  1. Never got on Dive To Atlantis when it was open. I saw how slow the line was moving and decided I'd rather get on Hades 5 times in the same time frame than on DTA once. As far as Disk-O goes- it was fun, assuming you could find a seat that wasn't broken down . Rode it a couple times in both it's outside and Parthenon (inside) locations.
  2. Not much anymore, but I LOVED them and watched them when I was much younger-what a hoot!!! Have you ever driven for 400+ miles and NOT listened to the radio or c.d. player?
  3. I made a trip to SFSTL- and my last coaster was Evel Knieval- and woo-hoo- what a fun little ride that turned out to be. Prior to that (within an hour of my last ride) I got on The Boss, Screaming Eagle and Tony Hawk (which broke down shortly afterward).
  4. I've been going to my home park of Six Flags Great America since I was ten in 1979- probably been there near 100 times altogether. My first visit was the last year of Turn Of The Century (before it modified into The Demon), The second season of The Tidal Wave, and when Willard's Whizzer still utilized four (count 'em) trains.
  5. Considering that it is a "Hyper" the first drop will exceed 200 ft. By how much is anyone's guess, BUT looking at the pictures posted, the ravine is at least 40-50 ft below the starting grade (look at the pix with the bulldozer-or semi trailers elsewhere on TPR forums- even casually eyballing that let's assume at least a 45 foot terrain drop) and that second hill towards the first helice may well be as long if not longer than the initial drop-assuming that the initial drop doesn't already utilize this. In any case, I'll be there next year to ride it.
  6. How about Adventure Express at KI- there's quite a bit of ride before the first lift . . .
  7. I was in line for Raging Bull last week at Six Flags Great America and although surrounded by people almost 20 years younger than me . . .there was some clown right behind me trying to be funny the entire 30 minute wait. Mostly annoying to me he DID actually say something that made me laugh out loud. Kid Behind Me: "If I was the guy around at the start of our nation's capital, some heads woulda' rolled" His Friend: "Huh?" Kid: "I mean if I was the city planner for Washington D.C. I woulda fired the guy who designed the Washington Monument" Friend: "Why?" Kid:" You ever see the thing??? It looks NOTHING like George Washington!!"
  8. That's easy, people catch them where the chinchillas stop and take a break. If the Germans call their homeland "Deutschland" in their native tongue, why do we call it "Germany" in English?
  9. "Pork & Beans", "Troublemaker" and "Thought I Knew" from the "Red Album" from Weezer.
  10. I got my season pass to SFGA last week (I was there on Tuesday when it was only 48 for a high) and got to ride Dark Knight. So today I was also there (a nice 84 temp) and I avoided Dark Knight. Pretty much everything you said in your TR I posted last week in a DK thread. I think kids would like this ride, I really do. But I stand by my opinion that the actual theming on the ride is pointless because you don't have a chance to see anything. I also think that it's too short and it doesn't offer me as an adult thrill-seeking rider enough satisfaction. I'd go on it again if it were a 15 min or less wait, or if I happen to bring along someone who hasn't ridden that wants to go on. Otherwise, I'll do like I did today and avoid it. I'd rather wait 25 min for Raging Bull than 60 min for DK. I am gonna try and go again next Mon or Tues when Hurricane Harbor opens for the weekdays. Nice pics and Raging Bull does have an awesome new paint job.
  11. That Illinois Classic from 1980- the one and only DEMON (although there really are TWO of these rides) at Six Flags Great America.
  12. I've never ridden the ride, although it looks fun (most Shwarzkopf's are) but the sale has also been reported on Screamscape.com. Demon Drop at Cedar Point has been up for sale for a couple years and it's still thrilling riders daily as best I know! If you can, ride it while it's still there. I had the same thing happen to me at my homepark of SFGA with Deja Vu, but our ride DID get sold. I miss it terribly.
  13. We are interrupting this program for an alert from the National Weather Service. Doppler Radar has confirmed oversized raindrops falling near Des Moines, Iowa. Again, We are interrupting this program for an alert from the National Weather Service. Doppler Radar has confirmed oversized raindrops falling near Des Moines, Iowa. Residents of this area should expect a heavier than normal usage of Bounty Paper Towels (The Quicker Picker Upper). This alert will expire at 4:00 a.m. Central Time. We now return you to your local programming . . .
  14. No, but I have gone for a walk in the rain. Would you like a rocking chair that does rock from front to back but instead rocks from side to side?
  15. "The Whizzer" at Six Flags Great America- it's such a tame ride, but at the same time it's a classic because where else are you gonna ride something like this? I've been riding this since 1979. Got Shwartzkopf? I do!
  16. I appreciate the feedback from my opinion, but my opinion is just that- it's mine and it's my Opinion. I am not discounting those of you who like the ride or do not like the ride. I think that this ride IS geared towards the Family-Ride concept, but that's just not my cup of tea. Not everyone thinks like I do and that's okay. I think that the younger crowds would probably appreciate this ride more than I did and that's great. . . Dark Knight is a peppy little ride but for me personally, it just doesn't offer enough thrills or consistent theming to make me want to ride again unless it has a short wait, or unless I am with someone who hasn't ridden it. I DO however like this ride more than the jarring (and looks like it should be more fun than it is) Rajun' Cajun. I AM however waiting for the next Thrill-Coaster at SFGA. It's been a long time since Superman! A long, long time.....
  17. I went to SFGA yesterday and got to ride The Dark Knight- here's my opinion. Because of the preshow, the line itself starts moving for awhile and stops suddenly every 6-8 minutes. Once the line moves into the former Theatre Royale, guests are moved thru queues that slant downward. Mark my words, this will be a problem in the future once that first guest falls because the floors are NOT level as you descend to the preshow. The line itself being enclosed was a great relief- as yesterday when I visited the temp had dropped over 30 degrees from Memorial Day when it was humid and almost 80 outside. Yesterday's temp. was almost 50 but with a strong wind blowing all day. In other words, it was a late fall day and not an almost-summer day. Once I got in the Pre-show, it was entertaining, However- I was the first guest of this particular wave of riders allowed into the pre-show, when I stopped where the attendant had told me to stop, (right before opposite doors on the other side) I had people asking me why I had stopped there. It wasn't until a minute or two later when the door automatically shut on the far end until they figured it out. Also, I did not understand why there wasn't any queuing inside the preshow. It would not have affected the amount of people who were let inside at any time, AND would have prevented the "Hey, I was in Front Of You" comments I heard when the assembled mass attempted to leave after the Pre-Show. The Pre-show itself was kinda fun, however once that finished after all the lights, cameras action, our group emerged into a tunnel, (boring) where we caught up to the people who had exited the pre-show before us probably 8 minutes before. THUD. I thought I was being critical not stepping immediately onto the ride, but at least half a dozen comments from people behind me said the same thing. Even if I had been the last person in the Pre-show and had to follow everyone out to the loading track, I would have expected that the first person out of the pre-show (me, in this instance) would have found themselves boarding right away without a ten minute delay. The ride itself is quite peppy. In fact, too much so. Basically a Mad Mouse that tries to move so fast that all the scenery is missed and the themeing is irrelevant. I caught glimpses of everything but what I saw, who knows, I know there was stuff there and I was looking, but I couldn't tell you how it related to the Pre-show or to what the ride was trying to portray. The girl who sat in the rear seat just behind me was terrified to go on it because she didn't like coasters, but at the end, she said the exact same thing I was thinking . . ."That was it???" I'll go back on the ride if I happen to be with someone who wants to ride it and has never ridden it before. I'll even go on again if I can get on it within 15 min. I will never ride by myself if the line is over 15 min maximum. I miss Deja Vu, and I can't wait til the (hopeful) Dive Machine next year. Final Opinion Dark Knight=More Hoopla Than Thrill
  18. Boost sales of Bayer Aspirin, (Vekoma) having recently bought out the company. Six Flags head honchos decided to make medicine available at all Vekoma rides on premesis, but an an upcharge. Meanwhile, Gary Coleman of "Diff'rent Strokes" fame announced via a NBC "The More You Know" Ad . . .
  19. Because it took two people to think that madness up. Why hasn't someone invented the cross between the urinal and the toilet?
  20. The photos are okay, it's just her clothing that is off. Do you want a waffle right now?
  21. I'll end up getting the season pass parking so I'll end up saving money. I truly feel bad for the people who only get to Great America once during the season or are people coming in from out of town. For $25 they should let you bring your car on the rides or at least wash and buff them while you are in the park. I'm sorry, even with the fact that I'll get to SFGA six or more times this season, I think the cost of the parking has gotten to be that I'd rather park nearby and walk to the park. Six Flags has gotten a little too greedy for my tastes.
  22. Belinda Carlile- "Gone" They play it at work and it's groovy-
  23. Yes, Most Definitely. I am going to marry her. Have you ever had Ramen Noodles for lunch?
