Is this a dig at Son of Beast?
jamesdillaman replied to jamesdillaman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I only say that because the structure of SoB was found to be flawed, and that caused the incident that closed it a while back. And it only has one loop. I was just wondering if this was tied in to a story he did on the show, and if so, what was it about? -James Dillaman -
Beauty and the Coaster...
jamesdillaman replied to Adriel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always like driving into Michigan Adventure as you travel past the insanely long structure of Shivering Timbers, which can seem to shine in the early morning sun. Nothing like when that first train tests as you wait for the gates to open. That is definitely a beautiful coaster. -James Dillaman -

They already will have at least 4 records with this ride, so to those saying an aquatrax wouldn't break any records see this: Most coasters in one park (tie) Most Intamin coasters in one park First aquatrax in the western world Most red-tracked coasters in one park. There are some more I could probably think of with more time, but the records don't have to be cool to be records, and the ride doesn't have to be massive like MF to be a "record-breaker" which Cedar Point can already say this will be, even if it isn't an aquatrax. -James Dillaman -

Anyone who lives off of Lake Erie will tell you the reason they're starting early is WINTER. Winter in Sandusky, as any local Cedar Point fanboy will tell you, can be brutal. There's no telling how much construction is left. They even have work to do after the track is all laid. There's LIM's as we've guessed, there's station, block sensor installation and testing, queue line building, the literally thousands of trashcans that need to be placed around this ride by Cedar Fair, not to mention water filtration systems and filling in lakes if there are any used in the attraction. -James Dillaman -

Is It Really Worth It?
jamesdillaman replied to Adriel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Being launched at that rate and speed is the entire rush for me. TTD and KK are worth it once, and beyond that I wouldn't wait more than a half hour or so. First time ride you must wait for the front seat, especially if you waited more than an hour for the ride already, you might as well wait for the best seat on the ride. I still enjoy TTD everytime I go to CP. I try to get my 1 ride on it. If you haven't been on it, you might think it's crazy to wait for something like this, but trust me, it is a rush your first ride. -James Dillaman -

TN Tornado is easily one of my top arrow loopers. It is definitely the smoothest I've been on, and the shortest. My favorite part is actually the first drop into the HUGE loop. I know it's not big by B&M standards, but for arrow... Wow. Enjoy your visit to my favortie theme park! -James "Will be looking for your trip report" Dillaman -

That's cool. The only complaint I'd heard about the topple tower was that it went so slow it was kind of a dissapointment. One of the rides that looks better than it is. Hopefully I can get down there next year to ride the TWO latest rides for dollywood. Can't wait for Mystery Mine. Knowing this park, it's gonna blow me away. -James Dillaman -

Best Six Flags Park

I've been doing some serious thought, and I think SFFT is the best overall six flags, but if you go on just rides, it'd probably have to go to SFGAdv. -James Dillaman -

Do you guys really think a wingwalker would have sufficient clearance through all the sections? I thought wingwalker was ruled out by clearance issues a couple weeks ago. I could be wrong, just wondering. James "Who'd be happy with a wingwalker" Dillaman -

I just want to post for postings sake, and say that I enjoy reading everyone's musings. Wes, (In comic book guy's voice from simpsons): "Best... ban.... ever!" I was wondering when that was going to happen. [/off topic] Back on track, then: I wasn't that excited about this coaster awhile ago, but seeing it going up, it actually looks pretty decent. I don't care if it turns out to be an aquatrax ( ) I'm hoping for some themeing, tho. Cedar Fair isn't really known for their theming (see disaster transport) but it would be nice to see. That's my 2 cents. -James Dillaman -

Read my post, I said clear up the RUMOR that it's NOT an aquatrax. Because it looks like it definitely is. -

^ That post actually made sense, and the pictures do match up kindof. I think whatever it is it will be launched at some point during the ride, maybe even the entire ride (I mean, no lift hill at all) or it could be a lift hill using LIM's. Whatever it is, as it was stated, once the trains arrive we can clear up the rumor that it isn't an aquatrax. -James Dillaman
