  1. Oh wow, I remember playing this course in 1999. And it's even more confusing trying to keep track of the holes when it's dark out. Also, I'm deeply saddened by the fact that there is now a CiCi's Pizza there. There used to be a steakhouse that had really good Prime Rib instead. But thanks for bringing back some great memories for me!
  2. Haha, one of my friends at school was treated to the exact same thing. 1000 balloons in a dorm room. It was really funny, especially because my friends used a wire contraption to unlock the deadbolt from the outside, and several of the balloons were inflated underneath the door. But either way, seeing so many balloons in such a small place is pretty hilarious.
  3. ^ I ate at the Rips in Waldorf when I lived there, but we always had horrible service and after finding a live centipede in one of our dishes, my family and I never went back. This thread is definitely enjoyable. Seeing all the barbeque and pizza places makes me want to drool. I'm from a family that loves to sit around and watch the Food Network, so it's very entertaining to see lots of food. If you're ever in the Philadelphia area, check out Charlie's Pizza on the Roosevelt Boulevard. It's a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but the pizza there is incredible (especially the spinach and fresh garlic).
  4. "Chai" by Ofra Haza. It's a Hebrew song from the 80s, but I'm singing it in my a capella group, so I need to learn the lyrics. Plus it's kind of catchy.
  5. Oh Disney and your shameless marketing/plugging... Anyway, I think it's an interesting tie-in for the film franchise (really excited to see Pirates 4, even though 2 and 3 weren't so great), but I'm curious as to how long such things are really going to be relevant, in the long term.
  6. What exactly was on that hot dog? It looked somewhat decent. Anyway, Interesting find. I'm going to Universal over the summer, so maybe I'll have to check that place out.
  7. Oh, 1,000,000 posts?!? EXCITING!!! This site is awesome, and I'm proud to have been part of it for the past however-many years! GO TPR!!!
  8. Wow, that coaster looks amazing. Not at all what I was expecting to see, given it's compact size. And that was a great job documenting it, too. Now I really want to go travel to ride these things. Also, I counted four coasters in that one picture.
  9. I'm actually not so sure that this will just be the SBNO slides re-opening. Yes there are four of them, and there are four mentioned in that article, but the ones that are already there are tube slides, while the new ones are supposed to be body slides. Don't they use different widths of the slide channels? I can't imagine going down a slide meant for a tube on one's bare butt can be very comfortable.
  10. I've seen Varekai and Alegria live, plus I own those two on dvd, as well as Quidam, La Nouba, and Kooza. I've seen televised performances of Nouvelle Experience, Cirque Reinvente, Saltimbanco, Dralion, and Corteo. I also have the soundtracks to Ka and Delerium, as well as the dvd sets of the two Cirque television shows that aired several years ago on Bravo, Fire Within, which was a behind-the-scenes documentary of the making of Varekai, and a variety series called Solstrom. I would love to go to Vegas, just to see the Cirque shows there. I'm particularly interested in seeing O, as it looks like such a unique show.
  11. Very nice and detail TR! You had some really great pictures that made me miss Orlando a lot. Looks like you got a lot done in a fairly short timespan.
  12. I don't celebrate Christmas, but I got a pretty good haul from Hanukkah this year. I ended up getting from my friends and family: -lots of chocolate -a cup with Belle on it (my favorite Disney Princess) -three pairs of fuzzy socks -a little stuffed penguin -two iTunes giftcards ($10 and $25) -Barnes and Noble giftcard ($25) -a tropical island calendar -a butterfly necklace -earrings -two sweaters -KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil dvd -Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs dvd -Toy Story 3 dvd -Glee season 1 dvd -Bones season 5 dvd -$100 cash All in all, a very good assortment of things I like, and nothing to be disappointed in. .
  13. So mine isn't incredibly accurate, because I recently had to re-install iTunes, so I lost all my playcounts, but this is what's currently listed: -Headlight Disco, The Click Five -Anymore, Emmy Rossum -Broken, Jump, Little Children -Because of You, Jump, Little Children -Lovegame, Lady Gaga -Paparazzi, Lady Gaga -Boys Boys Boys, Lady Gaga -Feeling Good, Michael Buble -Citizen Erased, Muse -Bye Bye Beautiful, Nightwish
  14. A month late... but oh well. halloween1.bmp I was a Flapper for the Halloween Dance that I went to... halloween2.bmp and Lady Gaga for the party I was at!
  15. I personally think the MEGAtubes look pointless. It's so much wasted space, for a ride experience that looks pretty generic. Plus, in the video for the "rattler" model, the fact that they show the tubes actually flopping over the side edge of the flume does not make me want to ride it. Seeing that actually makes me want to avoid it at all costs, because if a raft can do that in real life, who's to say that there won't be a person sitting right there who could easily fall out if they lean the wrong way?
  16. There's actually a lot I would change about myself. I've never been happy about the way my nose is, because it's kind of bumpy and crooked. I would want to make it straight and smaller. I'm also annoyed with my stomach, because no matter how much I exercise or whatnot, I still constantly have a pooch. I want to actually have abs. And I would also like to be a little larger in the chest area, as awkward as that sounds. I would maybe want to change my teeth, because they're not that white (even though I don't really drink anything that would discolor them), and they're weirdly shaped. I have some teeth that have more exposure from the gums than others, and the bottom edge of my top teeth are kind of rough and cut my lips on occaision. However, I can't afford, nor do I want, surgery, so I'm just dealing with things as they are.
  17. I'm really liking all the photos! Every time I've been to Orlando, I've always kind of wanted to go to WonderWorks, just to see what it was like. Now that I've seen the pictures, I no longer feel any desire to go there. So thanks for saving me $25. But anyway, I really enjoy seeing all the details that you capture in your pictures! It's definitely entertaining to read.
  18. I'm an English Major with a concentration in Film at the University of Delaware.
  19. A lot of spinny rides like Teacups or Tilt-A-Whirls get me very nauseous now, which stinks because I used to love those. I've gotten slightly dizzy and such on a few simulators, but that was probably due to the screen being blurry or the motion being out of sync. I have gotten headaches from a few coasters, like Anaconda at KD or Wildcat at Hershey, but that was more because of the overall roughness of those rides. The only time I've ever gotten legitimately sick and vomited at a theme park was due to a combination of extreme heat, dehydration, and a mild stomach bug that decided to manifest itself while in line for a ride. There are a lot of times that I'll see a pile of puke on the ground at a park, and that makes me almost get sick, but so far that hasn't happened. And as far as remedies go, I agree with the other who say to use Dramamine. The non/less drowsy formula works quite well. Also, myabe try taking Sudafed before going to a park to makw sure your sinuses are clear. Being able to breathe clearly can do wonders when you're nauseated.
  20. Like many have said, I would suggest Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Disney parks. It's not too fast, and because most of the track is hidden by rockwork, you can't really tell how high you are, so you don't get too freaked out. Plus it exposes kids to darkness and (somewhat) loud noises at the same time, so that could help alleviate a few fears. As far is bigger rides go, it really depends. Mine was Thunderhawk at Dorney Park, and I was three or four at the time. And the weird thing is, I remember riding it BEFORE going on the kiddie coaster Little Laser there, and enjoying it more.
  21. For me, it's been: Kings Dominion in May Six Flags America in June Hersheypark in July Possibility of Busch Gardens Euroburg/Water Country USA over Labor Day, but I'm not sure yet.
  22. I've actually been to Glen Echo a few times, for some dances that they hold there. It's really cool seeing it at night, because all of the neon lights are working, and they do still have a working carrousel that they run on occaision. It's a nice place to walk around, and it's very interesting to see how they've maintained the classic look of the place.
  23. I have yet to see a movie this summer (but I will be seeing Toy Story 3 tomorrow, I believe) in theaters, but a few days ago I was introduced to a movie on dvd that I loved: Repo! The Genetic Opera. It's a rock opera telling the story of a city under an epidemic of organ failures and the company that saves the people's lives, but with a deadly cost, because if someone falls behind on their payments, a Repo Man will come and repossess the organs. It's very dark and grisly, but very entertaining. The filming style reminded me of a mashup between Watchmen, The Phantom of the Opera, and Friday the 13th. Also, some of the scenery reminded me of the Haunted Mansion in the Disney parks. Repo is sort of like Rocky Horror in that it's developing a cult following, complete with "shadow casts" acting out the movie while it's being projected behind them. It was also directed by one of the directors of the Saw series, who directed installments II and IV, I believe. For anyone who likes rock music and moderate amounts of gore, I would definitely suggest watching it.
  24. Pretty much all of my friends know about my love for theme parks/ coasters/ Disney. Some of them think it's a little pathetic that I get so excited by it, but all of them understand that yes, it may be dorky, but it's a huge part of what makes me who I am. Plus there have been several instances when I'm in a park with my friends and they ask me about something park-related, because they know I can usually answer them. So I'm proud that I'm a coaster dork, and nobody can take that away from me.
  25. I was at SFA on Saturday, and with the exception of Batwing, which had a one train operation, my friends and I never encountered more than a five-minute wait for anything. I was actually very surprised, considering it was the opening for Thomas Town that day, but the park really didn't seem that crowded. Many of the coasters were constantly running half-empty on every train. To sum up my visit, Pros: -The water park looked like it had been freshly painted -The lifeguards were all friendly, much more so than they had been in the past -The ride ops were trying to be much faster and efficient for load times -Most of the rides had minimal waits -There were ads for various products, but luckily they were just random signs, as opposed to the awful train wraps in other parks. Cons: -Very few of the water fountains were working. In fact, the only ones I saw working were in the water park. I thought this was kind of ridiculous, as it's not even officially summer, and it was crazy hot. Doesn't the park realize that people need to stay hydrated so they don't get sick? -Batwing running only one train, and then for a majority of the cycles, it wasn't being filled to capacity. -I had my worst ride ever on Roar. Normally i love this ride, no matter where I sit, but this time, everyone in my group of five people said that it was the most painful coaster we'd ever been on. We all thought Mind Eraser was smoother, and that's saying something. Roar was so bad that I now have a large bruise on my back from being jostled around so much Overall the day was pretty good, and the park looked and felt much cleaner than it had in years. My friends and I all enjoyed ourselves.
