Universal Studios Hollywood
Jew replied to PirateTinkerbell's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, but it's still two different 1/2's. You shouldn't have been able to use single rider. -
It's not attempted murder if he didn't go in with the intention of killing the guy. And throwing a cup of ice is technically assault, so 2 years may not have been far fetched depending on the damage done to the victim. It'll be interesting to see what Disney does. I believe costumed characters at WDW are covered by AGVA, so the guy will have a powerful union backing him.

^How did you get you and your draconian half through the single rider line? Besides...single rider is only available on Mummy and JP. And it's not always operating. -

I think it's just a tad bit early to be thinking about a trip that there isn't even dates set for yet... -

Wow! German Tom is alive! -
So I had the fabled Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale on tap at Magnolia on lake (http://www.magnoliaonlake.com/) in Pasadena. I don't like dark beers at all, but that was good stuff. I had some Paulaner Heff too. Also good.

So it's a rehash of Project Greenlight. Yay? -
RETARD That's always fun to say.

^^Long gone are the days of "people waiting to take your place." There's very few entry level theme park jobs that are in high demand (USH studio tour guide and entertainment department jobs are all I can really think of...) It's just a problem that's 100000x worse because of the awful management, low pay, lack of extra benefits, etc. that SFMM has had for so long.

^You'll get between 2-2 1/2 hours of "behind the scenes" stuff.
-
^99? It's more like 1,454,879,234.27 more things to do before the park is up to par. But do give them credit for actually finishing a project instead of stopping half way through for budget reason. Lets see if they keep it up...which I still doubt once summer rolls around and the costs of opening the park every day also go up. But at least they started.

Plus your guide will include some shows (probably T2 and Water World) as part of the tour. You'll be fine.

If you have the money to spare, I'd definitely recommend the VIP tour. You get a guide that will plan your day and make sure you get on everything (plus share fun facts at each show/attraction), a 2-2 1/2 hour tram tour that includes all the attractions stuff+getting to walk around the studio (when I took it, we went on the Crossing Jordan set, the New York backlot sets, a mixing theater, and some other stuff), and free drinks/snacks in a private lounge while you wait for your tour to start. If you can find a flight into Burbank airport, you're only about 10 minutes from USH. I've stayed at the Universal Hilton twice with no problems yet. That's on property and just a short walk (or shuttle ride) to the park. I've also stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel, which is about a 5 minute drive from the park. (it's also located a block from Hollywood Blvd. if you're into that touristy stuff). Really nice hotel (all rooms are suites) for the price. One day will be plenty.

Your favorite/best looking park entrance!
Jew replied to zingo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Knott's entrance was cool before Cedar Fair bastardized it and got kid of the neon sign. They also used to do a new Haunt sign to place over the neon sign (which always had some cool art) every year too... Oh well... Anyways, I'll go with USH, IoA, or DCA. -
It looks like they are working with a giant piece of flat land, so I don't think getting the ride up quickly will be a problem. Remember how fast Scream went up? I'm thinking that there might be more issues here though. I remember when they were first clearing the land, they ran into an old sewage pipe when they were digging and seemed a bit confused about it. So there could be something more that is holding the construction up.

Goliath vs. Expedition Geforce
Jew replied to Janster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^"Since when is airtime the only factor?"=You trying to be sly about not liking EGF. Seriously. You haven't even been on Goliath, yet you have no problem proclaiming that you'd "probably" like it more. LAAAME. -
As far as I know, the scarab scenes are identical. Nope. He has it right. Well...half right. Hollywood doesn't have the "real" scarabs pouring out in front. It's projectors and the feet ticklers instead.

Sitting on S:TE's launch for up to an hour with no shade is not exactly my idea of fun. But to each his own... -
^^^^^You mean the law enforcement agency that shut down the city over a bad viral marketing campaign featuring a cartoon character they probably could have read all about on the internet (or even recognized on their own) shouldn't have some of the blame? I don't think it was wrong for initially considering it a suspicious object, but it seems to me like there was no care taken in assessing the threat. Granted I am no police officer, but if I got a report regarding a suspcious item on the bridge...I would be doing some freaking research while I am considering all my options. Of course it is always better to be safe than sorry, but you have got to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise all a terrorist will have to do is call in a bunch of threats to do as much damage (getting airpots, freeways, ports, etc. shut down can not be good for our economy. Not to mention all the law enforcement resources that have to get tied up...) as a real terrorist attack! But I also understand it is not as easy as that. Closing all the stuff down in response to a bunch of suspicous items being reported is the safe move. But taking so long to figure out it was just misguided marketing campaign IS ridiculous.
