I got multiple cheers for ya! 1)Finals are here! It's time to cheer! High spirits all around! Have no fear, for we will hear Big Mike crush Mr. Bebe into the ground!! 2)He rides coasters, he's the man, Big Mike can play football like nobody can! 3)In person, the Big Man is very nice! But when it comes to football, he'll put your team on ice! 4)Intamin, B&M, and Vekoma looping things, Big Mike has conquered them all, as the coaster king. Now Quarterbacks, Running Backs, and Defensive Line Will bow before King Big Mike's throne, for he's the ruler of all time!!

^^^^^ I highly agree with the Muse recommendation! I have all of their studio albums (Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry, Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations, and The Resistance), their live set Hullabaloo, and a two-disc set of unreleased B-Sides called Do We Need This?. I love all the different sounds they have, from the really hard rock to the dance-y to the pseudo-classical. Apparently they have an amazing live sound as well, but I have yet to experience that firsthand. I personally have a rather eclectic taste in music. I have stuff covering a huge assortment of genres, like Big Band/Swing (mostly because I swing dance), hard rock, indie rock (I highly suggest for people to check out Jump, Little Children), Europop and techno/dance music. I even have quite a variety of songs in many other languages, mainly Russian (t.A. T.u.), Swedish (Basshunter), and Moldovan (O-Zone), with some Spanish, French, and Italian thrown in as well.

Are you working during the holidays?
frozenflames replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I don't actually have a job at the moment, so I wouldn't be working anyway, BUT... the winter break at my school is crazy long!! I had my last day of exams on December 17th, and I don't have to move back into the dorms until February 7th! So I have nearly a two-month long vacation!!! -
- Favorite new coaster: Probably El Toro - Favorite new ride: DHS Tower of Terror ( I know it wasn't built this decade, but the first time I rode it was) - Favorite new park: HersheyPark - Most memorable park moment: Going to Six Flags America with a huge group of friends and being silly all day - Most memorable coaster moment: Riding the Cyclone on the Fourth of July with my dad - Best ERT session: not applicable for me - Least favorite coaster: Rolling Thunder at SFGAdv... it made me nauseous, and that's the only roller coaster to ever do that to me. - Least favorite ride: the NYC SkyRide in the Empire State Building - Least favorite park: Don't really have one - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced:Revenge of the Mummy, Universal Studios Orlando - Least interesting ride you've seen intoduced: the Disk-O - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!): Any time there's a mention of "the acceptable amount of water"/ "email Dan"-- it cracks me up - The decade's biggest flop: Hard Rock Park-- seriously, it closed in less than three months! Come on now! - The decade's biggest success: Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion - The best meal you've had at a park: Anything at Hershey/ O'Hana at the Polynesian in WDW - The worst meal you've had at a park: Can't really recall one - Best park turnaround: Haven't been to enough parks, or frequently enough, to really tell - Worst park turnaround: See above answer - What was the biggest trend of this past decade?: Theming rides after movies -What do I like best about TPR?: It gives me a place to relish in my coaster-nerdiness, and gain more exposure to the parks around the world

Going to Florida, need help finding hotel!
frozenflames replied to Boose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say to stay either directly in or around the immediate WDW area. Not only do you have the most extensive collection of accomodations, you're in a pretty centralized location, so it shouldn't really take more than 20 minutes or so to travel to any given park (barring Busch Gardens, that is). I've only stayed on property at WDW at the Port Orleans, but from what I remember (I was very very young when I stayed there), it was very pleasant. I've stayed at a number of other places, including a condo, and an Economy Suites, that were very nice, and really close to the parks. But I would definitely recommend to NOT stay at the AmeriSuites Lake Buena Vista (if it even still exists), because it was an utter dump with rude staff members. -
What kind of collection do you do?
frozenflames replied to WilliamBauset08's topic in Random, Random, Random
I have a few random collectiosn of various items. I have a collection of theme park books, and I have quite a few that are just generic, about the history of theme parks and roller coasters, and then I have a large variety of Disney-related books. I have the whole Imagineering Field Guide series to date, as well as both volumes of the Walt Disney World Trivia books, plus a few other Imagineering books, and travel guides. I love buying new Disney Travel guides, especially one called "The Irreverant Guide to Walt Disney World," (as an example of its strangeness, here's a quote directly from the first chapter: "What do Walt Disney World and VIAGRA have in common? They both require you to wait for hours for a two-minute ride!). I enjoy collecting Cirque du Soleil merchandise. I own two different shirts, two cds (Delirium and KA), the dvds of four of their productions (Varekai, La Nouba, Alegria, and Quidam), and two television series (Fire Within and Solstrom). I love monkeys, so I try to get as many monkey-related items as I can. I currently have a few pens, a puppet, a journal, a mug, a drinking glass, a few shirts, and a mechanical figuring that's wearing a flapper dress and plays "In The Mood" when its hand is pressed (which also relates to my love of swing dance). I also have a large collection of stuffed animals, which I've been collecting since shortly after my birth. I have about 30 or so, and I make it a point to buy another one every time I go to WDW. So far I have 5 from there: Figment, Nala, Tigger, Pluto, and a Disney Bear. -
Way to go Big Mike! Coming out as a a two-time champion is quite impressive!!!! He will crush you, he will beat you, he will rip you all to shreds. When you play against Big Mike, your team will end up dead! He will give no warnings, he will not answer pleas. Big Mike will bring the football world down onto its kness!

I haven't had much opportunity, but I've jumped off of small cliffs while on white-water rafting trips. I think the highest I've done so far is about 20 feet. I've also jumped off a pier at a beach in Nassau, but that one wasn't my smartest decision. It was about a fifteen foot drop into about three feet of water. I ended up cutting up my feet on the rocks from that jump, so I was lucky not to injure myself any worse.

What Did You Get For Christmas?!
frozenflames replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I don't celebrate Christmas, but I got some nice Hanukkah presents, as follows: -A tropical calendar (seeing plam trees makes me happy) -A sweater -A set of fleece pajamas -A pair of multi-colored fuzzy slippers -Apples to Apples (such a fun game!) -Season 4 of Bones on DVD -The Disney Mountains: Imagineering at its Peak book So I was pretty happy! -
Thanks so much for the free DVD! I watched it Saturday night, and enjoyed the whole thing! I was realy happy to see the Universal Studios/ Islands of Adventure segment, because it was that video that led me to discover and join TPR in the first place. Plus all the background music in your videos has helped me to greatly increase my musical exposure, and I have purchased so many songs because of your videos. So a great amount of thanks is heartily given!!

Let's see, what have I done: -I made a newsletter about theme parks with a wide variety of statistics for a class project. -I made a thirty-slide Powerpoint presentation about Walt Disney World, along with a handmade travel brochure. -I researched hundreds of tips for successful WDW vacations and compiled them into a multi-page booklet for my parents to use. -I by theme park travel guides and read them for fun. -I have numerous books on Imagineering. -I wrote a research paper on how Audio-Animatronics help provide a means of telling a story in an attraction. -I recited off facts about various parks and rollercoasters while visiting those parks with non-enthusiast friends. -I sit down and watch any theme park special on the Travel Channel, even if I've seen them all many times.

Here's a cheer in Hebrew for you, Big Mike! (Or at least transliteration) Hu mehsahek khaduregel amerikai, Hu gadol meod. Hu kotev nesiyah shmuaot. Anachnu lirot hu zakha. Anachnu khitzinim tzahokim, Anachnu khoggim et ha sportim. B'hatzlecha Maik Gadol!!! Or in other words: He plays football, he's very tall. He writes trip reports. We see him win. We show him grins. We celebrate the sports! Good luck, Big Mike!!!

My main question is, what will happen to the rides already there? I can see on the blueprints that Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, the Mad Tea Party, and the Carrousel are still going to be there, but what about other attractions like Peter Pan's Flight, Mickey's PhilharMagic, or even It's A Small World? None of those seem to be represented on that blueprint...
