I was at the mountain today. Not too bad of a day with most rides (except Riddler) running 2 trains. Much to my surprise, lots of work on F.T. That closed Superman (closed for sometime now, but they've ripped up the concrete by the Superman circle near it's entrance), Gold Rusher, and the path up to Samurai Summit from in front of Gold Rusher. I noticed the concrete work from the Sky Tower. I would've thought they'd wait until next week when the park returns to weekend only operation. I'm guessing they just realized, they way behind schedule. Big surprise there...

^^ I was at Knotts today, and was surprised that the stage coach was running. I figured this would be another undetermined closing of a ride. I don't ride it, but it's good it was back for families. The park was moderately busy today. Montezuma's Revenge was down more than up today. I was there last night for for their New Years Eve celebration. It was getting too cold for me, but yes the park was beautiful. Especially the kids area with the lights and decorations. They had live DJ's with different music at different locations in the park. The stage near Jaguar had a DJ playing Spanish / Hispanic music. The main stage by the train station had a great DJ mixing dance music that I enjoyed. If it was only warmer for this "Florida freeze baby" I would've stayed until close.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I was riding today at MM, and it felt like I was at Cedar Point. It was 42 when the park opened. Not pleasant riding weather for me a Florida baby... I'm not sure what the wind chill is when it's 42, and you're on Goliath going 85 MPH. -
Friday report from Magic Mountain: I arrived around 3pm Ninja running 2 trains Pocky running 2 trains now Yea! Gold Rusher closed, but opened later Scream closed As others reported, Superman's entry has a sign staying it's closed for future improvements. I wanted to ride LLDoD with Superman running to shake the tower. One other assorted note, since I was at both Knotts and MM today, I saw churros were over $1 cheaper at the Mountain.

^^ I'm really not sure why all the constant bashing of MM. I find most of the ride ops friendly and helpful. Although, I'm not a big fan of the "Ice Queen" who's in charge of the park. I've been to every 6 Flags park in the US. I live in South Florida, but it is my favorite amusement park here in the US. I was there this past weekend, and renewed my season pass for 2013. Many many years ago it WAS a very dangerous place. It has dramatically changed. I never think about my safety there. I totally enjoy myself with each visit. I know many here will disagree with me on my point of view, but I always enjoy MM.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

That's because Kinzel's mentality of running the company was stuck in the 70's. This is great news though I have never stayed at any of the resorts but I've heard stories about them. I'm really loving what Mr. Ouimet is doing with the company and the parks. CP was actually a bit more enjoyable this past summer than it was the last few years under Kinzel's watch though there is still a bit of work to do to make it the great park it used to be. Agreed! Still a lot more work is necessary to return the employee attitudes back to their peak 4 - 5 years ago. -
Dania Beach Hurricane Declares Bankruptcy

This is a sad day for us South Floridians! I loved the Hurricane... I was hoping that it would be moved to Miami for a second life. It was a great Woodie with lots of airtime and a very comfortable ride. I see it every week when I fly out from Ft. Lauderdale airport each Monday morning for work. I'm on vacation in Phoenix right now, but I'm severely depressed! Goodbye - DBH. -

"It also looks like Blue Streak is receiving some love!" That's great since my favorite ride at the Point is Blue Streak!!! -

Yes, I agree the track looks great. Where are these pictures from? (location). Is the factory over in Europe or do they use an American plant? I'm a big B&M fan over Intamin these days. I'm looking forward to a high throughput great experience next season. -
I didn't see any part the of track left when I was out there on Friday. Supposedly, that whole area, including the abandoned shopping area, will be used for future expansion. But right now it's all hush hush- if you know what I mean. I don't go to SFOT much, but I saw old red track and trains in the back of the parking lot viewable from the top of the hill on Titan. I'm guessing those are the remains...

Okay for both of you critics of me. The flash pass I got (front of line pass) was for 1 ride! It's not like I got a real flash pass (which I wouldn't expect). You had to tell the manager what one ride you wanted, but it didn't include NTAG. At that time all the lines were short (except NTAG). The total time expended for this episode was about 1 hour. All the rides became very busy by then. I know breakdowns happen. I ride thousands of coasters every year. Regarding the people waiting in line (wasted time); they were under shelter, unlike us near the top of the hill. If I'm in line waiting and the ride breaks, I'd leave. I didn't have that option on the lift hill, and waiting to be manually off loaded on the final break run. Guys get over it. It's only my opinion. Isn't that what these forums are for???

I was at the park today, and yes it looks great. It wasn't running last night - Friday which was a disappointment. Today was a very cold and blustery day at the park. I was surprised at all the people there with the temps and forecast for rain to boot. I got stuck at the top of Titan today for more than 15 minutes. It was very cold and uncomfortable. The ride-op they sent up to speak with us, hurt his knee so he needed rescue too. Quite a fiasco! We then finished the ride but had to "walk the plank" (final brake run) because they were running 3 trains, and they couldn't dispatch for some reason. The park was "real cheap" with the compensation IMO. We got a 1 ride flash pass good today only but not on NTAG. They took our names and phone numbers but nothing else. I'm sure nothing else will happen. I wanted lunch for all this time wasted. It took forever to off load us and take our information. I'm not impressed.

I totally agree with you. I was at the park yesterday and today - Sunday. I think one of the trains is worse than the other, but still brutal either way. I'll only ride in the first train (front row if the line isn't too long). I can't imagine what it's like further back. I hope Melinda gets her funding for topper track in 2013. I prefer the Scream Machine so much more... I guess I'm more of an out and back guy over a twister.

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Great more mechanical lizards!!! I won't pay for something like this... I'm a shareholder in Cedar Fair, so I'm sure this is making money at their other parks. I should be happy since it's making me money. -
I've been on all Cedar Fair Windseekers (aka Breaking Wind). I've not felt unsafe on any of them. IMO, at the top the ride spins too fast for me to see the surroundings clearly. It's an okay ride, but "nothing to write home to Mother about." As others have said better to be safe than sorry. Mondial has proven not to knowledgeable from the start with their ride. I remember at Coastermania at Cedar Point last year the ride not running because the seats were crashing into each other, before they modified it. We were just looking up watching that! What part of being on Lake Erie, wind at 300' and it's name didn't they understand?
