artist or Band- "With Special Guest" Another Artist or Band. And where the writers credits look like the phone book of a good sized town and mainly featuring samples of other songs and "Those Damn Finger Snaps And High Falsetto" If you need that many people to find talent in your own songs, then stop looking, you don't have any.

The Official "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"
JamesMC replied to socalMAN123's topic in Random, Random, Random
I thought it was a nearly perfect ending because............ SPOILERS BELOW (KINDA) Everybody who you really wanted to see live (assuming they were alive at the end of book6) were still alive and well. Yeah they killed off a lot of people, but in my opinion, it wasn't anyone that I had that much of investment of feelings for....(except maybe for Weasley).....and I was happy that Snape pulled a Darth Vader ending....awesome. -
Game: When was the last time you...

Two weeks ago at SFGAM- When was the last time you asked someone to scratch that part of your back that you can't reach when you have an itch? -
Pretzels or Krunchers (or Cape Cod) chips, with an ice cold can of Diet Pepsi.

immediately bored, so they quickly leafed through some new Lindsey Lohan Mug-shots for their next feature story photo ops. In the meantime, Mark Shapiro halted demolition on "Flashback" at Six Flags Magic Mountain citing "This portion of California rests on any number of active fault lines. The thinking is that eventually, seismic activity will relocate "Flashback" for us to a different area of the park where it won't disturb the Lifeguards and may enhance the overall enjoyment of the ride by bending and realigning the superstructure. If not, we have a crazed obese man who will consume it whole for us as long as we provide the sour cream and pico de gallo garnishment . . ." . . .

No. Have you ever seen Mt. Rushmore blanketed in fog?

Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
JamesMC replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
Cool and rainy in the morning when I woke up. I went to Six Flags Great America today (70+ miles north) and it was mostly cloudy, but warmer and humid. No rain tho. -
the particular seal he had purchased at the "Aquatic Gift Shop" at Six Flags Magic Mountain just seemed to approve of everything, including Vekoma rides which made Elissa encourage Robb to dispose of him in the quickest manner possible . . .

I am more jazzed about the 7th book, though I do want do see the movie. Are you excited that they are finally starting to film Indiana Jones Part IV?

Not anymore, but that's all I had from the time I was born until I was like 10. Do you know anybody that still has a functional 8-track player?

It's my belief that there really is no such thing as a fear of heights. It is merely a fear of falling. If you were to ride up to the top of a 10,000 foot building with no windows, you would most likely not fear that height. (unless of course you are fearful of elevators and then my point is moot). I have stood on a piece of land that is 14,000 feet high and not been bothered. I have also sat on a rock that was 100 feet above a waterfall and kinda been freaked out about it, because there were no handrails or safety guards. When you get in line for a coaster or tall attraction, just remind yourself that all the people who got on the ride got off safely. Coasters and other such attractions are by far safer means of transportaion than your car statistically speaking. And way more fun.

SFGA is my homepark- Most of the above advice is good and on the money. Here's what I usually do: Visit on a Tuesday (I have been told repeatedly that Tues. and Weds. are the least crowded days at the park and usually it's very true) I get on Deja Vu (if operational) first, then to Raging Bull ( a high capacity ride, but it's always more fun when there's only a ten min wait early in the day). Head over to Viper (which is by far better than the American Eagle for airtime even though it's much smaller) Hit whatever the heck else you want for awhile (though the best next stop would be a nostalgia trip on Whizzer and then Superman) Then go hit the waterpark for a bit and cool off. It may be Illinois, but when it's hot here, it's also humid, very humid. If you go on a hot and humid day, expect a T-Storm or rain for at least a portion of the day. Vertical Velocity WILL in fact break down at at least one or two points during the day. It ususally returns to operational status within 30 minutes or so. Lines for Demon and American Eagle are usually not that terribly long. Iron Wolf is fun, BUT expect to get your head bopped around a bit though. Batman is Batman- no surprises except for the wait time, the queue is mostly hidden, and until you get into the main station, you don't know if the wait is 5 min or 25 min. Rajun Cajun is not terribly enjoyable, the idea is fun but not especially smooth. Go on it once to say you did it, then get some aspirin. If it's open by then, Giant Drop is fun, but that's another mystery queue where you can't tell how long the wait is because the line is hidden. "Revolution" is a small Huss Frisbee- but it spins like there's no tomorrow, if you like that kind of thing. I've seen more people walk off this one turning green than I have at the larger versions like King's Island's Delirium. Fiddler's Fling is really fun too if you like flat-spins. Splashwater Falls is extremely unimaginative but wet, the two flumes are both okay, but you'll get wetter on Logger's Run than on Yankee Clipper. The Space Shuttle simulator ride should be scrapped or sold to NASA. Don't Bother. In fact, don't even look at it. "Hometown Fun Machine", "Triple Play" and "East River Crawler" are all Carnival rides, but for some reason the lines are usually short and I enjoy the heck out of them. I also like "Whirligig" too. Whatever you do, have a good time. SFGA is fun.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
JamesMC replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Went to SFGA for the 1st time this season yesterday. I tried to follow up on both rumors I have posted before (watercoaster for Hurricane Harbor next year- new coaster for 2009) but got nothing more than a "We're supposed to get 'something'" from one of the female employees (lifeguard) at H.H. That's it- sorry. I tried. -
That would have to be Tatsu on Media Day last year. I was there with all the TPR'ers- I think it was 14 or more rides- with the first one being before the sun came up and the fog burned off. Just completely awesome!!! After that I guess it would be most of the debut coasters at Cedar Point (minus Maverick- haven't been there this year) since 1982. I have ridden all of the debut coasters at SFGA (my home park- which doesn't count here in this thread though, since 1980 when they turned "Turn Of The Century" into "Demon")

I live in NorthWest Indiana (born and raised). I can be in Chicago or the Indiana Dunes (on a good traffic day) in 30 min. I live about 2 miles from the IN/IL border. My home park is Six Flags Great America, but I can go to Six Flags K.K./King's Island/Cedar Point/Holiday World in about five hours from here.

As a kid, I used to love BK- but after they switched the meat for their burgers and whatever the heck the did to their fries- I'll say Mickey D's. Their taste (whatever you call it) has at least been consistent. I will concede that BK's breakfast sausage sandwich is tasty---and I used to just love their Chicken International "Italian" Sandwich. I WILL NOT go to BK for burgers-disgusting. Let's skip the middle man and just let me throw them whole in the toilet.
