  1. I'm happy to see how cheap it is. For that price even I might get one, as I could make the 4 and a half hour drive a few times a year and get my money's worth. The food's almost worth it alone! (I need my yearly fried oreo fix!) -James Dillaman
  2. Glad you finally got out there! The kids look like they had even more fun than you did, Guy! -James Dillaman
  3. So I hear Kennywood has season passes, now... -James Dillaman
  4. The now gone Scooby Ghoster Coaster at KI was always hard on the "area" for me. -James Dillaman
  5. I'm gonna call this one dead in the water before it gets built. I just don't see it, plus all the locals are against it, and even the local government. It just doesn't seem like that good of an idea, and it's not going to happen. -James Dillaman
  6. Quoted for truth! -James Dillaman
  7. ^It would seem doubtful they would replace it with another seasonal attraction, but you never know... I guess a lot depends on the insurance payout... -James Dillaman
  8. I'd say you should just hit Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Stay at a Red Roof Inn, as there's no better luxury hotel chain out there, and call it a trip there. The rest of the parks aren't really worth it. -James Dillaman
  9. Man, at first I thought Disney was building a park in Rome, but alas... I don't know if this will do well or not, as tourists already have so much to see in Rome that going to a theme park will probably not be high on the agenda. -James Dillaman
  10. ^^^ I understand it's close to medium-sized cities, but not nearly as close as Kennywood is to Pittsburgh. That was my only point, that growth of a small park was possible. I understand a lot depends on the proposed expressway, but if they play their cards right they can expand if they wish. Plus there are areas of the park that can be reworked to fit more rides in, much like Cedar Point, where nobody ever thinks they have room for a new coaster, yet one is built every few years or so. I just think that this is pretty good news, as parks that embrace history without evolving tend to only be discussed by the older members on this site, as they're long gone, and I don't want Kennywood to be a memory I tell my kids about someday. -James Dillaman
  11. First of all, I liked Ghostwood Estates. Everything you shot moved. Very nicely done. Even my dad who hates most dark rides had fun riding it. Secondly, Longer lines and more people translate into more money and more rides being built. It's simple economics. Supply and demand. Look at how rapidly Holiday World expanded, and they're not even near a big city like Pittsburgh. -James Dillaman
  12. ^The picture is pretty scary, though... -James Dillaman
  13. ^You better buy a magnet on the way out, Chuck!!! j/k, I already have ones from Dollywood. Glad to see you had a great time. -James Dillaman
  14. ^ Depending on how fast the launch is, it could be even more... That's not even mentioning the fact that the ride on a sunny day is COMPLETELY different than when it's raining... -James Dillaman
  15. ^ To be fair, Dollywood is on the verge of being a larger park, now... Not only in amount of guests, but in terms of rides being added and general park improvements. I think once they connected the back of the park into a giant circle, they've moved up to medium-park status. Great pictures, Natalie! Looks like you had some nice weather for the trip, nothing like Cedar Point on the midwest trip, was it? -James Dillaman
  16. ^ Which translates into more money, hopefully... And better park improvements in the future. -James Dillaman
  17. boo... on the plus side this should increase locals frequency in going to the park and spending money on food and drink, where the park can make a killing with higher margins... -James Dillaman
  18. My favorite thing at MiA is the back wavepools, the so-called "extreme" wavepools. Some of the craziest that I've been in! Good pictures, good to see Shivering Timbers getting some love. For such a good ride, it doesn't get mentioned just because it's so out of the way for most people to get out there to ride it. -James Dillaman
  19. ^ I might try and head out there tonight after 5. I'm not sure yet. -James Dillaman
  20. ^ thrash cans. That would be awesome!
  21. I declare shenanigans. This just screams sensationalism in news reporting. If it was truly a "riot" it wouldn't be this long before anyone heard about it. -James Dillaman
  22. Maybe it's free puppies for non-riders. Everyone loves puppies. -James Dillaman
  23. Funny, I don't remember getting high today, but this idea still seems ridiculous... I'd go if they put a zipline down from the top... -James Dillaman
  24. Some nice shots of the area, JZ. You've really improved your picture taking since joining the site. -James Dillaman
  25. The only way I could see this being a tourist trap is if they charged per ride, or the rides were not very good. But with a quality park beyond the front gate price, you can totally get your money's worth by riding the rides and going to a few shows. -James Dillaman
