Most Overrated coaster?
coasterlover420 replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Let the rioting commence One word...Trimless! In my experiences, coasters tend to be hyped exactly to their potential when I finally ride them, so nothing's really been such a disappointment to me. If anything, I tend to like coasters generally more than other people, whatever they have to offer. One coaster that I really thought didn't live up to the hype, however, was Viper. I don't really understand why people love arrow loopers so much, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I suppose I have to ride more before I make a final judgment. King's Island this summer! -
Did anyone else notice the "lower the volume" button?

Gröna Lund Discussion Thread
coasterlover420 replied to Tobias94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This coaster is awesome! They need a bunch of these in the US. Sometimes big and bad is fun, but sometimes smaller coasters are so much more fun! I think parks would do much better if they invested in maybe two of these types of coasters per year instead of big gimmicks that waste lots of land and money (well, maybe waste isn't the best word...) -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

^I think any time in May is a good time to be at CP. I'd say from May to October, the crowds only get progressively worse, so the earlier the better. Even Memorial Day can't beat a regular weekend in July. -
B&M vs Intamin
coasterlover420 replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Believe it or not, B&M's break down too due to lift problems. It's not like a lift is a problem-free choice. Plus, once LSM's are synced, they have very few problems. There is much less physical contact, which means much longer lasting and reliable systems. You would also be very surprised as to how accurate launches are. Even the most known rollback machine, TTD, monitors speed all throughout the launch and perfects the speed every time. The reasons the ride rolls back are weather conditions, other faulty parts, or simple variables in nature (air pressure, gust of wind, etc...), not due to random launch inconsistency. It's just simply a large ride. LIM/LSM's are even more consistent, because they have to be timed correctly or they overheat. Rides such as Maverick launch extremely consistently. The reason Intamin coasters break down so much is because they make their control systems more complex, especially the block systems. (two train dispatch, dual station, etc..) B&M's even have the same kinds of problems, you just never hear too much about them. And if you think B&M inverts don't have airtime on the first drop, come ride Raptor and sit on the right side. -
B&M vs Intamin
coasterlover420 replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^While that is true, it doesn't cause heated speculation between fanboys on the internet. And in my opinion, I really like that Intamin isn't afraid to push the limits. B&M doesn't even do launches...I feel like B&M is more concerned about their reputation than actually WOWing guests at parks. Even when it comes to hyper coasters, I would choose Intamin because I know the airtime would be intense! On the other hand, B&M coasters are much more reliable, capacity monsters, and much easier to operate...I think B&M coasters are a better experience when you want a nice smooth disorienting experience; as opposed to an intense, quick, forceful, and exciting experience which Intamin could offer. (Personally, I'd rather see a B&M flyer at CP next year than another Intamin.) -
^I feel like you are judging from the POV, because the actual turn looks like it has quite a bank to it. Obviously this link to r c pro won't work, but if you copy/paste and fix the link there's a pic half way down of the MCBR and 3rd launch. The turn off the MCBR looks banked to me. http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/updates/bgt1.13.11/

Yay! I'm so glad to see omo gettin some love! This is gonna make the front of the park look a lot better, that's for sure. And maybe it will get more riders! -
AAAAAAAAaaaannnnd, incorrect. There is a video from r c pro that shows that it's made it to the MCBR already! Here's the facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rollercoasteregomaniacs.com%2Fupdates%2Fbgt4.19.11%2Fch2ndtesting.wmv&h=f83da Um, dead link. Just look around r c pro...you'll find pics and a video

It really doesn't take long to maker sure a restraint won't open and a seatbelt is buckled That was a completely different system, though. It needed to be slowly set up because the parts needed to be worn in before they could begin to function normally. As far as LIMs go, that isn't really the case. It's more to make sure that they don't over heat and to get each of the launches timed. Especially since there are 3 launches, it might be pretty difficult to regulate speed in/out of each launch aside from the first one. Especially with changing variables such as weight.

Cedar Point ERT at Night
coasterlover420 replied to coastermaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, imo, even if it's a little crowded, that's 2-3 more times you could ride Millennium Force as opposed to 0. -

You can find a whole lot if you go to Google Patents and just start searching a bunch of things. (I.e. "roller coaster" "amusement" "bolliger" etc...) -

It definitely does. It looks like it was originally painted dark maroon or something. I think Raptor needs one too, because it's almost completely coated in bird crap... -

Well hey, if they put that back in, they'd better add stairs out of the pond and encourage riders to wear bathing suits!
