  1. I'm sorry, but I just still don't see anything impressive about this coaster yet. I thought maybe construction would make it look massive, but it just looks like another hyper still...still waiting to be impressed.
  2. I'm guessing Millennium has the same amount, if not more...? You would think so, but actually not. Dragster has 11, while Millennium has 9. Dragster has the extra launch position and 3 people at the unload instead of 2.
  3. ^^Actually upon a closer look they appear to be half full trains. Even still, with full trains they'll be moving pretty quick, especially on a hot day.
  4. I can't tell if there are dummies in there, but if there aren't, this thing is gonna be hauling ass with people in it!
  5. Its disappearance wasn't surprising though, as the system was greatly abused. Plus it allowed CP to reduce employees, saving money. The rides that needed the system required like 1 or 2 extra operators. As it is, Dragster runs with 11 people...
  6. ^^^Really. Realistically, just expect lines that are long and dreadful the whole season. Then if they aren't long you are pleasantly surprised, and if they are long you're not shocked.
  7. Come to think of it, I have noticed Raptor has a bit of a rattle. I'm assuming it is different than Dominator's, but it's kind of like the train is really flimsy and bounces forward and backward. You can feel it push and pull, especially after the cobra roll/before the block.
  8. ^^That's very true. Since I305's turn is much more stress on the track, obviously it is likely to wear down more quickly. And I honestly doubt that maintenance has anything to do with things like this. Stuff like this just happens over time, you have to deal with it. Parks take pride in their coasters, especially the giant crowd pleasers, and maintenance workers do their job, that's pretty much all they can do. If a coaster is running, they're not just going to take it down whenever they feel like it and replace wheels, they wait until the wheel isn't useable. Then if night maintenance decides that something needs to be replaced, they do it. Every night. Maintenance teams never get enough credit for their work.
  9. All of them/none of them if you mean right at the top, none of them (typically), but if you mean on either side, yes there is ejector air just because there's no way to drop 90 degrees without negative g's
  10. When I paid my deposit for New Hotness there was a box where it said add guests, does that actually reserve that person a spot or do they have to pay the deposit to be guaranteed a spot. (I noticed it said for "events" I just didn't know if trips were the same...)
  11. It's not like LIMs are these huge things that only work on a large scale. If you have the right circuit built, LIMs can be any size and do practically anything. It's not like a magnet that small is weaker than a large magnet, the only difficulty would be storing the energy, which really actually wouldn't be that difficult. I'm sure you could even invent a control system that doesn't require storing energy but uses live feed or just simply batteries. Probably a rather strong battery, though (9v per say?) It's all about design. Induction is used for a lot of small things, especially household objects. Just buy any small 3 setting fan and take it apart.
  12. ^It is actually more the deformity of the track due to the wheels deforming. Urethane wheels warp and wear down a lot and they do so in an uneven manner. When they do this, they bump around the track. The typical solution is to replace them with newly wound wheels, but the problem is that over time this deforms the track as well, which you can't really fix. B&M rattle I think is a little different. I think that's just because the wheels aren't fit to the track in the same manner as Intamin wheels, and they tend to move around a lot more. I first observed this riding Diamondback, when during the airtime hills you can actually see the wheel assemblies shaking left and right independent from the track. B&M wheels are clamped to the track using incredibly strong springs within the bogeys, whereas Intamin wheels are held to the track using black rubber stoppers which you can see rather easily. Unfortunately you can't see this on a B&M since the spring is hidden.
  13. The end. I am not sure what the Intamin "rattle" is, but it if it is roughness that's not so rough that it's uncomfortable, then yes it does, mostly on the first overbank. I am assuming this is the same kind of stuff Twister and Dragster have? And the Kingda Ka rattle... I am sad to say I have noticed Maverick developing a bit of this.
  14. The over speed alarm is basically for the brakes since the brake run is so short. When the train is going too fast, there is no guarantee the train will be stopped in time, so as a consequence they have to run 2 trains so the unload station is empty while a train is on the circuit. Fun fact: all Intamins at CP have an over speed error
  15. ^&^^I would not consider Millennium Force by any means a consistent roller coaster. By the end of the night it could be going 15 mph faster at the brake...so many factors affect it, and most people only get 1 or 2 rides every year, so it is hard to judge what the ride is doing overall by only 2 rides.
  16. Minus the height restriction, I would consider Maverick a family coaster. Usually the people I know who don't like coasters too much really like Maverick; those types of people who won't ride Magnum or Millennium. I can't really think of an average "family" type person I know who has gotten off that ride dissatisfied.
  17. We are not restricted from singling people out from sitting on handrails. It's a safety issue so if singling people out is what it takes, then there's no real problem. It's not like the park will be sued because a guest was singled out about a safety issue. Honestly we get more guest complaints about ride ops being boring than about ride ops being picky.
  18. Props for the 300ft brake run! Otherwise it wasn't bad. I think you should reevaluate the banking on that second drop because 0.7 lats are pretty uncomfortable.
  19. Not exactly something I am working on at the moment, but it's some of my latest: http://nolimits-exchange.com/coaster/black-star/4531
  20. ^Oh no, handrails are actually quite dangerous to the GP (consider the average IQ of a park goer...). If someone slips off, they get mad at us and we don't want that to happen. It's especially bad at Raptor because people will sit on the yellow rails, and if they fall backward, that's a 20ft drop... ...not to mention several people have broken handrails from simply sitting on them.
  21. ^I love watching stuff from Dragster's past. It makes you realize what an impact it really had at the time.
  22. Well the doodle is at 48 degrees, so it's pretty damn close. That lift is going to be insane!
  23. I respect how much time you put into your coasters Chris. Keep it up!
  24. I feel like I should be getting more excited, but so far it just looks like another B&M coaster...maybe once the lift is finished..
