Kinga ka or top thrill dragster
jamesdillaman replied to Cressie2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I voted for TTD, and I'll tell you why: 1. It was the first over 400 feet, and Kingda Ka was just a later copy of it a little taller and with a hill added: LAME come up with your own ride Six Flags. 2. The theme for top thrill dragster is great. A dragster launching 0-120, i like that concept it makes sense. I don't see what Africa has to do with launching coasters. 3. TTD isn't in a six flags park, so it's easier for me to stand going there to ride it. Not to displease all the six flags fanboys but I like cedar point's operations better. 4. There's nothing like looking down on MF from the tophat on TTD. You really get a sense of how high you are. The view of the bay and lake erie beats the pants off of any view in Jersey. ^^ You DON'T get airtime on Magnum??? Next time try riding the ride while it's in motion, see if that helps, I mean c'mon! The bunny hops back to the station? Sit in the front car, third seat. The airtime will make you go crying for you mother it's so good. Don't get airtime on Magnum. I'm sorry to be harsh, but that's the craziest thing I've ever heard... -James Dillaman -

Just don't get this thread locked, We're getting into the point of construction (finally) where updates are very telling, so I expect the announcement will be made soon, because as they put track up, it'll soon be clear to everyone. Until then, I have no problem with people dreaming of 11 inversions 500 foot whatever... Just be cordial about it, we're all in the same "boat", and no matter what they build, we'll all ride it on the hot days next summer at cedar point so let's try and keep our "cool" -James Dillaman -

MF's was the best ever. Besides, who doesn't remember the OMFG factor when we all heard about it. I couldn't believe it until I saw it. -James Dillaman -

Distance?
jamesdillaman replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd travel to Mars if they had the best coaster ever built there. What's 3 months on a spaceship when you have the greatest coaster ever waiting for you when you arrive! Seriously, the farthest I've gone JUST to ride a coaster would be Cincinnati to LA for Tatsu. The farthest drive would be only to Dollywood from Cincinnati for Thunderhead, then drove back the same day. 12 hours of driving (6 there, 6 back) for one of the best woodies out there. -James Dillaman -

To answer Robb: As long as TTD and MF are running whenever I get back to Cedar Point, I could care less. Whatever it is it'll be fun, I'm guessing. Also, from the sheer amount of track, it won't be a short ride dissapointment like their last 2 coasters (TTD and WT) have been. I like the rides, don't get me wrong, but after waiting in line for TTD you wish they could like send it around one more time, don't you? -James Dillaman -

You all say that he's insane to bet that it's an aquatrax, but I see nobody has taken up his offer to bet one million dollars, so deep down, you aren't commited. A nice long aquatrax would do cedar point very good, and again the water ride removal means the use of water will be important and much needed, also. Lastly, who says an aquatrax has to have a building? I don't know where you get this idea. That's like saying because the Beast goes underground, every wooden coaster must go underground... Seriously, don't be silly. -James "not a fanboy, just looking at the info" Dillaman -
^ I agree on the Skyline Chili, the 3-way is great, and nothing like a cincy clili footlong cheese coney between rides on the beast. However, LaRosas has a big problem with being extremely greasy (dripping off the piece), the crust is very bland and has almost no rise or crunch (You don't know if it's a failed attempt at hand tossed pizza or a failed attempt at thin crust), and the cheese and toppings tend to slide off in a big piece after one bite. For best overall (non Epcot, of course) park food, I'd have to give it up to DOLLYWOOD, for not only the quality, but the quantity of options, too. As many have said, walking through the park will make you wonder where to eat, because you feel bad about missing anything. Kennywood's Fries are wonderful, and the Taco at Indiana Beach, although I usually get the walking taco, is also good eats (my favorite food network show, incidentally ) Elephant Ears is hands down Cedar Point, and the CF chain has the best deal on Cotton Candy, being 25 cents! As for Six Flags, Six Flags Magic Mountain is the only park I'VE been to that offers Sushi!! That's different. -James Dillaman

^ They can sit comfortably behind Disney and Cedar Fair as the number 3 in the U.S. and that'd be fine by me. -

Say it with me: Indoor Waterpark Resort j/k Seriously I doubt it will go away. The city and people of Denver want to keep it an amusement park and they will put pressure on whoever buys it to keep it that way, IMO. -James Dillaman -

^^ They could even shape the cars like wagons or anything. Besides, the "theme" you talk about isn't even a factor usually with cedar point. I mean, look how well skyhawk fits into the western themed area.... They don't care. Also, aren't the pumps still there, or am I mistaken? Just because there isn't any water on site now doesn't mean there won't be some added later. Water isn't easy to add, and is usually added after the construction is finished. See for example: Mantis. -James Dillaman -
^ Actually, I had a sit down talk with a friend of the owner, and Jim doesn't want to completely tear it down, he wants to turn it into an RV park. A couple rides are to be spared and reopened eventually. The lake was drained as they are working on redoing the park to reconfigure it as a stay-overnight sort of thing. The Log Flume, Coaster, and Carousel are supposedly going to stay. -James Dillaman
