Some great pictures there! AFter seeing the Statue of Liberty ones, though, there is absolutely no way I would ever go up there. Those steps would litterally induce a panic attack in me. As for Six Flags Great Adventure, since I will be there next Saturday, and chance, if I actually manage to find you, you would mind helping me navigate? Out of the group of friends I'm going with, all of us have either a) not been there recently, or b) never been there at all. Plus we will have a limited amount of time in the park (I believe we will arrive there around noon or so, and then our bus leaves back for school at 7:00 pm), so we (myself, and three of my friends- who ALSO swing dance!) would like to get on as many rides as possible. And to round things off, here's another cheer for the big man! His shirt is gold, he is so bold. He'll crush the other teams! Big Mike's the man, he has the plan. He'll make ya wanna scream!

Great TR! I really like the pics of the fireworks, they're so clear and colorful! Basically, your TR just made me want to go to Sea World Orlando really badly. -
SFGadv Question
frozenflames replied to frozenflames's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After careful consideration, I decided that I will go in the trip with my school. After all, the ticket was only $30, and that includes both the park admission AND transportation in a snazzy coach bus! Hopefully, with the ACE event there like Big Mike mentioned, the lines won't be too crazy and I'll actually get on a decent amount of rides. I also hope the lines won't be too long, as I only will have a limited time in the park itself. Thanks to everyone for the advice! -
My college (University Of Delaware- go Blue Hens!) is having a day trip to Six Flags Great Adventure, and I'm trying to decide whether I should go or not. The main thing I'm worried about, as I have never been to this park before (at least as far as I can remember), is what the crowds will be like. The trip is set for September 26, which even though it is a Saturday, it is also the evening before Yom Kippur, so I have no idea what to expect. If I go, I will NOT be purchasing a FlashPass/Q-Bot, as I am a college student, and therefore basically broke. Can anyone provide with some information? This way, I can decide if I will go on the trip or not. I need to know as soon as possible, as registration begins tomorrow, and the trips that are offered tend to fill up quickly.

As the resident Show Stopper Swing Dancer, I have to say that I'm "In the Mood" to "Jump, Jive and Wail" and "Sing, Sing, Sing" in support of the Big Man!! When he dominates some Fantasy Football, we're all gonna be "Jumping at the Woodside," and "Stompin' At the Savoy" in celebration!! Because we all know, "T'Aint What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It)"! P.S. (which means post scriptum or 'after-writing' in Latin... Bet you didn't know that one!!) All the quotes are actually names of classic swing and big-band songs, from artists such as Benny Goodman, Louis Prima, and Count Basie. Just thought I would throw out a little bit of creativity to cheer on Big Mike!!

SFA Questions.

I went to the park on a Saturday last month, and had very few actual lines. Probably the longest was about twenty minutes, for Mind Eraser. The staff has definitely improved, as they were all friendly, and actually cared about performing their duties. I was at the park all day and didn't see a single person in charge of a ride goofing off on a cell phone. I would definitely recommend hitting up the water park first, and then going to ride the coasters. By doing that, you will basically ensure yourself to ride everything there is in a timely manner, and you will also take up time waiting for Batwing to open, as it tends to open the latest out of all the coasters in the park. As long as you get to the park around opening, you shouldn't have a problem with lines. -
After looking at your pics of the hotdog contest, and your view of the Jumbo-tron, I think we were standing maybe a hundred feet apart. I was about that distance away, but off to the right side of the screen. And after closely examinging the rest of the pictures, I didn't happen to see myself in any of them. Oh well.

Hey Big Mike! Sorry I didn't get to see you at Coney Island, there were just way too many people for me to look around. But I did see the contest as well (I was standing with my parents about a hundred feet away from the Jumbo-Tron that they had to the right of Nathan's, maybe twenty feet or so from the intersection of Surf and Stillwell, towards the subway station ). I also hit up the beach for a few hours before taking my first ride on the Cyclone. It would have been cool to meet you!

Nice SFA TR! I'm going there in a few weeks with a bunch of friends from college, so it's nice to see that the park looks to be doing alright. As for Skull Mountain, it did actually run backwards for a while. If my memory serves me correctly, the boats used to get turned around right before the bunny hop drop, and then would float backwards through a tunnel before hitting the second turntable. But anyway, I'm really enjoying this thread! Nice pictures, witty captions, everything is just fun to read! -
As a new owner of a recently-rescued dog (she had been in a puppy mill, the poor thing), I can only say that this is great. Dogs should never be put through awful conditions, and helping to give a mistreated animal a second chance at having a good life is one of the best things anyone could ever do.

No, the other two slides on Runoff Rapids are reserved for double tubes only. My advice is to grab a friend, do the double tube slides, and then shlep back up the steps and do the single tube, or vice versa. But both slides are quite fun.

PTR: A weekend in Orlando with a new camera

That picture of the Chinese Theater is awesome!!! Great TR, overall. -
I was in WDW for Mother's Day in 1993, but since I was really young (just shy of my fourth birthday) I don't remember what the crowds were like. I have also been to Universal Orlando and Wet'n'Wild over Passover/Easter of 2004. There were definite crowds there, but on the whole, I managed to ride (except for Spiderman) everything with under a half-hour wait, and some things with less than 10 minutes' worth of waiting!

I've seen a variety of musicals, both on Broadway, and through various high schools and community/ college theater programs. Stage Shows I've Liked: -Phantom of the Opera -Wicked -RENT (but the woman who played Mimi was far too sarcastic, and had a very deep, harsh-sounding voice) -Avenue Q -Beauty and the Beast -The Lion King -Spamalot -Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (my college did a production of it last April, and it was quite honestly the best student show I have EVER seen. The cast, especially the people who played Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett, were fantastic.) -Seussical the Musical Shows That I Don't Like: -Brigadoon (i've seen three different productions of this, and while some of the productions themselves were good, like at my high school, the show itself leaves something to be desired. The plot is unrealistic, and boring.) -The Who's TOMMY -Grease Shows I've Been In: -Annie -Little Shop of Horrors -Footloose -Sound of Music

Wow there are so many shows I grew up watching that aren't on anymore... -Saved by the Bell -Legends of the Hidden Temple -Dinosaurs -Eureka's Castle -Gilligan's Island -Hang Time -Animaniacs -Land of the Lost -Double Dare -Salute Your Shorts -Hey Dude! -Reboot -Anything Looney Tunes -Family Matters -Step by Step -Jim Henson's The Storyteller -Sabrina the Teenage Witch and so many more!

Funland looks really cute! Hopefully I will be going there next week with a bunch of friends from college, and since I've never been to the beach in Delaware, I at least know what to expect. Plus, any place that has a Paratrooper is cool with me! Also, I enjoyed seeing all the pics of the beaches, as I'm kind of a beach freak. -

^^ I did that exact same thing three years ago in my high school. (Actually, I pretty much single-handedly organized that event). But the whole silence thing makes a great message, even if it is really hard to not talk for a whole day.
