Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Riddler, I just said that if they build an intamin woodie I'd want one more along the SIZE of Balder instead of the SIZE of El Toro. I guess it comes mainly from living next door to the giant junkpile that is Son of Beast, but I think too many parks are worried about the size of their new rides as opposed to the quality. I'm not knocking either of these (ET or Balder) as I have been on neither one, I'm only saying size wise. -James Dillaman -

^I don't understand how it can't go back to the old trains. I'm sure for a price they could be bought somewhere. would there really be clearence issues? How much did SFMW change Thriller? -James "Never rode it out there" Dillaman -

OMG, for like a whole minute I looked at the picture thinking he meant the cars were under the tarp.... I completely missed the dumpster. Man, I need to get outside, I think being home with no job just reading this thread all day has made me a tad delirious. -James Dillaman -
Accident on Drop Zone freefall tower
jamesdillaman replied to ECZenith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The question is will all the ARM freefall towers be closed until further notice, or if they think it was set up wrong at the fair, or what? -James Dillaman -

Is this a coaster?
jamesdillaman replied to philcoaster83's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's a coaster if you want to count it as a coaster. Whatever criteria you want to use is up to you when doing your own coaster count. Personally I don't count them, but you can if you want to, there's no law against it -James Dillaman -
Which political party do you belong to?

I think the water rides actually make a bigger difference in the GP's perception. Having family near Michigan's Adventure, many locals buy season passes just to hang out in the waterpark. Add in tube rental, sunscreen sales, and others and a waterpark is a good addition to any park. It also can keep people in the park longer, because when people get too hot in the rides park, they can go to the waterpark to keep cool during the hotter part of the day. -James Dillaman -

You forgot to mention all the flights cut from CVG over the past year, dropping 33% of their flights, and they have lost planes, but they managed it by liquidating Song and utilizing their 757's to make up some routes for planes they have lost. The 5 new 777's were ordered before they were in bankruptcy if I remember correctly. AND they just laid me off, so they're not doing really well... ATL didn't get hurt much, but here in CVG (Used to be 2nd largest hub for Delta) we really got hit hard. -James "Just so you know" Dillaman -

I rode this at Astroworld, and let me say I really enjoyed this ride. If you are serious about putting it up at your park, you can count on Derek booking a trip out there, as he stated, but you can also count on me dragging my friends out there to visit your park. I love this ride and you should put the origional restraints on it, if at all possible. -James "Why hasn't Joe posted on this thread yet?" Dillaman -
^^^ People did say that, I remember people saying that wooden coasters were outdated and steel were the coasters of the future. Look at what we have now, everything will even out. A large part of theme park appeal is nostalgia, and everybody likes the coasters that they used to ride with grandpa when they were children, so they want to ride them with their own kids and so on... I don't think you have to worry about the lift hill ever going away. -James Dillaman

I don't think it would be a big deal. Their rockets have either lap bars or OTSR without much modification that I can see to the trains, so why not the aquatrax cars? -James Dillaman -
