^ The last thing that I will say is this. If there is a sign that you obviously noticed banning a certain behavior, you should not be asking a ride op to do it. If you were riding the Beast (which states to keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times, and you asked a ride op if you could stick your arm out sideways during the helix, and he said yes, it doesn't mean you should do it, as you would get hurt (believe me, I've been at the ride when people hit their arms on the helix tunnel before) The state law is to obey all posted rules and regulations AS WELL AS any oral instructions given by the ride operator. A ride operator telling you otherwise will never make it okay. Most of the POV's on this site are taken by Robb or someone who is a professional with special permission from the Press Relations department at the different parks. That being said, back on topic: Glad you had a great time at my home park. And be sure to come around next year, you will not be disappointed at the new ride. -James Dillaman

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread

For all the people going on and on about possible headbanging, it sure looks smooth in that video... I won't know until I ride it in a couple weeks, but it sure looks as if, once again, people falsely judged a ride before it was even finished. -James Dillaman -
Sorry for the double post, but my last post was a summation, this is addressing the above quote... Remember that the ride will utilize the valley in the Beast woods, so (I've not been able to get confirmation or denial on this, mind you) the first drop MAY not be the biggest drop. (Think Phantom's Revenge style) Again, this is speculation, not the facts I presented in the post above. -James Dillaman

^ Thank you for that! This is a B&M, according to 3 sources in park management. There is a splashdown, the name that I've heard mentioned is Mustang, it is going to be unique (their words - my view on that is only hyper with a splashdown ), and I've heard the station will be themed much the same way as Maverick's station (to fit in with the Rivertown theme) and the trains will most likely be Behemoth-styled hyper trains. That pretty much sums up all the information that I feel safe to tell everyone right now, so for those of you who haven't read all 89 pages of the thread, that should catch you up to speed. I've confirmed with other people what JZ said, that steelwork is planned to start by the end of this month. -James Dillaman

Voodoo and the screachy break
jamesdillaman replied to MASH80554077's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just be happy the brake is on, the last time I rode it (at Geauga Lake) the brake wasn't turned on, and the back spike (with no twist and no holding brake) was a total letdown. -James Dillaman -
The second stratosphere tower?

as it apparently has been for years. Is there any significant progress being made, such as permit processes or raising of capital? -James Dillaman -

They tell you it isn't open, they don't tell you why. That was his point... -James Dillaman -
^ That was a long, sad drive home. I hate the image on the page. I was an avid reader of the darwin awards books, but that goes too far. Not to mention it states that "catching airtime" means standing up on a roller coaster. The entire article is very uncouth. I can't get the image of her fiance out of my mind, and I can't believe they would be so insensitive. It makes me wonder how many of the other darwin award stories were so sensationalized and filled with shoddy information. -James Dillaman

You don't happen to remember the name of the ride ops that told you you could take a cell-phone picture while riding, do you? Because I asked one of the full-time managers, and they should have been immediately fired. You shouldn't ask a ride op anyway, as it's clearly posted on signs in front of every ride. All I'm saying is you should remove that one picture, because it's a hard enough rule to enforce as is, without a bunch on younger TPR members trying to get on-ride pics secretly. -James "I may not entirely agree with park rules, but I follow them" Dillaman

^ You should feel sorry for the family. It IS a tragedy no matter what the cause. How would you like that to be your son. This was a horrible end to what should've been a great day for their son. Lawyer's ambitions, as was stated earlier on this page even, are the likely basis for this. Once the lawyers realize they don't have a case, this will drop out of the news. -James Dillaman

^ I second what JZ said. Your pic, "Firehawk from the Racer's Lift" is a blatant disregard of explicit park policy, and is therefore also I believe against TPR's rules to post such a pic. That being said, you've got some nice pictures of Beast in there, I just hope none of them were also taken while breaking park rules. -James Dillaman

PTR: Dave & Falafel Go To Dollywood!

You didn't hit up Davy Crocket's Mini Golf!? I've played the rest of the ones you went to, with the exception of Adventure Golf. And I second that the Funicular up to Hillbilly Golf is almost more fun than the course itself. -James Dillaman -
^ The family won't win. The park is clearly not at much fault, and it SF can prove that the boy's own actions were more than 50% responsible for his death, then Six Flags will not have to pay any damages. However, they may provide some goodwill to the family, and help with the arrangements, which would be a good gesture on their part. -James Dillaman

For crying out loud, get over it, They scrapped a failing rides park in favor of a waterpark with a chance to turn a profit. Anyway, I remember working at KI for Procter and Gamble day, so I feel for the workers, as the public is far better to deal with than the crowds that come out for company events. They always seem to feel that they can do whatever they want because they're company bought out the park... -James "I thought we were done with this!" Dillaman

Ok, I'm lost here. What exactly was the hot and heavy reason the park had to be leveled again? Whomever just HAD to tear Astroworld down, and now, 3 years later, the land is just sitting there, unused. Grrrrrrr...... Sue, sorry you had to pay so much to get the ITZ credit, but love you're dedication. Good TRs of late, too. I thought the biggest issue with Astroworld was not having it's own parking. -James "Think of how much Six Flags makes on parking, and take that profit out of any parks operating budget..." Dillaman -
^ Even if you don't trust me, ask yourself one question: What dive coaster has an extended layout that would go out in the woods and make use of the terrain the way this ride does. Just based on the layout of the footers, it already is a ride that looks way more like Apollo's Chariot than Griffon. -James "I've lived in Cincinnati a long time, never trust the Enquirer!" Dillaman

The restraints look exactly like the ones on Catapult at SFNE. If that's so, then they will be very tight! Bring it on! -James Dillaman -
^ When you plant grass seed, you cover it with straw or hay to keep the seed from blowing away, but I seriously doubt they'd be planting any grass, yet, as it would be torn up by the construction equipment when it starts going vertical. -James "It just looks like they want it to look clean so guests don't notice it as much" Dillaman
