  1. Definitely a nice big crane. MM better get going on their construction. Here is a quote from the Cedar Point park president John Hildebrant's twitter account on their new ride's amazing progress "Just walked out of GateKeeper meeting . . . we should make the final track connection next week.."
  2. A quote from the park president John Hildebrant "Just walked out of GateKeeper meeting . . . we should make the final track connection next week." That's a quote from his twitter account. All I can say is WOW!
  3. ^ the song name Ecuador - The Bruce Wayne Mix. The vocals were removed.
  4. They're progress on this coaster is unbelievable, even with their weather. I see IRAT at 6 Flags Fiesta in San Antonio has posted a delay on their site to Summer 2013 from late Spring 2013. I've got to hand it to the Point, they know how to build in any kind of weather. This will be a beautiful improvement to the front entrance. Just one question if that is the Gatekeeper, who is the Keymaster??? Also where is Zul??? -- Ghostbuster references...
  5. Interesting regarding the Coastermania post. I'll be there like always. I guess they're going to get the Windseekers going again. It's listed on ERT. I was wondering if any of them would ever run again...
  6. Looks like a typical winter Ohio day for Gatekeeper. That lake looks nasty. Sunday afternoon at the Point!
  7. Don't forget YOLO - Full Throttle opening at Magic Mountain. Iron Rattler is my most anticipate ride!
  8. ^^ All webcams are now live. Quite a bit of snow, but after all it's winter up there.
  9. What has happened to the Gatekeeper webcams? The times for them are stuck on 1/31/13 8:09, but the Dragster cam is current. Maybe something top secret is going on... Check the date and time...
  10. I was at "The Mountain" today for a really nice day. It's about time it quit raining out here. I recommend riding GoldRusher to get a good view of YOLO. Finally, Goldrusher was open today, but only 1 train. I'm surprised several footers were poured with the lousy weather week we just had, some progress was made since I was there last Sunday! Today wasn't busy at all (1 1/4 parking lots). I was there from open (10:20 with gold pass) to close, and got 42 rides during that period. Only Superman (because of recent rains) and Orient Express were closed. This will probably be my last trip to "The Mountain" for sometime, and I'll miss it. I'm heading back to the east coast tomorrow. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
  11. I heard from a reliable source (Amusement Today) that the park president - Melinda retired. They're getting a new manager from another 6 Flags park - Discovery Kingdom. Has anyone else heard of this, or can you confirm it?
  12. I'll need to try Mr. Alvey's suggestion. I don't even ride X2 anymore. I'm a lightweight and always end up on the outside in the middle or towards the back. I've not been near the front and on the inside. My experience on X2 hasn't been pleasant. It's one of 2 rides at the mountain that I don't do. The other one is the "Grunt Lantern." Too painful...
  13. One last thing I forgot yesterday. The Orient Express was closed all day, so you must hike to the top of Samurai Summit for Ninja and Superman. The path down or up near Goldrusher has reopened too.
  14. ^^ It's just a short abbreviation - Pocky - fewer letters to type.
  15. I was at the park today. Less than 2 parking lots of cars. Just a beautiful day and got 33 rides! Got to ride Lex with Superman moving the track. It really adds to this ride! I was at the top on Lex when Superman crested. I couldn't hear Lex speak because of the Superman noise. As Supe started up the hill I felt the up and down vibration as we waited for the drop. As Supe reversed and started down, the tower swayed. It definitely made it a lot scarier! Scream - 1 train operation. Pocky - 1 train operation. Train #2 off site. Goldrusher - still closed.
  16. Yes, from what I've been told Bonnie has been at MM for sometime now. I really think the difference is Jay is a people person and she isn't. It's as simple as that. The thing to consider is they are in the "people" business.
  17. ^^ Thanks Robb. I appreciate the change in the calendar to allow us to enjoy the new rides. As usual, count me in!
  18. I'm in total agreement with you. Jay was one of a kind! More importantly, he was and is a people person in a people business.
  19. Can someone explain to me who this Ice Queen is? "A person of some importance"? Any relation to Ice Bat? She is the president of Magic Mountain - the head honcho who took over for Jay Thomas when he moved to Dallas corporate. She was at the podium at the reopening of Superman several years ago when I was present. That podium was made of ice and was melting in the sun that morning. IMO, her personality is icy too. She rarely (if ever) speaks to guests and employees for that matter. Just the "polar opposite" of Jay. I'm really not sure if that is her in the picture. It's hard to tell. Bummer, I hope she has some good qualities? Jay Thomas is a great guy, he was the supervisor of my supervisor when I was an intern at SFOT waaaay back in 1995. The next time I saw him was at SFKK in 2007, about an hour before "the accident." He was wearing a tie by then, but hadn't lost his Texas charm (as in being truly interested in what a guest has to say). I've yet to observe any of her good qualities as a guest at the park. I've posted these comments about Jay before. He was extraordinary, always smiling and ready to talk to you. Many times he would start the conversation with you. My observations of Bonnie - aka Ice Queen, are the complete opposite. I don't even see her speaking to here employees. Rarely, will you see her at the front gate at opening. Jay was ever present there. Both myself and the park definitely miss Jay's leadership at Magic Mountain.

  21. ^^ Good picture story. I was at the park today also. It was my last visit for sometime. The ride lines were very short, but season pass lines (yes multiple) were huge! I'm glad I processed mine two weeks ago. I went up to see the construction "progress" in the Sky Tower. I was speaking with one of the ride-ops there, and she said F.T. will shut down Tatsu also at some point during construction. I really don't understand that, but she brought it up. Get ready for more shutdowns...
  22. ^^ I disagree with you on the closure of Superman. I've been to the mountain a lot the past 2 weeks. There is a lot of construction, and workers in Superman plaza. They're making the rebar in the area along side the Apocalypse lift hill. Then they've then got to move it up the hill on the walkway up to Samurai Summit just past Gold Rusher. Lot's of cranes and other machinery all over. This would be too dangerous having the GP walking around. I'll deny ever defending Magic Mountain scheduling. I must be off my medication. I do agree, they could've waited until next week when the park is only open weekends.
  23. ^ Yes, I too appreciate the projected "?" back at Riddlers. The music is also back too, but not too loud. For me that's a good thing.
