Liseberg Discussion Thread
TPDave replied to viking86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is looking great, I can't imagine they're enjoying building on a densely populated hill but the results are good!! -
I don't always do it (only if it's a fun coaster usually) but when I do it's so that you're not braced and can get thrown around a bit, makes the ride more exhilarating. So not on Vekomas then

^ Yup, I get the sense that this will only accelerate the complaints one random offended people who weren't there take up the cause! I've seen these shows before and they mock pop culture and joke around (as many have said). Take it with a pinch of salt and lighten up, there's no malice in the show! Shame it's been pulled, it was a full house last time I was at HHN. Hopefully this doesn't affect the script for next year.

What would rides be like on the moon?
TPDave replied to Thrillrider15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm now imagining a ghetto carnival on the moon with coasters and reverse bungees, I wanna go! Actually, what would a skycoater on the moon be like? I'm guessing a lot more sedate! -

Even if it is "just" a simulator, with $100m I'm sure they can turn out something pretty awesome -
Theme park Passes Thread
TPDave replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Through my teenage years I had the Tussauds/Merlin pass in all it guises but over the past couple of years I've let mine lapse as I just don't visit enough! I'm down it about one Thorpe and one Alton visit a year which even at gate price (and you can get much better deals than that!) isn't worth the pass. I think I've become jaded by travelling to different parks. If I lived near Alton I can see myself popping down for a casual afternoon but I don't think I'd do that with any other UK park. -
Texas/Midwest 2013 Tour Mini-Updates!
TPDave replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I disagree. I rode Hades a few years back and 360 this past summer, and even from a layout perspective there's nothing "fantastic" going on IMO. The horrendously rough ride was the only thing stopping the ride being forgettable. Obviously with the loop it's now got something more unique but if you take away the roughness you're left with one decent pop of airtime (which I don't even recall being there before the 360 makeover). -

^Sometimes restraints look comfy because they're masking something sinister Looks cool though, something fun to look forward to next time I visit! -

Yeah general rule of thumb is stick to the weekdays. Especially with half term you don't want to risk a Sunday. -
Has a waterslide ever scared you?
TPDave replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember I was terrified riding summit plummet as a kid. I'd probably be just as scared if I rode it tomorrow!! -

^ Yeah, I wouldn't want to be wearing glasses, who knows what they'll come up with! Looks like a really nice attraction, I'm so happy to be getting this technology in Europe! -

Great TR! Can't wait to see the rest of the parks -
Whaaaaa? So many thoughts - How desperate are they?!? This doesn't read like a company committed to guest service and customer satisfaction, it reads like a last ditch plea to get people onboard. - This is Carnival. They won't bust a gut to get you back, it'll be terribly organised and probably take as long as the rest of the cruise to get you home on a terrible airline or a greyhound bus. Dare I say it you might be better off just sitting out the cruise. - Given the experience I've had with their clientele, I don't think the uptake on this will be particularly high. The people that did the cruise I went on were there for one reason, it was cheap. People who wold be appalled by the experience would generally know this beforehand and go on a different cruise to begin with. I hate to think how horrendously low their bookings were to offer 110% moneybacks and $100 credits for future cruises.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
TPDave replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hope the GP appreciates all the additions next year! My memory of the place was i305 being OMFG awesome and the rest of the park being relatively passable as far as presentation etc. goes so it'll be really nice to see some charm and historic throwbacks to spruce the park up! Here's to hoping we see more moves like this from CF at other properties -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
TPDave replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think I've ever ridden it outside of an energised ERT session so my view might be slightly skewed! I find the ride really "fun" but not too much more. It's a great laugh and the airtime is better than what you get on B&Ms (and most Morgans!) but once you've done Plun n Play's, RMCs, mega lites and the new Intamin giga's I can't take it as a serious "airtime machine" contender. Up until 5 or 6 years ago I totally get it, but the industry is by no means standing still!! -

You make this park look OK Chuck (maybe by focussing on Thomas Town quite a bit!). At least I got the two credits that I needed, but some of the operations were so frustrating to witness! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
TPDave replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Do CF parks normally start building this early? I don't really remember from past rides but to be putting in track in August seems very early to me. Obviously this thing is huge but the timescale surprises me. -
Definitely Jr. Gemini, the only people who care about your coaster count are other coaster nerds (and very few of them at that). Make it something different, people who care what your milestone coasters are don't deserve to be listened to I try to actively piss them off if I get a choice.
