  1. I was at the park for Coastermania in June for the weekend. I rode GateKeeper about 12 times and I was hurting for days because of the vest clamping down on me. Again, I'm a skinny guy without much natural padding. Yesterday even coming into the station, the vest was still loose and not crushing me. I could breathe.
  2. That would figure.... I had season passes back in 2001 and 2002.... I went probably 10 times in the 2 years... x always broke.... then... went again 2006/7 about 4 times.... x always broke...I swear, i'll never get to ride it... hopefully WCB its open... I never rode it. Last time I was there was a few years ago when they were upgrading the ride. Next week I'll be there and I don't think it'll be up. I don't think I'm destined to ride X2. You're not missing much except for the credit IMO. It's one of the rides I don't bother with at the Mountain.
  3. Today was a busy day at the park. I just wanted to post that I had a comfortable ride on GateKeeper. I was in row 4, and the vest didn't clamp down on my collarbone. It didn't lock down at all, which was a pleasant surprise. I'm guessing not all the seats have been modified yet from previous recent posts. Mine was a comfortable ride with my arms up.
  4. ^ Mantis is just too compact of a ride. I love Riddler's Revenge at Magic Mountain. The only "fix" for this ride is to stretch it out. That won't happen. Yes, I rode Chang before it moved to Great Adventure as Green Lantern. It was smoother as Chang than it is now in New Jersey.
  5. Yes, according to PointBuzz they will have an announcement on Tuesday 8/27 regarding 2014. I'm sure it's not a new coaster.
  6. I was at the park today, and it was just a great day to ride. I was there for almost 5 hours and got 25 rides. Most of them on Diamondback - my fav at the park. Vertical construction has started on Banshee. I last looked at around 4pm, and at least 6 blue beams were placed by the crane on footers. They also have Banshee t shirts in the gift shop already. Not sure if this is related, but Flight Deck was closed when I walked back at 4.
  7. Here is a sad report from another source - an ACE event. The lift motor for El Toro has blown! They are going to try to rebuild it, but if unsuccessful the ride is done for the season. If they're able to rebuild it may only be a few weeks that it's down. I know they'll (6 Flags) do their best. I just wanted to share this bit of bad news this morning.
  8. I'm a skinny guy and that restraint kept clamping down more and more during the ride. It became uncomfortable towards the end for me.
  9. I'm just curious.. Did they ever finish fixing the restraints on GateKeeper so they don't clamp down on you during the ride? I was there in June for Coastermania, and it was painful after about 6 rides or so. I know they were doing it seat by seat. I'll be back in a few weeks again to ride, and wondered if I'll be in pain again. I know TPR was there the past few days. Anyone got a sore collarbone?
  10. I agree Dragster's launch is much smoother than "Kingda Krap's." Plus no OTSR's on Dragster. I do prefer Xcelerator's launch and ride much more at Knotts in California.
  11. I haven't been to SFA in a very long time. I tried to research this on their website this morning, but it keeps locking up with either firefox or chrome. It appears like they've got an early entry program for gold pass members. How does this work at this park and what ride are included if applicable?
  12. I totally agree! I'll only sit in rows 1 or 2. Always a great airtime filled ride! Maybe I should try the last row next time. Not bad for a 49 year old... I hope C.P. will do something for it's 50th birthday next year. It's my fav at the park.
  13. I totally agree!! From your keyboard to God's ears...
  14. I was at the Mountain today. Several rides with 1 train operation: Scream, Goliath, Batman that I noticed. I heard an interesting rumor regarding Colossus. Sound like it's going to get the RMC treatment in the future. This probably will be delayed with the incident on NTAG in Dallas. The new twist I heard today was both sides of Colossus would be combined to make the largest woodie anywhere. They normally don't run both sides at the same time, and the combination would make a ride approaching 6 minutes in length. Again, just a rumor and definitely an interesting one...
  15. I haven't been on YOLO yet, but I hear the restraints are painful on the shins. I'll be there for WCB in September. My #1 by far is Goliath. I can and have ridden this coaster all day and come back for more.
  16. Hey Robb, I expected the MM price to be expensive. I know that's not your fault. The Knotts package is a deal! Have you set any times (morning ERT and evening ERT) for these events yet?
  17. I've always enjoyed Magnum. The airtime is great! You're right with the comments about when it first opened there was nothing to compare it to - smoothness wise. I love the layout including the bunny (aka: ball buster) hops coming in. If they would work on or replace the trains that would be perfect IMO. The seats need padding, so it's not so painful. I don't have a lot of that (padding) on me. Also little more room beneath the lap-bar would aid the boarding process. Not much space between the bar and your thighs when you're getting in. I'm a small guy, so I can't imagine what it's like for larger people (ACERS)?
  18. ^ That sounds great. I can't wait to ride it again (and again) in August with no pain!
  19. ^ Thats great news! I rode Gatekeeper 10 times over the Coastermania weekend and my collarbone wasn't happy. I'll be back in August for vacation and more rides. The mods should be complete by then...
  20. ^ To the best of my knowledge, I think it's still standing. It was such a great ride with thick padded seats and lots of airtime! I really miss it!
  21. C.P. just added a live webcam to their site. It's a Gemini Midway live webcam. Not sure why they chose that location. Not much going on there to deserve a live feed?
  22. Not yet, and I agree with the biometric sensors, although they don't always work. Many times at Busch Gardens in Tampa, the index finger sensor doesn't always work especially in the warm summer weather. For me the season pass scan has always been reliable.
  23. I just watched the video of Yolocoaster, and I'll give credit where credit is due. Bonnie's speech emphasized that the creation of this ride was a team effort. That's the first time I heard her give anyone else credit for something. Maybe she has changed. Looks like quite a ride. I'll be there in September for WCB to test it out. This was my 666th post. I guess now I'm possessed and starting to like her.
  24. My last comment on Jay. The employee attitudes are mirrors of management. During Jay's reign, I found the staff to be the best since I've been coming to the Mountain. Now, they're like Bonnie's - aka Ice Queen.
