I would think widening a turn would be the easiest modification they could make to the ride. All you would have to do is stretch the transitions and it would fit right in. And I think an overbank would be the hardest thing to do. It would require making another crap load of supports, making a lot more track, and dealing with a lot more forces rather than just basic lats. If they simply widen the turn, they could easily just use the supports they already have, just move them and maybe add three or four more. Overbanks have a completely different geometry in all 3 dimensions from a flat turn, it would be ridiculous, really... ^Making a flat turn clothoid doesn't decrease forces. The point of a clothoid is that the track is changing vertically and the speed of the train is decreasing and increasing relative to gravity. Gravity doesn't change anything in a flat turn.

We have a Formula Rossa thread in the forum if you want to complain about trims. I don't think that is needed here. -

Something I just realized about this coaster...weight would actually make a huge difference in the speed of the ride. Not because of the launch, but because of the brakes. With magnetic brakes, it naturally takes a longer amount of time to stop a loaded train, but the launch is always consistent. No matter the weight in the train, Intamin rockets always launch the train at a consistent speed. So in FR's case, it always gets to 150mph, but doesn't always slow down to 90mph (or however fast it is going over the first hill). A fully loaded train could create quite a variance in speed from an empty one, changing the way videos would appear to portray the ride. Just a thought... -
What are you thankful for...

I am thankful for tpr because without it, I would know absolutely nothing about roller coasters! I am also thankful for Intamin, because I am a fanboy happy thanksgiving everyone! -

Not to mention the train would probably breeze right through the brakes and probably crash into a train in the station which would kill you, assuming taking the turns after the brake run up to speed doesn't kill you first (assuming you're not already dead). -

Who said this thing doesn't have airtime? This amateur pov shows quite a bit of airtime on the last few hills too: -

Yes, the catchcar brakes do drop. This is true of every rocket coaster. -

I want to see moving/swaying track. Coasters in real live move around a lot (i.e. Wicked Twister). Two train dispatch stations would be awesome, too! I think the block system should be much more advanced. Modern day coasters move trains around much more efficiently than just the simple block systems in NL1. I think there should be triggers (basically like proxy sensors) you can place along the track that release certain blocks or stop certain blocks. The block system that's implemented is just too frustrating when trying to recreate real coasters, especially Intamins. -

^^^ ^^I guess they must have figured the winds in the front seat were intense enough, but the back seats were ok...? -
Just to clear all of the speculation up; RMCC has added their newest invention to the new Giant. I'm not quite sure how it works, but they call it "guide wheels" or something of the sort. They say they could make sure the train doesn't move sideways off the track. It seems like a long shot, but I hope this new idea works! It could bode well for people who dislike riding over bolts. I highly doubt any company in their right mind would engineer a coaster to mess up purposely (excluding Intamin in some cases...) ^^I am excited to see this start testing too, that first drop should be quite a thriller!

I think the entire park is just a conspiracy, and later another car company is going to make a theme park where they don't trim their coasters, and more people are going to buy those cars instead. Nobody wants a car with brakes -

I think where the disappointment comes in is that we've all been hyped up over the prospect of "world's fastest coaster" for quite some time now and then we find out that you're at the record-breaking speed for a very, very, short time before hitting a slew of trims. I think that there would be widespread disappointment to find that any new coaster is trimmed to death before it even opens, but to hype it as the world's fastest and then slow it WAY down right after it gets up speed is beyond disappointing, it's sacrilege. Also, those huge sweeping turns make it look like the thing is designed to run at full speed. Too bad it doesn't. I thought everybody knew it was going to be trimmed before it opened...? Interesting how the speculation seems to have begun after people see videos of it in action. People don't seem to realize that faster coasters have to be larger. If a train is traveling at 100mph, a 4g turn would have around a 160ft radius, which is actually pretty huge. If it wasn't trimmed, we'd probably see a lot if I305 type of things happening. That's just what you get when you are dealing with these kinds of speeds. Also, I don't see why trims automatically equals evil...sometimes rides are just designed to have trims in them. Maverick is only at 70mph for a brief amount of time, and I never hear anyone complaining about it. The hill near the end of I305 always had trims on it, and no one ever said the ride sucked because of it. Even after the trimmed the drop, people were still in awe. And if you're disappointed that it only goes at top speed for a short amount of time, look at the other strata coasters. (^)TTD and KK are only at top speed for maybe 1 or 2 seconds. They don't hit an army of trims, they just hit a huge tower instead. Not to mention that if they hadn't designed trims into the ride, the accommodating track would be quite expensive and would require a lot more property which FW does not have. -
I think the key to using Newton 2 is a gradual knowledge curve. You can't expect to be able to do everything all at once because you don't know how the forces work or how they will affect the track shape. If you are trying to do something specific with Newton 2 and don't know how, then forget it. Just play around with it until you get a feel for what you can do to manipulate the track. Then you can use your own powers to create the kind of elements you want to. I don't think it's helpful at all to try to get advice from others about this program because that's just their own interpretation. It takes a lot more tweaking and precision testing to make accurate elements.

Videos About Coasters.
coasterlover420 replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember some time in the early 2000's there was this huge coaster marathon on Discovery Channel and I recorded all of them to DVD. There was around 5 or 6 hours of coaster footage. These were the shows: The Making of a Coaster (Lightning Racer & Steel Dragon 2000 featured) Scream Parks (SFMM featured) Extreme Rides Thrill Rides Put to the Test Extreme Rides 2000 Extreme Rides 2003 There was also this one Cedar Point video online that I found once but I think the link has since been removed. It was a 2003 vid and was set to "Heaven" by DJ Sammy, and I never stopped watching that video...the CP video that was on here was one of my favorites too. -
