  1. Well as is evident, dive machines loose momentum really quickly. There is more than twice as much surface drag as normal coasters, and less people, which means even a 200 ft drop wouldn't be enough to do a lot with. Also with wide trains, the transitions can't be very quick, which implies the layout would need to be more sprawled out, which would waste momentum as well.
  2. I'm not against the OTSR part, I'm against the lapbar part...
  3. There are old buildings on the plot. Clearly that means they are going to tear them down and build a new gigantic roller coaster that costs $50M in their place. All of these rumors sound like all the rumors I've heard made up by employees, and there's probably equal truth to all of them (practically none). With the way the park is, I think their next move will be completely unpredictable. Their coaster collection is pretty balanced; there's nothing too outlandish or crazy. They could keep it that way, or they could start putting crazy things in (i.e. Zac Spin or X car type). Knowing the park's general goals, they will go for capacity over anything. Numbers are easily one of the most important things aside from safety and customer service (although capacity branches from customer service).
  4. ^Completely agreed. Twister II is easily, for me, the best coaster in the park. Not to offend SLC and Boomerang fans... I think the park is well overdue for something new, whether it is a coaster or not. I honestly have no preference as to what it will be, I just want something new and exciting. I'm sure the locals completely agree. It's just sad that there isn't much space to work with aside from the former location of Flying Coaster. It's not like we'll be seeing a hyper coaster or something. I just want it to be different.
  5. I think that is just for construction purposes; I doubt the catchcar is in the track yet. Plus if they are stull doing extensive work they wouldn't want a valuable piece of hardware just dangling there.
  6. ^They are? I know way more B&M's that make a ton of noise than I do with sand in them. I agree, though, it is possible to mute them.
  7. ^Agreed, I don't think speed will be much different. I just liked the effect of being right up next to the ground during that turn. I'm thinking the hill before the 'outer banked' hill is what they're changing the most; taking a lot of banking out and adding the 0:00.10 of airtime so it appears more like an airtime hill rather than a weird banked bump.
  8. Why? Mine Ride's restraints are not very accommodating, plus Gemini's line is never long enough for it to make a difference running 2 trains rather than 3. They wouldn't run the risk of having it set up day after day either. It's not like the Mine Ride trains are heavily themed. Most of the ride's theme is around it rather than on it.
  9. ^^That angle makes it look so much more sprawled out. It must be huge in person!
  10. I think people get bent out of shape over Millennium Force because the transition is much more gradual. It's not going to throw you out of your seat, but the weightlessness is still there. And yes, there is less of this experience depending on weather, but it's just not the type of coaster with quick transitions. B&M, on the other hand, tend to incorporate very quick transitions (I refer to the transition from +g to -g) as is evident by Leviathan's first drop. You shouldn't really confuse this with airtime, because if there's one hyper coaster I experienced less airtime on than Millennium Force, it was Diamondback (I refer to sitting in the middle of the train, of course).
  11. I see mucho ejector air near the end of that drop! Hopefully lots in the back of the train
  12. ^Don't judge til you ride it. Things like that have a way of really surprising you.
  13. I'm thinking they decided to open more rides during each ert session so lines will be that much shorter, then they consolidated that into one day..
  14. ^Actually everything goes til 1:30 and DT will only go to 12:30
  15. That's weird. I didn't think they would change it that much. My favorite part of that was how low to the ground it was...It also looks like they'll be changing the banking after that completely, which was also one of my favorite parts of the ride...I'll have to ride this again this year to see
  16. ^What do they know at Chick-fil-a? Honestly, I don't see why a short term attraction is such a controversy. The shows there don't even last that long. Plenty of businesses, museums come to mind, have plenty of short term attractions that aren't supposed to last that long.
  17. That's exactly what I was wondering. I didn't think they would just run a cable through Comet.. I don't think there was a coaster where Intamin ran the cable back through the track whence it came, but I don't see why they wouldn't in this case. It doesn't seem practical, and they would have to shut down two coasters if it needed replacing.
  18. I get how they connect now! Does anyone know what they will be doing with the lift cable? Will it be going over/under Comet?
  19. In my opinion, what they should do is limit the number of fast passes they give on a certain day, and sell them in advance, i.e. online, so that people who are planning huge trips and are concerned about credits can get them in advance, and regular park goers can't just show up and buy one. On the other hand, I am pretty much opposed to any fast lane system coming back to the point, but that's not really from my 'coaster enthusiast' standpoint.
  20. ^^Except on i305, the spine kind of morphs out of the structure. It looks like Skyrush will be different. Will the supports be bolted onto the sides of that piece of track? Keep in mind the part of that piece with the double spine will be pointing down.
