  1. From what I have observed, this is because of a difference in the ways B&M and Intamin lock their wheels to the track. B&M uses springs, so the wheels are capable of moving around a lot more during the course. Intamin has the wheels pressed against rubber stoppers, which hold the wheels more firmly to the track, but do cause more friction...at least this is how CP maintains them separately. It really has nothing to do with it, and I bet TTD gets a lot more wind than KK, being right on Lake Erie. It really comes down to maintenance. I have a feeling the shape & design of the trains have a large factor in it too. Because of the OTSR's locking mechanism, the center of mass on the KK trains is much higher from the track, which would cause them to move around a lot more. As far as rattle in general on coasters, a large factor that people don't take into account is whether they are sitting in front or rear of an individual car. If you're sitting right on top of the wheels, you will get a much rougher ride than if you are sitting between two different sets of wheels.
  2. ^^Oops ^In my experience working coasters from both companies, Intamin wheels need to be replaced like 1000x more often. Intamin tends to make coasters that use the wheels much more aggressively and more often, so they blow out a lot, especially with guests on them. This also goes along with the "flat spot" conversation. Especially Wicked Twister which doesn't have a transfer section; the wheels get really deformed and the ride feels like rolling over a bed of rocks, even though the track may be perfectly smooth.
  3. ^It is also so the wheels and wheel assemblies are much easier to replace/inspect.
  4. While this is true (most people don't have a problem jumping into seats), some large or short guests have lots of difficulty getting into those seats.
  5. Huh? When have you tried these restraints? They actually look more comfortable than the other Intamin restraints. These trains look beeeeeeeautiful is it just me or do they look a little B&M...ish?
  6. ^^^Yes, they have the ride hosts direct traffic through the midway instead.
  7. Fun fact: Pirate ride is now home to employee cleaning supplies and height sticks, and is also used as a meeting space.
  8. My track is done enjoy! http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=2595
  9. Do I spy new paint already coating Millennium's track??
  10. *Nothing confirmed yet*, but in an off-season tour, it was announced that Millennium Force, Power Tower, and Giant Wheel will be getting lighting makeovers. Quote: "When you picture the new lights on these rides, think of Windseeker. That's what we're going for."
  11. It appears they have taken a lot of the banking out, though. I'm disappointed because that was one of my favorite parts of the ride nobody ever makes things unusually banked like that, it was really unique. (I could be wrong, the picture is at a pretty weird angle.) I'm going to miss the old spaghetti bowl, but I always welcome improvements to a rough coaster.
  12. ^^We aren't talking about differences in the layout, we are talking about differences in vertical construction, which was the intent behind the change here in the first place. Also, what is going on with the opposite banked turn before the 90*? That's what I've been most curious about and it doesn't seem like any pictures are showing what's going on there...
  13. Is the station supposed to be themed to something special? Or will it just be a building?
  14. Hmmm...looks like Intamin is doing something new with the brakes
  15. ^The only one I'm actually aware of is Disneyland...there are probably a couple more, but in general it's always just a large parking lot. On a random side note...parking garages are a lot harder to keep clean than giant flat spaces.
  16. ^Yeah, thanks to all the trims, the wires have to go half way down the course. Knowing B&M, there won't be very many proxies to deal with, though, so that's always a good thing.
  17. Parking in the lake would probably be better
  18. I think if they make an investment involving parking lots, they would need to build a parking structure. There's just no real estate to relocate parking onto flat land.
  19. After seeing drawings, I thought the layout looked kinda boring, but looking at the proportions of the ride itself makes it look really exciting! That first hill should be a doozie!
  20. That's not true at all. It fills up 100% easily 7 or 8 days through the summer. The employees have to park inland and take the bus, especially 4th of July. I did say "rarely." So 99% was a bit of an exaggeration. But assuming the lot only fills up only 7-8 days out of 140ish (I estimated on the calendar), that's roughly 95% of the season the park could afford to lose spots. I would assume the number of spots lost wouldn't be overly significant either. Especially enough to negate the potential gains from a significant new attraction. Yes, but even 7 or 8 days is too much to afford losing spaces. On any single day when parking gets out of hand, guest complaints are through the roof. You have to consider needs for an entire season, you can't just let everyone go nuts on days where the parking lot will be full. As it is, this past 4th of July, the cars were parked halfway down the midway. Not to mention if a new attraction was built, it would draw even more people. It would be chaos.

  22. I'm not against the OTSR part, I'm against the lapbar part... Say whaaaaaaa? The thigh crushing death...
