  1. Decided that since he already had the waffle maker in hand, to plug it in and actually make a waffle. However, due to the lack of Aunt Jemima and Log Cabin Syrups, he became enraged again and tossed Simon & Garfunkle's Greatest Hits vinly LP at . . .
  2. SFMM announced their new coaster today. Mark Shapiro said "In keeping with the theme of naming new coasters for former public figures, I give you the newest Vekoma 'Muhammed Ali' because you are sure to get your head boxed" Or they could simply call it "Ouch!" The Ride.
  3. I for one am not impressed with SFGA's Dark Knight coaster. The rumor is that they will recieve a B&M Dive Machine for '09 which I applaud, but in the meantime, I would've rather them spent the money on new stuff for Hurricane Harbor than to add a 2nd Wild Mouse. Yes, I'll stand in a painfully long line to ride it anyway, just to say I did, but really, I think once will be enough. Hopefully I'll be surprised, but we shall see. From what I've heard (probably the wrong thread for this, but since I am on the subject of SFGAM) Deja Vu still has at least one more year to operate but not Splashwater Falls.
  4. Here's some of the names I like: AirPower- Flying Coaster Anomoly-4th Dimension Coaster AtmosFear- Giga or Strata coaster BoneShaker- GCI type woodie Cobra-Wooden Terrain Doppleganger-wooden racer or dueling coaster Gale Force- Steel Hyper-Twister Iron Lion- steel multi inversion/floorless Reckless Abandon- Steel Hyper Steel Pilot- Inverted Coaster
  5. Queen: "A Night At The Opera"- sure everybody's heard "Bohemian Rhapsody" but the other songs are the real hidden gems. Try "Death On Two Legs" and especially "The Prohphet's Song". This album goes from clever pop "Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon", "Seaside Rendezvous", to rock like "I'm In Love With My Car", "DOTL" and "TPS" to ballads like "Love Of My Life", nostalgia like "'39" and "Good Company". I first listened to this album (when it was NEW 32 years ago) and have never grown tired of it.
  6. the simulator "Flashback" ride. After ten minutes of sitting in the Virtual Vehicle that didn't move around or do anything he complained to Mark Shapiro who was at the controls. Mark whispered "Shhhhh, we can't disrupt the lifeguards. Be patient, we might send this ride out sometime for a test run in January." In any case Elissa was amused to see that in her new thesaurus, that Vekoma was an equivalent for "HeadBanging" and that former followers of such groups as Quiet Riot, Judas Priest, and Metallica now called their signature movement "Vekoma-ing", . . .
  7. My home park is Six Flags Great America: Steel: Raging Bull Wood: Viper
  8. in a fussy mood to say the very least. However, the next day a law was passed declaring the previous day illegal, and so all parks that had taken down their rollercoasters were instructed to put them right back up. In the madness however, some coaster parts were mismatched and people riding Riddler at Six Flags Magic Mountain, were wondering why the ride was running with Flashback trains. In an effort to downplay the incident, Mark Shapiro showed up in liine for Riddler and displayed several cunning sleight-of-hand magic tricks. However, Kid Tums who was in a papoose on Elissa's back . . .
  9. Superman and Raging Bull at SFGAM (I can't remember which one I rode last, but I rode both of them right before I left the park). This was on the last Tuesday of Daily Park Operations.
  10. I made my first trip to Holiday World this year with my girlfriend and her daughter. We had a blast and the Voyage (at least pre-trim brakes) was awesome. In talking with one of the employees, he stated that the waterpark would be the focus of the 2008 expansion, which has now proved to be true. He also said that it would be 2010 for the next coaster which was likely to be a steelie. Well, half the predictions came true anyway, I guess we just have to wait and see what the next couple years bring. I think they could pull off a Suspended/Inverted/Flyer pretty well and make it "fit" and blend into the terrain. What I don't expect is a Hyper or a Mega-Inversion. We shall see.
  11. the restroom facilities en masse which quickly led to them being banned from the establishment. Meanwhile, the cousin to the former touring drummer for Wang Chung walked in but before he could say "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" . . .
  12. Void Where Prohibited. Please Recycle.
  13. I've mentioned this a long time ago in another thread but here's my idea: A B&M Launched Flyer. You'd sit down in the Flyer seats and instead of being pulled up into the doggy-style position, you'd recline into a laying position facing backwards (towards the rear of the station.) While on your back, you'd roll into a launch segment that would boost you up into the last half of a pretzel loop so that you'd be in the flying position and the ride would continue from there, and you'd be facing forwards like a normal B&M flyer. And by the way- I want a B&M flyer with TWO pretzel loops, whether it's this one or not.

  15. I live in NorthWest Indiana- but am just about 25 miles from Chicago.
  16. Independence from England and the Monarchy. However, having been born an American on American soil and thusly rightfully being already free from those bonds, her PR man told her to 'downplay' the incident and stop throwing tea-bags in her toilet during media spots. Meanwhile Six Flags Magic Mountain decided to purchase Deja Vu from Six Flags Over Georgia and place it on the former location of Psyclone. Mark Shapiro's comment on the purchase was thus: "It'll be a great play on the concept of Deja Vu to not only have one, but two of them at our park. Don't worry, neither one of them will operate normally, but we are thinking of turning the Deja II coasters train around to run backwards".
  17. Well, I am sure I am not gonna make it to the show, but hopefully they will film it for a DVD release, that'd be awesome.
  18. Yay for the new Indiana Jones movie!!! Boo for the overly long title- how 'bout we shorten it to just Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull? or Indiana Jones: Kingdom Of The Skull
  19. Sure- but it's a meaningless made up word. Can you make an anagram out of your whole name?
  20. My Two Theories (and my .02): 1) It's kind of B&M's signature 2.) It takes up less room/less structure than a straight drop- which equals less cost to build.
  21. Internet Chatter has it being a GCI with Milennium Flyers. I've also heard it will have a DC Comics theme/name (which I despise- I hate rides named after movies/shows/characters- although I may very much love the ride itself.)
  22. I was just talking about the pic since it was posted- sorry for the confusion. I just wanted readers to know that what has been pictured is not where the new ride is going to be located (that's up in the air/a mystery).
  23. As an addendum to my first post in this thread I forgot to mention a tie for the Best Category: Getting the whole train on The Beast at King's Island to myself before the ride opened to the public that day. On the first ride of the day I rode with the park's PR person.
  24. Aha- here's one better- it's the exact Holiblog that explains the picture: This is verbatim from the website: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 Before anyone's head explodes... I give. I thought the statement that I would reveal what's being built next week was a clear indication it was not something really big. It was simply something being built. Near the highway. In clear view of, well, anyone driving by. Creating a bit of a buzz. Alas, coaster enthusiasts, ye hardly know me. You've been on top of the world guessing what is going on. Dreaming big. Posting bigger. Finally someone old enough (sigh!) caught the puns. We've Only Just Begun. For All We Know. Close To You. ...and I just added another one in this post (Top of the World). Just a tiny bit familiar? A brother and sister act... No, not Donny and Marie. Not Will and Natalie either. Karen and Richard. That's right ... The Carpenters. Carpenters. Hmmmm... We have carpenters on staff. Hard-working fellows. They deserve a new workshop, don't they? They've outgrown the old one. That's right -- the carpenters are building themselves a new Carpenters Shop. Meanwhile, It's Going To Take Some Time before we announce what's new for you next year.
  25. Sorry to spoil all the guesses BUT- in a link Screamscape posted after this announcment was made (with the pictures of the land being cleared) to another HoliBlog that clarified what this space was used for. In fact, and somebody got it right earlier in this thread, that the Carpenter's songs were the hint that what they are building "Here" is a new carpenters workshop . If I can find the exact Holiblog I will post a link in an edit to this post. SEE MY NEXT POST. They are adding something to the park, but as was hinted at (also in an earlier reply to this thread) it's going to be in the waterpark. I have no clue as to what it is, only that in talking with employees there in May when I went, a couple of them said things to that effect. One employee I talked to said that Will Koch is looking at adding a flying or inverted coaster in the future that will go down towards the lake by Raven, but he seemed to think/hope that this would not happen until 2010 or so if the numbers are good. AGAIN, that was just ONE employee talking.
