Why does that make you nervous? It makes me excited! They know what they're doing and construction is going smoothly. -

It just feels like this ride will be slow with a not-so-special layout. This is just a gut feeling but after a year or 2 i think this is going to be a ride that won't get too much attention from people in the park and us enthusiasts. Point being I'm probably the least excited for Gatekeeper out of the 4 major new USA coaster additions. Soo...don't ride it. Save it for the people who want to. I don't really understand how anybody can bash coasters the way they do, even before they open. Everybody finds SOMETHING to complain about. They scream for more airtime, more speed, yet criticize Skyrush for being too short and for the restraints..? Then say we want taller and faster, more comfortable, then complain that gatekeeper looks boring..? I seriously want to know what coaster dorks want from these companies, like what would actually be the prime coaster to rule all coasters? You can't have all of it in one coaster, so just enjoy this coaster for what it is. That's why parks have more than one coaster! I personally would ride Skyrush millions of times and just get over the leg pain, because it was THAT good to me, yet I would also ride Diamondback over and over again because it is very comfortable and very smooth. They're different, but they have their own individual advantages and disadvantages. The whole point is that they provide variety. Just accept this coaster for what it is, get on it, scream, have fun, then go ride some other coasters. CP is the greatest amusement park in the world for its VARIETY, not any one coaster there... It's not like Manhattan Express is being moved to CP or anything... -
I've never really bought into that rumor because at the end of the day, once a park owns a ride, it isn't in the control of the ride manufacturer how the park chooses to operate, maintain or modify the ride, unless they have some sort of specific contract for those kind of things, which I believe Six Flags handles totally in-house. I'd imagine Six Flags consulted B&M on this conversion, but I can't find any reason to believe that they would need their approval to be able to move forward with this kind of project. I believe B&M has exactly that contract with every ride they make. They supply life-time warranties with every coaster, only if the park operates it as B&M specifies. Otherwise they lose that warranty. I bet B&M has been highly involved if this is actually to become a reality. And in regards to the Stand-up/floorless discussion, it's probably a lot easier to just turn a train around and switch the lift/anti-rollback dogs around than it would be to completely modify a station and track structure to accommodate floorless trains. Just my opinion. Since I discovered this, I have never been so excited to visit a Six Flags park, let alone ride a Batman clone!

What do you expect, it's not an Intamin. So it is actually going to be a thing called "open". It's nothing to do with down time, it just has an astronomically higher capacity. That's why there's never a line. -

From that interview, he never made it out to be a financial disaster...it just wasn't as profitable as Magnum and Millennium. -

Who's to say Cedar Point hasn't invested in anything since 2007? The park as a whole has gone through so many improvements in those years, it's crazy! Luminosity, Windseeker, Planet Snoopy, new light package on several rides and throughout the whole park, Shoot The Rapids, new paint on Millennium Force, Dinosaurs...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Just because a new coaster isn't revealed doesn't mean the park isn't putting millions of dollars into the park's well being. Plus, who's to say Top Thrill Dragster was a financial disaster? As far as I know, it is easily the most photographed/filmed roller coaster in the world. The only other coaster that's more popular in the park than TTD is Millennium...(with the exception of Raptor on some days). Just because you don't personally like a roller coaster doesn't mean it was a financial disaster... Somehow I knew when the picture arose this would come up... -

^^Nope. A B&M coaster with 3 trains can only function smoothly with 5 blocks. All B&M coasters with 2 trains have 4 blocks, and the ones with 3 trains have 5 blocks. Millennium Force is an example of a 3 train coaster with 4 blocks, but that's different because all 3 trains move at the same time. You can't dispatch another train while there's a train in the circuit, and that's why Millennium's capacity is drastically lower than any B&M coaster. The reason you can't have a train on the lift and a train in the circuit is because the lift will stop at the top to wait until the train before it has completely cleared the Main brake, which means it will be forced to park in the transfer block every single circuit, which isn't technically supposed to happen on a B&M coaster (bad operations aside); and it also means the lift will "set up," which means someone has to actually go out to the lift and push a "lift start" button to turn it back on. -
Why all the screaming, Robb?
coasterlover420 replied to douggw's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You're not the only person who has told me this! Like I said, my noises and shouts are my "natural" reactions to rides. I'm not doing it "for the camera" or anything. I do it even when there are no cameras on the ride! I guess you can say my "wheeee!" is almost like a human accelerometer! I normally do it when there is airtime, or at least something that takes me by surprise. Not only that, but I think I learn more about a coaster from the "OW! OW! Jesus Christ! Oh s***..oh s***..what the f**k was that?! OW! WHY DID WE DO THIS!??!" -
Try to make it more teardrop shaped. The radius must be significantly higher near the bottom of the element, and then the radius can be smaller at the top because the train will have less speed. Here's a rough sketch I drew in about 5 minutes: You can see the difference. The one on the bottom will have significantly lower g's at the same height, and will take up less space. (I didn't bother to change the roll since I'm just talking about the shape)

Why all the screaming, Robb?

This thread got pretty crazy... To all the people who think this website needs to change because people are too rude etc.. if you want to talk to someone who will agree with your opinions and tell you you're intelligent, talk to your mom, not the internet. You don't own any portion of this website, so either get used to the way its run, or don't visit it ever again. There are lots of coaster websites out there, why would you settle for one that makes you upset? -

^This The train uses somewhere around 320-350 feet to accelerate (No way to be really sure unless you show up with a ruler...) by my guess. This is the distance from the catchcar's starting point to the brakes used to stop it. Also, yes the ride senses the speed of acceleration, and the system shuts down when it senses it is going too fast, however the way it regulates launch speed is by setting an initial amount of power before every launch, then shuts down when the catchcar reaches its brakes. Yes there is a safety system in case it does launch too fast, but the ride typically uses the same distance for launch. Also, depending on all kinds of weather or misc things, the ride can launch between 112 and 122 mph to make sure it crests the top at a decent speed. (This is all to the best of my knowledge. The park reprograms rides a lot so it may change even from year to year.) THIS. I've been so disappointed by B&Ms latest stuff. I'd rather ride Raptor over most of the inverts I've been on. (Still waiting on the Florida inverts!) I know so many people rave about Alpengeist, but I found it to be kinda force-less as well. The ride is just big, and that's the gimmick. To me, the time between elements on it made the ride seem sluggish, despite its size. Same with wing riders. They're just different and that's the gimmick. I really hope GK turns out to prove me wrong, but all I see in it is a large, fun, force-less gimmick. -
When you register the program, it creates strings in the registry saying that the program is registered. If you run off of the operating system that was in your laptop, you should be able to find it by searching under 'Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NoLimits Coasters' or something similar in regedit and the two strings associated should be your username and regkey. If you are running it with a separate operating system installed on your desktop, the program is using a different registry, and therefore these strings don't exist in the registry your computer is using.

1. I'd guess around 220-230 ft 2. What part of it? The length of the catchcar track, the length before the train begins to go vertical, the length the train actually spends accelerating (from the beginning to the catchcar brakes)... -
