I was at the park this afternoon. It was busy with all the kids from Argentina line jumping, and then acting like they don't understand English. Lot's of screaming and chanting didn't add to my pleasure. "FF" is coming right along. I'll try to get some pictures of the remaining parts stored off site tomorrow. It really dominates the skyline.

No news from me on X2 since I don't like it or ride it. It did shorten the other lines for me - thanks. Today was a great operations day at the park in my opinion. First of all it wasn't very crowded. I arrived at 2pm after flying across country to get there. All the rides had 2 train operation (YOLO, Goliath, Scream, "Pocky",Ninja, Colossus, Riddler, Goldrusher), and for the most part were well staffed. Superman was even running both sides today! I got quite a bit of tower interaction on Lex several times. Some footer work where the old tree was for the new ride. They've done a lot of blacktop work where there were leaks and major cracks in park walkways. A lot of good has happened since I was there on 12/30. See not always bad news. First ride of my 2014 season = YOLO!!!

I totally agree with everything you said about MM. For me it's my #1 park. I go there for the rides, not the ambiance. Sure things could be better. Bitching about the new roof over YOLO is absurd! I also grew up close to Cedar Point. It used to be a great park with employees that loved their jobs and customers - not anymore. It changed for the worse over 5 or 6 years ago. I find the MM rideops more hospitable than Cedar Point. I go to MM at least 15 - 20 days per year.

In regards to that, they are required by law to show that video since its a safety video that opened with the ride. If any of the TVs aren't displaying the video or the DVD player breaks, then the ride cannot run until it is fixed. I've ridden Xcelerator before when the monitors were blank, and it wasn't between showings. Sorry, but it just seemed silly to me especially with all the people there yesterday waiting to ride.

I was back at Knotts again today and it was loaded with people again. One of the employees said they were expecting 45,000 people today. He also said next week for all 7 days they were expecting 10,000 total. I also witnessed the dumbest reason to shut down Xcelerator today. It was near noon and someone noticed the DVD wasn't playing on the TV sets on the loading platform. It took 20 minutes to fix that and resume operation. All I can say is Oh MY! And people complain about Magic Mountain.

^ Thanks for the explanation. This cable work looked like a major production, so I left. The crowds were just too much to deal with. I'm a Cedar Fair stockholder, so the crowds made me happy from that point of view. I'll try to get back to the park on Monday at opening, before I head back to South Florida where I live.

I was at Knotts today, and it probably was my worst visit ever. The park was overloaded. That's a good thing for Cedar Fair. The thing that upset me was Xcelerator was down, and it's not posted on their website or on the sign at the entrance to the park. This looks like a bad thing since the cable was out of the track, and they had at least 4 mechanics working on it. It maybe down for some time?? Quite a disappointing day for me... It's my fav.

I know you're a SFMM Fanboy so this will probably fall on deaf ears, but what's so terrible about not being in the coaster race!?!?!? I applaud Cedar Point for getting out of the 'race' and letting SFMM *win* but fail as a park as a whole! Cedar Point is a multi-day family destination with lots of rides and attractions. It shouldn't be competing with SFMM as it's in a different class and category. Hey Elissa, to each his or her own. I was just stating a fact that it took Cedar Point 7 years since their last coaster - Maverick, to put in a new one. It's 2013, so 2020 would be 7 years from now. -

It took 7 years to get their latest coaster - Gatekeeper. They obviously are not in the new coaster race anymore. That's too bad... -
Merry Christmas to all on this my favorite thread which is about my favorite park - MM. No rides today , but I'll be there tomorrow. I didn't get to the park until 3:30 after flying in from South Florida to spend my holidays here. The park wasn't too bad. I didn't get to ride my fav Goliath or YOLO. Both had waits of over 1 hour. Nice to see "Pocky" running 2 trains again. The #2 train delivers the best ride. Also 2 trains on Scream and Riddler. Only 1 train on Goldrusher and Ninja, but still not much of a line. I'll definitely be back tomorrow for more! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND ENJOY THE RIDE...
