  1. Imagine riding Maverick without OTSR's . If you weren't sitting in the proper position during those tight transitions, it could very easily hurt your neck. It's probably not the best example, though, since part of the ride was actually designed improperly.
  2. Here's one I made a few years back. and a link to the original creator's track file on Coastercrazy coastercrazy.com/track_exchange/detail/12763
  3. This looks very nice. Which version of Inventor are you using? If it's 2009 or newer, the there's a really cool option in Inventor Studio's camera settings that lets you animate a camera along a spline path. I haven't tried it out yet, but it seems like it could be used to make a POV video for something like this.
  4. The proposed stratosphere ride was supposed to max out at 120 mph from a 750 ft drop, so it seems like anything taller than about the height of Kingda Ka would likely hit terminal velocity on the way down, unless the trains were either fully enclosed or redesigned to force the riders in a more aerodynamic posture, like a flying coaster position.
  5. I know the magical money fairy has been sick lately, but I'm not so sure she'll be able to cough up $750 million
  6. I'm think modern OTSR's are used as a safety precaution to prevent riders from leaning forward during high +g sections. This is one of the reasons why the seats are more reclined on newer loopers with lapbars. When I rode Mindbender at SFOG, I leaned forward just a little bit too much coming out of the second loop and hit my head on the seat in front of me. On rides like Maverick, it's really important to keep the riders in the proper riding position at all times, so the shoulder straps are there to keep the riders from leaning too far left/right/forward during the quick transitions.
  7. In that last pic, the launch track looks like it goes on for miles
  8. This kind of reminds me of a giant Pax Wild Train with a launch.
  9. I'm pretty excited about this addition. I thought the old glass-enclosed observation tower was kind of a disappointment, but this will definitely provide some great views of the park.
  10. I guess technically it's a coaster, but it's not a roller coaster.
  11. Slow? I really don't see how anyone could think that's a slow lift.
  12. This ride looks amazing It was hilarious watching Robb's POV with Google's auto caption turned on. My favorite quote was "Ellen, I'll tell you I never use a blackout on ministers."
  13. You're not trying to make this rideable, are you? That track needs to be a lot smoother.
  14. Those flat turns and the brightness of the Ferrari train still make me think that's a composited picture.
  15. The narrow structure of this ride makes it look deceptively large. It's hard to believe that this is no taller than a Huss Giant Frisbee.
  16. I think its new name will be "Bizarro, sponsored by Snickers"
  17. ^^ The individual sheets are bent before being welded together. I guess the official 95 degree record is, "First roller coaster track segment banked more than 90 degrees to be supported by a primarily wooden structure." It will be interesting to see how they support it.
  18. According to the force graphs I've seen, B:TR stays under 4 g's going through the loops.
  19. I won't be surprised if it's a 91 degree banked turn.
  20. I wish they would sell Voyage posters.
  21. ^ The slide segments are probably formed as 2d arcs rather than actual 3-dimensional space curves like a piece of coaster track, so the bolted connections have to be misaligned whenever the slope of the slide changes on a curved piece.
  22. This thing is huge. What's the approx. diameter of the central tower?
  23. I'm not sure if anyone brought this up, but the forum space needs a border.
  24. Does this mean that future Coaster Expedition dvd's will contain only one disk?
