  1. I would say it depends on the discrepancy between what's been cleared to reopen and what hasn't. In Ohio it was getting pretty ridiculous, with restaurants, bars, gyms, pools, etc. already opened back in May, plus the list published yesterday of places that could open June 10th, which excluded theme parks. The Health Director's order would have had parks allowed to open July 1st at the earliest, which was pretty unfair. Also, Indiana and Kentucky are starting to reopen as well, which could have pulled business away from Ohio. Not sure how things compare in other states but hopefully we start to see a similar trend across the board.
  2. ^ They sure are. Ohio restaurants and bars opened outdoor seating on 5/15, and indoor seating not too long after on 5/21.
  3. I have seen some articles saying July 27th, but I have seen other articles like this one (updated today), that say June 29th. So not sure what to believe at this point. Kind of challenging when both NC and SC have to give the green light.
  4. A little surprised that this one hasn't been mentioned yet - Mine Blower at Fun Spot Kissimmee
  5. ^Agreed, amusement parks are very clearly called out in the new health order, so we'll have to wait until at least next month. Stricker's Grove also recently announced via their Facebook page that they will not be opening for the 2020 season. I found the article linked below to be interesting as well. It does seem somewhat likely that Ohioans could head over to Indiana or Kentucky as their attractions start to reopen. 6. If you've never seen teddy bears on an RMC before, here is a video for you:
  7. Frontier City's General Manager announced this morning on Good Morning America that the park will be reopening on Friday, June 5th, along with providing some other information about reservations, cleaning procedures, etc. Video: https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/food/video/flags-reveals-reopening-plans-theme-park-70878854
  8. Last to close and first to open. What a surprise
  9. Holiday World's new date reservation system is now live. Tickets are $30 plus tax. They've also released details and FAQs regarding the new virtual queue system, which can be found here: https://www.holidayworld.com/inline/?spMailingID=42538147&spUserID=OTU4NzAwMzMzNzUzS0&spJobID=1761871586&spReportId=MTc2MTg3MTU4NgS2
  10. ^Great pictures! I grew up in the area, and the Big Dipper was my first coaster. Was honestly not aware that it used to be painted white!
  11. For those who might want to visit after Silverwood reopens, it looks like ticket prices are going to increase concurrent with the release of the reservation system on May 23rd. Tickets purchased before then will be honored any day.
  12. Once the parks are open again, I'm planning on using something like this as a face covering. Basically something that isn't tied on the back of the head or looped around the ears. Maybe the parks would be okay with allowing these on coasters?
  13. Magic Springs is planning to reopen on June 1st, pending government approval. https://www.magicsprings.com/covid-19.php
  14. Lagoon does, in fact, have a specific COVID-19 page on their website. To verify thrillseeker's point, they are updating this link weekly. I would not expect the park to be open next weekend. Here's the latest update: www.lagoonpark.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/55_COVID-19_SEASON-PASS.pdf
  15. IAAPA has recently published reopening guidance for the amusement industry. Regarding face mask requirements for water park attractions, their stance is that it's basically at the discretion of the parks, based on the type of ride: "Whether or not guests should wear masks/ face coverings on water park attractions depends on the attraction. Operators should assess with their lifeguard training company or the ride manufacturer to determine the appropriate guidelines. Masks/ face coverings should not present a loose-article hazard, interfere with the safe operation of the attraction, or present a concern on attractions where guests are or may be fully immersed in water." Full guidance: https://www.iaapa.org/sites/default/files/2020-05/IAAPA_COVID-19_ReopeningGuidance_rev1_final.pdf
  16. Just for reference, there are some smaller parks in the Southern part of the country that are still (for now) planning to open sometime this month. Would not be surprised if any or all of these get pushed back, but as things currently stand, one of these candidates might not be a bad pick for the "first park to reopen" question
  17. HW has now officially designated June 14 as their target opening. https://www.holidayworld.com/covid-19
  18. Mine Blower on March 21st. Probably not the best idea to fly down to Orlando right at the onset of all this just for a few credits and a sky coaster, but given the parks closed 2 days later and everything that has unfolded since, I can’t say I have any regrets
  19. Kentucky Kingdom now targeting early June for reopening. Feasible? https://www.wdrb.com/news/kentucky-kingdom-announces-plans-to-open-in-early-june/article_d247b772-8324-11ea-a27d-2b4ee289ea09.html
  20. Cedar Point just posted several updated POV's on its YouTube channel, including a new one for Steel Vengeance. Perhaps the old one was too cloudy?

  22. Son of Beast (when it still had the loop) - Kings Island
