  1. Thanks for all the help! It does suck that I'm going on a Saturday instead of a Sunday. We were originally supposed to go on Sunday the 20th, but my dad found great Cirque du Soleil tickets for Saturday, and none of the three of us were going to pass those up. But looking at the weather forecast for Saturday, its supposed to be cloudy and "cold" that day. With any luck the crowds will come more on the nicer days surrounding it. But we'll see what happens. Hopefully I won't have to spend 147$ on a Gold flash pass, but hell, if I do, it will be worth it.
  2. ^Considering how expensive they are, wouldn't going on a few TPR trips be a little much to ask?
  3. My father and stepmother are coming down to Texas for a few days to visit me, and our plans include going to SFOT this Saturday on the 19th. Now, over here in Houston, this week is spring break. And a quick look at the Arlington, Fort Worth, and Dallas ISD websites show that it is also spring break for them. Would it be a wise idea to buy the gold flashpass? Or would standard or none at all be the better option? The flash pass would be for three people. We want to be able to hit up as many of the rides as we can, which shouldn't be too difficult since the park is open 10-10 that day, and we plan on leaving my house early to get there not long after opening. I know my step mom would also like to see some of the shows there. What are the "must sees"? And lastly, would there happen to be anywhere in the park where food doesn't have outrageously expensive (or at least slightly lower than normal) SF prices? If not, what are some of the better places to eat? Thanks for your help in advance! --Jake
  4. I'm becoming really fed up with girls as of late. It seems as if all of the girls who aren't currently dating someone right now have 1 of the 4 following problems: 1. Dumb as a chipped brick 2. Have no self esteem whatsoever 3. Have self esteem and tote it around like they're queen bitch of the world 4. Feel the need to act like whores and get hammered every weekend (both - especially the latter - I find to be extremely unattractive.) This isn't really aimed at anyone in particular, I'm just expressing discontent with the general population of girls at my school. But, on the flip side, I'm 17. I don't exactly need to find someone I can stand for the rest of my life right now. Still frustrating though.
  5. I'm going to the park on Saturday the 20th with my father specifically to ride this beast! But the only thing is that the website has the opening set at April 22nd. Was this some kind of soft opening? Or did it open ahead of schedule?
  6. Who here is preordering Portal 2? Looking at some of the previews on steam it looks EPIC. My brother and I are preordering it next week so we can play on Co-op mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZD17pQSqUU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95fymaCWviI I wonder if they'll ever make a full on Multiplayer Portal. Maybe with giant maps that require more than two people. Or even some kind of Co-op "Race mode" with two Co-op teams racing to complete the chamber would be cool.
  7. I haven't had the chance to see it in person, but I have watched La Nouba in Theater Arts class. Needless to say, it was pretty bitchin'.
  8. Gets a quarter. *Inserts Trojan Ecstasy condom*
  9. ^Its hard to have a push back when there's no set release date.
  10. Here's a cool video I found that demonstrates the importance of key and note selection in music. Here is a parody of Cannibal Corpse's song "Hammer Smashed Face" after being transposed into E major. (I want to say the original is in E minor, but I do not know for sure.) For comparison, here is the original song:
  11. ^But those are the final brakes, there is almost no need for there to be moving parts there. (I honestly don't understand why S:RoS had moving brakes, it seems counter-intuitive.) However, on an MCBR, where the train has to pass through at a much higher speed than in a brake run, it would make sense that the brakes can be disengaged to keep from slowing the train to a crawl, and they would probably be sprung, or in some other way made to default to the "closed" (for lack of a better term) position as a fail safe for something such as loss of power or air pressure.
  12. Back in 2001 two trains on SFNE's Bizarro (S:ROS at the time) collided in the station. http://capital2.capital.edu/admin-staff/dalthoff/sros.html That page is a bit dated, but has some good info as to what happened. A punctured air hose left the calipers "open" due to lack of pressure. I would just like to point out that this was a problem with the calipers moving into position and not with the magnets themselves. The older style Intamin magnetic brakes had two magnets mounted on to a roughly "L" shaped bracket, and would swing into position under pneumatic power to interact with the brake fins located on the side of the car, and away when the train had slowed down to a safe speed and braking force was no longer required. Air pressure lines to 12 of the swinging brake brackets developed a leak, and thus they failed to swing into position to slow the train. Source: http://www.rideofsteel.com/news.php?id=4
  13. ^Same here! And on the ones that are shaped right, the train either rolls back or crawls over at 1mph.
  14. Technically, shred HAS to be musical and artistic. Shred isn't exactly playing random notes. Otherwise anyone who could properly fret a string really fast and flail their picking hand could shred. You have to know scales all the way up the neck, fluently, mind you. (Sure, I know the C scale, but I far from know it well enough to just be able to improvise all over the neck.) Not to mention arpeggios, chords, and how to combine all of those so it doesn't sound like crap.
  15. ^Its made in Autodesk Inventor, and I doubt he would put a download up. Its of no use to anyone but himself, and there may be some intellectual property contained in the files that he doesn't want to share with the public.
  16. It may have something to do with Stengel GmbH being involved with TGII, and fabrication differences between the B&M-like track that Giovanola had to manufacture, and the steel rails and ledgers that RMC had to manufacture. Its possible that Titan and Goliath have those qualities mentioned because Giovanola did not have the ability to manufacture more complex track pieces that I imagine may be much easier to manufacture if it is simply two separate rails and new steel ledgers. Advances in computer technology and design methods may have also enhanced the ability to design such pieces with greater accuracy. Look at Intimidator 305 vs Millennium Force. Intimidator has batshit insane twisty bits, and MF has much slower transitions. I305 also has much more efficient lift supports that MF's lattice structure which was billed as top-of-the line engineering in 2000. READ: However, I am not incredibly familiar with the design and manufacture of roller coaster track, and I'm only saying what makes logical sense to me having such limited knowledge.
  17. I would say go with the flying turns. If you ask me, they look better than the bobsled coaster anyway, and you get more realistic behavior and better capacity out of them.
  18. Okay, new Win7 question, now my gadgets aren't working. They were working last night, I went to bed (I left the computer on), woke up this morning, and they were not working. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? The two gadgets present are the CPU meter (A) and the Clock (B).
  19. I'm currently playing Epic Mickey, and I have a love-hate relationship with it. The game itself is awesome, love the story, love the concept. The controls? The controls are FREAKING RETARTED. I find them monumentally frustrating, B to shoot paint, Z to shoot thinner, easy enough, makes sense, but what the hell is with the reversed axes on the camera? I have to press right to see the world to the left of me, and I have to press down to see the world above me, its assanine! And am I the only one who's noticed that Mickey can aim his brush about as well as an amputee who has had too much to drink? I always find myself wasting thinner or paint by shooting at the floor instead of where the target is pointing at. But really, other than that, I really do like the game. I suppose I'm just going to have to get used to the controls.
  20. ^Thanks for the help, but its not working. Here is a picture of what's happening in case it helps. Everything about them is the same except the file format. Also, as you can see, the mp3 and wma tags are quite obviously added by WMP and are not a problem with the album art.
  21. Okay, I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it for Christmas, and overall, I am pleased so far. But there is one little thing that is bugging me about Windows Media Player on Win7 that you may be able to help me with. My copy of Follow the Reaper by Children of Bodom got scratched, destroying three of the songs on the disk, and leaving the other seven in tact. I copied these seven songs off of the disk and onto the computer, and got the remaining three from my friend who has the same album, however, his are in mp3 format, and mine are in wma. When I put them into WMP, they show up as being part of the correct album with the correct track numbers, however, AS a different album. So now in WMP, I have two copies of Follow the Reaper, one with tracks 5, 8, and 9, and an mp3 label pasted over the album art, and one with tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 10, and a wma label pasted over the album art. This is quite frankly annoying as hell, and I would like to know if there is any way to consolidate these tracks into a single album regardless of file format. Anyone know how?
  22. 1. Amon Amarth - The Hero - 208 times 2. Rammstein - Roter Sand - 171 times 3. Rammstein - Ich Tu Dir Weh - 73 times 4. Five Finger Death Punch - Far From Home - 67 times 5. Five Finger Death Punch - Succubus - 65 times 6. Rammstein - Waidmanns Heil - 63 times 7. Amon Amarth - Live for the Kill - 59 times 8. Rammstein - Wiener Blut - 54 times 9. Rammstein - Pussy - 53 times 10. Five Finger Death Punch - Ashes The disproportional amount of Rammstein on the list is because I just recently got their new album "Liebe ist für Alle Da" and have been listening to it like crazy. But as far as The Hero and Roter Sand go... those two are just win.
  23. With finals being over I can dedicate a bit of time to testing out some files. (Mostly No Limits stuff) Just a thought, maybe activity has been low since most of the members on this part of the board are still in High School or College and this feature was announced right as "finals cram time" started. I know that's why I haven't really been able to help out. Just a thought though. EDIT: Here's a couple files I've tested out before I leave. (All No Limits Tracks) Rage by Datman: .nltrack file, Worked, no problems. Echo by Jakizle: .nlpack file, Worked, no problems. Backyard Invert by AJClarke0192: Game Exchange says .nltrack file, however when I download it is said to be an unknown file type, but will open in No Limits editor and Simulator. Otherwise, no issues.
