  1. It wouldn't matter to me anyways. It would, however, mean more money for my employer and the industry as a whole...so I'm all for it!
  2. There's no such thing as a full-time seasonal employee at SFMM. Or being "layed-off" for that matter. If I remember right, SFMM has a contract with some company that specializes in finding international college students studying in fields where working in an American theme park can be beneficial to them. They come from different countries every year, though Thailand seems to be more common now (mine were from Russia when I worked there). The agreement basically says "we'll give them at least X amount of hours a week and provide them housing (which they pay rent for)." But the hours are really no different than what a "normal" employee would get.
  3. And... thats a problem why? ~Matthew *Is still getting the sets* Stout You do realize it is going to take lots of time, effort, patients, and space to build a model on that scale right?
  4. So after the TPR meet @ SFA weekend, I had about a 1/2 day to kill before my flight home from BWI. So I decided to take the train to Downtown. First thing I did was a tour of Camden Yards. Then went to Inner Harbor (those pics coming later). Nice Stadium...makes me less opposed to a new Dodger stadium. More random Camden pictures and Inner Harbor stuff later. One half of a luxury box. Since I'm Jewish, I'll probably be able to afford this someday Since I hate english classes, this is as close as I'll ever be to an MLB pressbox. The managers view...it's very exciting. Or something. Since Jews don't play sports, this is as close as I'll ever be to a MLB dugout. ZOMgZ...the dugout as you've never seen it before! (this is the first place they take you on the tour) The scoreboard. I would make a joke about the O's sucking ass, but saying "HAHA...the Yankees are sucking ass" is much more enjoyable This is the street between the Warehouse building and the stadium. Exciting, no? The train drops you off right outside Camden Yards. Curse you LA for not having good public transportation! It's the train. Curse you LA for not having good public transportation!
  5. ^Did you by any chance read "Game of Shadows"? Great book. Even if he wasn't on steriods...he's a huge douchebag. I've heard stories of his dad having to apologize to a little kid because Barry completely ignored him.
  6. 1. F*ck that Ice Age ride! It cost us a credit! 2. F*ck that Alien Volcano ride. Stupid ride hiding all the soakness (for lack of a better term) for the darkride part.
  7. I spotted a coaster on the way up to Westlake today...guess this is what it is. Yay for credits!
  8. I was thinking "Even though Paul already stated the obvious, I have lots of posts and have been asking for awhile, so my title should be changed right now!"?
  9. ^They're not spending money...the Dubai developers are paying them to build it.
  10. ^And Bush planned 9/11. Note: not trying to make the discussion a political discussion. Just pointing out the ridiculous nature of that post. Me personally? I'm all for a 2.2 billion dollar Universal park. Once Dubailand is complete, I defnitely want to visit.
  11. That's reassuring...
  12. Michael Moore should fall in a hole and get stuck.
  13. Nothing is better than Barry's Dutch Wonderland video.
  14. ^^Where did you hear that? The press release made it pretty clear both attractions are opening for Spring 2008...
  15. It's a GCI, so...not so much. Sucks, too, since airtime is the one thing keeping GCI rides from being REALLY good. They got the whole speed/twists/lateral forces/comfy trains thing nailed.
  16. Colossus layout+Intamin pre-fab track= EVERY woodie should be redone as an Intamin pre-fab woodie. Seriously.
  17. They should both be open by Spring 2008.
  18. El Toro. Balder. Colossos. Since I won't be riding them again anytime soon...for my intents and purposes they are gone. And they're completely amazingly awesome.
  19. Nice time I see you, remind me to punch you in the face. Ten times. Then you'll know what Great American Scream Machine feels like.
  20. ^El Toro. Twisty crap at the end with no airtime (El Toro) > Middle section of bunny hills with no airtime (Colossos).
  21. I applied for a job as a PA for BET once. I didn't get it. It must have been because I'm white. Damn it's tough to be white.
  22. $2 or $3 for a one-time use locker? I thought BGT was obnoxious with their .25 or .50 cent lockers. That's ridiculous.
  23. ^Yeah...heard it was for a video shoot. They are an awesome live band.
  24. ^Whomever SFMM contracted to do the work on X's trains after the first extended downtime (rumored to be B&M) added the additional weight.
  25. ...and become a ride operator. Seriously. There's no better advice to give than that. I'm sure if they took a survey of theme park managers, I'm guessing at least 60% of them would have either worked their way up within their company or had experience with other parks before landing their current jobs. If nothing else, you'll find out if that's what you really want to do. Because I guarantee you it's completely different than what you imagine it to be, for better and for worse.
