  1. Epic hotel room view! Didn't you see other rehearsals or something in the morning from there too? I'd love to stay at Mira Costa sometime
  2. Every year I've done TPR trips has been pretty awesome, but i think 2009 takes it for Scandi awesomeness!
  3. I love the reflection one a couple of pages back, really nice! Dave
  4. ^Um, Hanno, I think you'll find thats actually a photograph from the future. It's definitely true.
  5. ^ Seconded! It's a really fin little family coaster
  6. There's some quality copyright infringements here!! The park actually looks pretty clean and well kept - the theming on "not big thunder mountain" a couple of pages back looks badass!
  7. I'm just waiting for the signoff at work and then I'm in
  8. Nice pics! I especially like the thunder mountain one, that might even be desktop background worthy! Dave
  9. When I was 7 I went to Alton Towers with my family and me and my dad ran straight to Nemesis - waited for about 5 minutes and got to the station at which point I chickened out. Later in the day we went on the corkscrew and I loved it! So basically my first looping coaster was so close to being one of the best coasters in the world - but ended up being the corkscrew! Shame.
  10. Has anyone mentioned dragon mountain yet? I get the impression they started with the concept of the "worlds largest coaster" and worked backwards from there but ran out of money half way through. Fun ride, but definitely in more of a WTF?!? way.
  11. Whaaaaaaa? I only just saw this, WTFJapan?!? I'm not sure what I like more, the fact that this looks insane or that they've removed the old crappy coaster! Roll on Japan 2013!!
  12. Not breakdowns as such, but I've been "overweighted" on two space mountains (California and Tokyo). In California they did the whole "your rocket had run out if fuel" line, but in Japan the staff were really embarrassed by it! We found it hilarious, mainly because on the 12 seat train, 2 were Japanese children and 2 seats were empty! This has only strengthened my resolve to get the full set of space mountains!
  13. Pretty decent pricing too!! Split between 4 people for a week long cruise that's very impressive, hopefully the trial goes well and it gets rolled out.
  14. On the mega-lite point, I wouldn't say they are necessarily underrated. Everyone who has heard about them seems be be a huge fan, it's just relatively few coaster geeks have been on them to make a judgement.
  15. I don't know too much about watersides but is the exit coming out the side of the funnel something new? I could have sworn they normally go out the end?
  16. Wow! It always amazes me how quickly progress can be made on builds like this. I guess it's just a big Lego really!
  17. I'd say there have been some actively awesome football nights on TPR trips. Europe 2010 was really fun because a few of the games going on - I remember one year phanstasialand opened the park at night to go and watch the game in the bar, great atmosphere. And don't even get me started on Wurzburg fair!
  18. I also didn't realise quite how many different rides these companies made! I wouldn't have thought Zamperla would have more than 30 products on the market even! Or is the number referencing patent infringements (which could be multiple per ride/product)?
  19. I wonder if this will spark more lawsuits to get started/more power behind them. This is certainly the largest ruling I can remember, I can't imagine this will stop copycats but it will hopefully push them back a bit!
  20. ^ Aah, so quite close then! I almost find the logistics of how they organise projects ike this more interesting than the ride itself!
  21. I'v never heard of wisom rides before - what's their product range? It looks like tilt-a-whirls etc from the booth. I feel like a n00b
  22. Am I the only one that gets a slightly desperate vibe out of this? I don't know if there's just less publicity about the park generally so I just assume it's not a big hit but for a place with the fastest coaster in the world you' think they would be putting more substantial investments into the place. Hopefully I'm wrong (I'd love to visit someday) but it seems this place isn't as popular as intended.
  23. This is really interesting! Like the article points out they've had mixed success with "ride to film" conversions but hopefully it turns out well!
  24. ^Nice! I'm not that familiar with the ground of Cedar Point but where is the staging area where the track is delivered in relation to the construction site? I can imagine it being a bit of a challenge with the park being on a peninsula Dave
  25. I for one am very glad that their rides have catwalks - it makes it far easier for the staff to retrieve loose articles tat have fallen out during the ride
