  1. Dude. Holy fuck. I feel unclean just reading a synopsis on those things. That thing is absolutely disgusting and would probably make me puke my intestines out if I watched it... and I've watched 2 girls 1 cup without problem. (Though that's not to say it isn't extremely gross either.)
  2. I did those detailed engineering drawings BY HAND. Computer skills are, unfortunately one area where I am a bit behind. However, the primary reason I made a working model instead of a computer model is that a computer does not prove that something works. I have seen a LOT of impossible animations, demonstrations, and simulations. A physical model show that either it works or it doesn't. That being said, a good computer model would be a convincing and fantastic complement to a physical model. But time and money.... Really? By hand? I have to hand it to you (no pun intended), that is extremely impressive!
  3. I realize that, but my point was to not just stop there. Looking at basically every major ride reveal, there are always some sort of concept videos/pictures that are entirely animation to go along with the announcement. In my opinion, something like that is what catches people's attention more (or the biggest names in the industry wouldn't constantly be using them), and really adds the "wow factor" to whatever it is they're revealing. Don't get me wrong, his model and presentation were both excellent, it's just that I could see a lot of people simply thinking of it as "cute," and not taking him as serious as he would like. I would think that the big names in the industry use expensive animations like those (which are usually done by an outside party) simply because they can afford to, and because its more catching to the public(!) eye. I think if he presented all of the necessary drawings to a real ride engineer or developer, it would speak volumes more than a flashy rendering.
  4. Point is, there is no practical way. The best thing to do is film it in slow motion. Looks great. I'll try to find a friend with a camera that does that. The speed debate is nothing new. The technology the model demonstrates is. You could create some sort of computer model. Those programs tend to be fairly expensive, but there are many people around here, and other sites, that are very good with things like that. You could contact one of them to possibly help you out. Here's one of many examples. At any rate, I'm glad I'm not the only one who daydreams about new coaster designs. I'm just too lazy to do anything about it. Your creation looks great, and I hope to ride it someday! By the detailed Engineering drawings he has, (shown in the video) it appears that he already has AutoCAD or similar. Also, for convenience to viewers of this thread, here are the videos. Regular/Type 1(?) 4D Coaster: Type 2 4D Coaster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmV35sdvOPA
  5. That's the spirit. Don't let people put you down, you have a great idea here, and I personally look forward to seeing this made and any other ideas your may have. And from the brief looks at your plans you showed in your videos, it appears that these trains have infinite rotation in any direction so long as the control rails "jump" (for lack of a better term) once you have maxed out one control rail's placement on the circular spine. Is this true?
  6. ^Both are equally correct according to MLA format and the English AP test. Rant: Do people not understand hints anymore? About five times this year my mother has attempted to get me something skateboard related. And all five times I have had to politely and thankfully decline and tell her that I enjoyed skateboarding when I was 13, and I do NOT anymore. I feel bad saying no to a gift she wants to get me, but I'd feel worse if she bought me an expensive skateboard and it just sat around unused.
  7. It's fun as hell, I'll give you that. But it has a lot of technical problems. (That's not to say its a bad ride, I really did enjoy it.) As mentioned before, the curved magnetic brakes are a no-no. The same applies to any kind of brake or LIM really. The only place you could get away with brakes on a curve is if the curve is vertical and gentle. Also, (again, as mentioned before), some of your banking transitions are too abrupt for the PTC trains. I would also recommend using Millenium Flyers for rides like this. And some of your G's got just nuts after the second lift. Even outside of the red G spike, they shouldn't really get anywhere close to that high. Unless your using RMCCo Topper Track or Box Track, sustained forces over 3.5ish Gs will absolutely rape the track and create a maintenance nightmare. But don't let me discourage you too much, your a new user, and you show a lot of promise. Keep trying. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.
  8. Just to show that I'm still in this (even if I totally scrapped everything I had and started over) Here's a picture of mine being worked on in Newton: Can you say "TWISTY!"?
  9. ^If I were you I would go for Railworks instead of Rail Simulator (Railworks is RS' sequel).
  10. Ibanez Guitar Jumpstart Metal pack so I can move off of this crappy Samick Strat imitation. And a Line6 Über Metal Distortion Pedal. A Line6 Echo Park would be nice too, but thats asking for a little much. Oh, and Minecraft.
  11. ^Of course! Its so obvious! Thank you again, BeemerBoy for bestowing upon us your wisdom.
  12. Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden: a classic! But it just changed to Ich Tu Dir Weh - Rammstein. Probably one of the most disgustingly perverted songs I've heard in a long time.
  13. ^I suppose, but giving every tab its own process just seems to eat away at my computer's resources. As for the new Opera.. Its alright. It definitely doesn't suck down very many resources, (I haven't seen it go over 25M of memory usage EDIT: Jynxed myself, right after I posted this it over doubled to 51.7M! ) but its really buggy and laggy. Namely, whenever I go to a YouTube channel, it tells me my flash player is out of date, even after I update right then and there, and can watch all the videos I want when I'm NOT on a channel. When I'm on a channel I can't do a thing, look at their videos, watch any of their videos, nothing. And quite frankly, its extremely aggravating.
  14. Even though I use Firefox, I agree 100%. It's had serious memory leak problems for the last several versions. Their new strategy of starting a new process for the plug-ins, plugin-container.exe, is interesting, but I'm not sure it has improved performance much. I can't stand it. Between Firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe, Firefox EASILY eats 300,000+ Kb of memory after 30 minutes of browsing. And lately I've been taking a distaste to Chrome because it opens a new process for EVERY tab used, also a memory eater. I'm downloading the new Opera browser now to see how that performs.
  15. Regular maintenance maybe?
  16. ^NL is certainly not dying. This forum just doesn't have a large No Limits community. If you want more feedback, I'd recommend also posting projects on www.nolimits-exchange.com.
  17. ^And that is why I, personally, would advise everyone to make sure their coasters meet the specifications at 25% speed, better safe than sorry!
  18. This seems like a good way to try out my Thrust Air Fighter idea. Count me in!
  19. ^"Typing like this is fun" wsolwe tyhnjiksd iksd dfiogtfvgfvtikcv ujil;ty OMFG!
  20. Mitchelpaul, would your ride happen to be sponsored by Mazda?
  21. ^I believe its been confirmed that files will be able to contain multiple coasters.
  22. Since they are tagging "2" onto the end of the title I think it will be approached as an entirely new game. I would say it's safe to assume this will cost money; my bet is in the $30-50 range, considering the first version is currently only $30. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave a discount of some sort to current owners of NL 1.7 though.
  23. ^Your mom showed up? Care to explain a bit? (No offense meant. )
