  1. In a perfect world, we could all agree that this is probably the most reasonable estimate at this point, and then have this thread locked. Having it consistently revisited with more speculation and negativity seems kind of pointless to me...
  2. Mako at SeaWorld Orlando. Great Odin's raven, this thing is stupid good.
  3. So if our first batch with everything ranked #1 had, say, 20 coasters, would the next batch all have to be #21? First time voting this year so just want to be sure I'm not skewing any results
  4. Makes sense but personally I don't really mind too much. Really the biggest advantage for me this year was that I could go straight to Orion during my first visit to KI rather than waiting for the staff to provide a physical card. Having a Michigan's Adventure pass would be pretty sweet, though. That's awesome. Personally I'm kind of anticipating reaching the point where I am truly behind the times technologically, if that makes any sense. Not having any social media is a start but there is definitely a long way to go
  5. You can actually activate your pass online ahead of time, and once you do it'll just be on your phone through the app. Cedar Fair parks have started providing this option during the pandemic. They even allow you to upload your own photo so you don't have to take one at the park.
  6. In fairness, both of those parks did a good job with sending a notification well in advance that they would be closed (yesterday's forecast was low 40s and possible snow), so I was easily able to cancel flights ahead of time.
  7. Nice to see the spiral staircase getting some company!
  8. Yeah, the unsecured leg is definitely an issue from the park's standpoint, but this also seems like the video poster is exploiting the situation for benefit of his channel. For whatever reason, negatively connotated videos tend to do really well on YouTube. Currently that video has 47k views after just one day, while the majority of the other videos he's posted in the past few months don't even have half that total.
  9. This just sounds like one of those custom coasters you build in Rollercoaster Tycoon where you think it's going to be amazing but then you test it and the intensity & nausea ratings are both ultra-extreme
  10. Yeah I would likely be spending most of the weekend at SFFT but I was hoping to also experience the coasters at SeaWorld at the very least. Based on that information it sounds like starting Saturday at SWSA might be the way to go, pending weather, of course. Thanks for the insight!
  11. Thinking of making a trip down to Texas later this month... is it possible that any of the larger coasters would not be open on a Sunday? I've heard that some of the rides have remained closed during non-peak days due to lower crowds resulting from the pandemic.
  12. ^ Just add one of those "S" pieces and that should do the trick Regarding the layout, no major changes are needed. In all seriousness, Lightning Rod is the only coaster I've experienced that makes me feel like I'm gonna sh*t myself (saying this as a good thing). Wood or steel, as long as this is still the case, I'll be more than satisfied.
  13. I'm not exactly qualified to answer this either, but I think Kings Island deserves a mention for the social distance themed entertainment they were doing this summer. Seems a decent way to make light of a tough situation. Although maybe other parks were doing something similar and I just didn't notice...
  14. One ride I would add that hasn't yet been mentioned is Shock Wave at SFOT. Some of the ejector airtime moments that are experienced after the initial loops are just ridiculous (in a good way)
  15. I was contemplating going to Vegas next month as well... but I think I'm going to postpone for a bit since Big Apple Coaster is closed all through January. Hopefully the June trip works out for you!
  16. What's interesting to me is that they can't seem to figure out what the top speed will be... and also that they consider El Diablo to be a roller coaster
  17. 2020 was my first year traveling outside of Ohio to visit theme parks (besides Disney). I learned that being in central Ohio is truly a blessing since it is within driving distance of so many great places, plus a day trip to either Cedar Point or Kings Island is really easy as well. Next year I'll look to get to some places that require air travel (Texas, possibly California, Florida), plus visiting some of the closer major parks that weren't able to fully open this year (SFGAm, KD, Carowinds, BGW). Possibly another trip through Pennsylvania to get a chance to ride some of the coasters which were closed this year (Steel Curtain, Storm Runner, Flying Turns, etc.) No real difference between ideal/realistic for me, mostly depends on flexibility of work schedule.
  18. La Vibora at Six Flags Over Texas. Was hoping to get one last ride on New Texas Giant at the end of the night, but somebody got sick on one of the trains about 10 minutes before closing
  19. There's only one logical answer to this question...
  20. If Lightning Rod truly was an out-and-out steel roller coaster, would it have experienced all of these problems in the first place?
  21. ^ Welcome to the internet, where all negative feelings and complaints simply must be posted for all to see, regardless of whether or not they're justifiable!
  22. Took the words right out of my mouth. This thread and some of the other forums are about to be nearly as entertaining as the ride itself
  23. Iron Gwazi may be similar to Steel Vengeance in terms of height and speed, but I'm hoping the shorter length and lack of a MCBR will allow it to maintain its speed throughout and really provide that "out of control" feeling similar to Lightning Rod, Outlaw Run, or even Storm Chaser at times. Should be a really fun ride.
  24. Or you could just go back a few pages in this thread to find all the unbridled joy this community was experiencing upon its demolition (which makes me a little sad, although as someone who grew up in Aurora, I may be somewhat biased)
