Apply for a summer job at a park
coasterlover420 replied to KingRCT3's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At Cedar Point, 18. Cedar Point and Disney World are the only parks with dorms. Other parks only hire local employees. The maintenance department at CP requires you to have a thorough background with mechanics in any certain area, such as cars or farm machinery. I would bet other parks do the same. Just be aware of that. -
The thing about arrow corkscrews is that they are designed geometrically, and not by forces like a B&M corkscrew. Therefore, recreating them accurately in Newton will be next to impossible, unfortunately. If you are willing to learn another program, FVD++ actually has geometric design capabilities, and I think that would work a whole lot better. It is very similar to Newton, actually, so you shouldn't have trouble picking it up.

I am not an international student, but I know for a fact that CP hirs a TON of foreigners. There is a link on the jobs website for an international application. https://jobs.cedarfair.com/cedarpoint/ Basically Cedar Point offers positions for whenever you can be available. Staffing changes a lot throughout the season because of certain people's availability. They offer dorms as well so there's no need to look for apartments or anything like that. Hope this helps! -

There's 2 pieces of track going through the keyholes in that concept...did they put the coaster together wrong?? No, but seriously, no matter how concept art ends up looking, there's always going to be differences with finished products. Don't trust concept art, plain and simple as that. It's for a general vague idea of what the finished product will look like. I personally think the entrance looks pretty sexy it looks much more welcoming than the previous one for sure, and the focal point seems to be the gate itself, which means less people will be confused as to how to get in to the park (which, unfortunately happens...) -

^LOL I think once the track goes through it, it won't look so bad. I would never complain about awkward looking supports Ok it's not THAT awkward, but still... -

Exactly! I don't know why enthusiasts would be so opposed to the idea of fast passes when it really saves a lot of money in contrast to going two days instead of one. "But people cut in front of me in line and I don't feel like paying extra!" On rides such as Raptor, even on a busy day, they let like 150 an hour through, which is only 5 or 6 trains on raptor. That's like an extra 5 minutes per hour. That's not that bad! There are rides without fast lane, though. Ride those first! They're kind of the less popular rides so there's never a line in the morning. Then you have all day to use fast lane and ride everything even faster! -

^You can't actually walk from Breakers Express to the Point, as it is illegal to walk across the causeway. There also isn't really a reasonable way to get from the Cleveland airport to Sandusky, so the only option that works is renting a car, really... Hotel Breakers is a nice option being directly on Point, next to the beach, and with restaurants/gift shops; but Breakers Express is a great cheaper option. It's up to you which amenity you prefer. -

http://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/Keyhole-Tower-Construction-Update This does not say anything about "further down the road" but is the official confirmation on the gaps. It also says the color is not final, so I guess they will be painted an even prettier color -

^I agree totally! Those are much better opportunities for photos and actually enjoying the views of the park, while enjoying a nice breeze, rather than trying to take photos through dirty windows while up there for about 4 seconds before coming back down. Space Spiral wasn't very good as an observation tower anyway... It's been confirmed and mentioned several times that the gaps will not be filled in. -

^I think that's really just a matter of perspective. Because of the locations some may sound louder than others...that's not to say certain ones are louder/quieter, but just location could make a difference, like if it's higher up (Gatekeeper over the entrance) or right next to you (Mantis first drop), or even the surrounding buildings that echo the sound to amplify it...It's also hard to tell because most wing riders are filled with sand. I can't imagine it would be any different since it's just the same amount of wheels rolling over the track at a similar speed. I hope it's just as loud as Raptor, or at least enough to compete! -

Here is that video mentioning the train lights. No details unfortunately. Still informative about queue location and other things. -
Some kinds of screaming I understand, and some I don't. If someone screams because they're excited and having a good time, I love that! If someone screams because they are legitimately fearing for their life, that's great! If someone screams obscenities and pretends they're scared when really they're just a dumbass...I can't stand that. I also love getting whole trains of people super hyped about the ride and screaming in excitement!

That is an accurate depiction of the human race, unfortunately. -
^That is incorrect. There is no friction involved on Wicked Twister, the train is actually stopped by the LIMs. What happens is the magnetic brakes outside the station slow it down to a low speed, then the LIMs basically drag it back. The way the LIMs stop the train is basically by moving the magnetic field in the direction opposing the direction the train is moving. When the train is parking, the LIMs basically balance the forward/backward propulsion so that it slows down just enough to stop right where it is supposed to. What ultimately stops the train is simply friction; once the LIMs power down, the train is moving around 1in/s. Perhaps what you were thinking of is the harness release contact plates, which make a loud slapping noise onto the trains as the harnesses release. There is another Intamin inverted coaster that does use friction brakes in the station, and that's Volcano at KD. There are friction brakes actually above the track that clamp onto fins protruding from the wheel bogeys.

Both LIMs and LSMs can move from a dead standstill. Examples: Superman: EFK, Halfpipe, Inverted Impulse coasters, Rock N Roller coaster, Premier Spaghetti Bowls...the idea is that they both generate a moving magnetic field, and a moving field generated can move anything from a dead standstill, regardless of LIM or LSM. I'm assuming there is something regarding timing or energy usage that Intamin preferred to use drive tires previous to launches with their blitz coasters. It saves a lot of energy. As far as magnetic brakes, it's a completely different concept. The brakes work by generating eddy currents in the fins by moving a magnet near them. These eddy currents are only generated with a moving magnetic field, and therefore are only generated when an object is in motion, and these eddy currents generate a magnetic field directly opposing the direction of movement. Basically, the faster the magnet is moving, the stronger the eddy currents are, and alternately, as the speed approaches 0, the strength of the eddy currents approaches 0 as well. Random fun fact: Impulse coasters do not have brakes in the station, they are held there simply with gravity during loading.
