Cedar Point Questions.....
coasterlover420 replied to outbackjack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Yes 2. Yes. Especially since the next answer is: 3. Maverick, Millennium, Dragster. If you stay on site, it will be really easy to knock these down in the first two hours. Dragster is not open early though, so you just have to get to it quickly. Everything after that is pretty random. Raptor's line tends to be long, but depending on the crew, a long line doesn't mean a long wait. Everything else should be easy. 4. I agree with Wildcat, actually, but don't leave out any classics. Gemini, DT, Iron Dragon... All worth it in my opinion. Also, if you'll want to ride Windseeker, I would suggest planning that into the day since it will most likely be quite popular. 5. DO NOT EAT AT CEDAR POINT! Hahaha that's the only answer. There is fast food not too far that saves a ton of money, just get your hand stamped and come back to the park after lunch. However, stay away from the McDonalds on cedarpoint dr. It is disgusting. P.S. come say hi! I'll be working Wicked Twister all summer! -
Theme Park Change

Geez, I wish a vip tour was only $100. This looks pretty cool though. -
Considering it's under Magnum's station, only employees see it, so it doesn't matter. CP doesn't care much about product placement unless the guests can see it. Hidden things don't matter. Cedar Point is still Pepsi. I would not be surprised if they just took them off to clean them or just to check for hairline cracks. Basically, if anything can be taken apart, it gets taken apart (depending on how often certain things need to be maintained. There was one point where CP took a section off of WT's tower because it needed to be fixed up.)

For any CP Park Op employees who haven't found it yet, this site should be quite helpful if you want to get to know your crew -

^Well if you're concerned about riding a bunch of coasters, no. But on the other hand, the experience is quite amazing! For instance, riding Twister while the fireworks are shot off barely 300ft away. The entire lake fills with lights from people's boats because they all come to see the fireworks. Not to mention, lines open til 1:08am -

^I think that the bars do seem to stick a little too far out, but I would disagree in thinking the restraints would be anything short of incredibly comfortable, i.e. flier restraints. And I think, at least relative to my shortness, the uniform B&M OTSR's are much more obstructing to the rider's view than anything else. I personally don't think they're very comfortable at all, but flier restraints are AMAZINGLY comfortable. Also, I think that what makes coasters more exciting isn't extreme/unique forces, but rather unique and bizarre movement. For example, in my opinion, what makes Tatsu's pretzel loop amazing isn't the extreme forces involved, but simply the idea that no other element makes you flip forward. Most elements are backflip-type movement. I think Raptor is going to have really unique movement since the seats move more up and down than typical coasters (being on the outside, of course), and especially since the idea of the heartline is kind of out the window with this design. I must say I am not too surprised that this prototype is getting a lot of criticism, considering all people tend to do nowadays is talk a coaster down until they actually ride it and have their minds changed...(or the opposite) Sadly, I don't see that happening, considering the original restraints are much cheaper and allow the seats to be closer together, which is a big deal considering B&M only does 4+ across seating. -

As far as the wheel debate, I was referring to the "pinch" wheels, since those are the ones used on the Hulk. I know other types use tires, I should have been specific. -

^Yeah, but that was Vekoma But you're right. Either way you look at it, an onboard computer controlling things is not a good idea. -

Just for the record, drive wheels on B&M's are not tires. They are made of a much more solid material, I'm not sure what, but they are surely not tires filled with air. This is for traction and control purposes, I suppose. -
Favorite element
coasterlover420 replied to Curt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite has to be the pretzel loop followed closely by airtime hills However, I think Starry Night Ripper's new element is gonna pack a big amount of thrill. I hope I get to ride it someday.. -

^The 2nd lift on STR hurts? I haven't experienced that... -
That depends on block configuration. In this case, CH's theoretical is higher than Maverick's anyway, but it still all depends on blocks. In Maverick's case, 6 trains is too many. Dragster is the same way, that's why 5 train operation is actually more efficient. From my experience, actual capacity is always much lower than theoretical, simply because of stupid guests, single riders, small/odd numbered parties, and unforeseen circumstances. If CH has a theoretical of 1350, I'd guess around 950-1000 pph actual capacity. Magnum has a theoretical of 2000 riders! Actual capacity hovers around 1200 or 1300. I would not assume CH to have a high capacity, just not a terrible capacity either.

Wow, that ride is a piece of crap. It's so painful, and it feels like you're a pet that was caged and a cruel owner is swinging you around in loops. While it may seem interesting, it is not a very good investment, imo. Both times I rode it at Elitch's it gave me bruised ribs... -
