  1. ^KI is about 4 hours from CP, depending on traffic and how fast you like to drive... It's doable, though. -James Dillaman
  2. ^^ In my opinion, splitting up the park and the campground is a bad idea, isn't the campground already profitable? It sounds like the new owners want the campground but don't want the hassle of running the amusement park... -James Dillaman
  3. 11/20, although I knew one and hit the wrong answer, so really 12/20... Still failing...haha -James Dillaman
  4. Well now six flags has a murder investigation on their hands... more than likely at least. -James Dillaman
  5. Seriously, it couldn't be a worker, they'd be noticed missing, wouldn't they? -James
  6. JZ, all I can say is, less time spent on the lift hill is better for capacity, so I'm all for a quick, steep lift, and it appears that's what is being built, so bravo! -James Dillaman
  7. I know for a fact the ones on Vortex are default to open, as was said, and they have individual compressed air tanks that close them in the event of a power outage. Sometimes we would have to close the ride down if the air pressure in the tanks got too low, a "Brakes low air" alarm would go off in the driver's booth. This is because if there is no compressed air, the brakes would not work, so obviously if the air starts getting low, it's an e-stop situation, where we use the remaining air to stop the trains, and wait for maintenece to fix the problem... -James Dillaman
  8. the sloped brake run is necessary due to the upward climb into it. If you want to know why, look at Son of Beast. The first time they e-stopped the ride, the train was abruptly stopped in the brake run, and as soon as the brakes released, the train went backwards and valleyed... This is why if there's no space after climbing a hill, you need more of the train going downhill rather than up in the event of an e-stop, or it will valley every time a train gets e-stopped there. -James Dillaman
  9. ^^ Yeah... like I said, political move, just to get leverage... No need to freak out, everybody. -James Dillaman
  10. the video was really jerky for me, but it might have something to do with it being windows media, and I'm viewing it on my mac... -James Dillaman
  11. ^ Is this a real member or just spam? Why should I read this book?
  12. ^ Well it IS just a rendering after all. I'm sure it's a pretty accurate representation of the ride, colors in the rendering aren't a huge deal, especially support colors and where exactly they change, although that is interesting... -James Dillaman
  13. Yup! I'll be up after work tomorrow. Thanks, I knew you wouldn't let me down -James
  14. JZ, can you go to the park this weekend and get some better pictures of that crane from the Eifel Tower, or are you too busy? I'd love to see more than just the boom...
  15. This seems to be all politics. Like when a school levy doesn't pass and they cut bus service... Shutting down is a ploy to try and get the upper hand in the negotiations process. I won't jump to any conclusions until all the rides are sold... -James Dillaman
  16. Obama, and anyone who disagrees is wrong... Can't argue with that. Seriously, I was a Clinton supporter, but Obama's almost just as good.
  17. ^ And it's always fitting on a site with a donkey "mascot"... -James Dillaman
  18. To quote Walsh in an NPR All Things Considered interview: "We wear the bikini's because it's the most comfortable and restricts our movement the least. The rules state you can wear a one piece if you want, but almost nobody does because the bikini's are just better. I gurantee you it's function and not just about fashion, as many people wrongly believe." -James Dillaman
  19. Maybe all these problems are the immunity challenge in disguise
  20. I bet with the rising cost of timber that it just isn't economical anymore. The weights that a waterslide would need to support are much easier accomplished with a simple steel structure as opposed to a complex wooden trellis. -James Dillaman
  21. Seventeen feet is not that tiny. Either way, there is no denying that Prowler is a true blue terrain coaster. You need only ride the train and maybe Fury of the Nile to see how thoroughly not flat that area is. I just meant that around here, "ravines" are usually over 30-40 feet, anything less than that is normally referred to as a "gully". 17 feet just seems more like a gully to me... I guess in the plains 17 feet is more impressive than in the hills of the Ohio River Valley... I'm fairly sure according to the dictionary the progression is: ditch-gully-ravine-valley-canyon -James Dillaman
  22. ^ That was also standard at KI back in the Paramount days, and I think it still is, now. -James "It just makes more sense" Dillaman
  23. ^ I can say that I didn't think I'd be able to do the slinky between floors, but once I got through it, it felt like the greatest accomplishment ever. I asked some of the attendants there and they said there has never been anyone stuck, but that could mean they're due... -James Dillaman
  24. ^ LOL at 17 foot and Ravine used in the same sentence. -James Dillaman
  25. ^ You must not have young kids... -James Dillaman
