  1. ^The movie fad may die, but the comics have been around for quite some time. There's tons of source material.
  2. ITAL has one listed for sale that is being stored in TN...I'm guessing that might be the one they purchased.
  3. Trapped - The VIP Maze Location: Lazer Tag in between the Arcade and Johnny Rocket's. Trapped will not feature any kind of light weapon, lazer gun or anything to protect you from the terror inside. You will be completely on your own and at the mercy of the diabolical horror of the maze.
  4. The fact that even the arena management is changing hands should speak volumes as to why this deal fell through. Then again, in general, any appointed "boards" are basically just politicians awarding their dumb friends with high priced government jobs.
  5. ^They'd have to find somewhere else for it. The show building was torn up pretty good to make room for all the ventilation for Johnny Rockets.
  6. I don't know how involved you have ever been with a rides opening, but let me tell you something I have learned from being involved with ride openings: unforeseen things can and usually do happen. You can be on schedule one day, then a week behind the next due to the smallest thing you discover during testing. There are literally millions of variables involved with rides, and it is impossible to predict every scenario. For all we know, the June 30th date did include a cushion. Side note: while I enjoy bashing SFMM as much as the rest of us (and do think that the person in charge of construction at SFMM should be held accountable), it amazes me how much more backlash the park gets than others over this ride. I don't recall any bitching that WindSeeker opened in August in a different location than was originally announced for its "spring 2011" scheduled opening at KBF. Get over it guys. This is fairly common in this industry. And I am going to make an educated guess that this thread would also be full bickering if the ride did open on time, but spent more time down for technical problems than actually open.
  7. Six Flags clearly has the same resources as Disney, so that's a totally fair comparison. But lets play the Disney comparison game: Carsland opened on time, but Radiator Springs Racers is having a bunch of downtime. I bet you'd still complain if Lex Luthor opened on time, but you was down so much you missed your chance to ride. So what's worse? It's no win for the park either way, so might as well make sure they are as prepared as possible. Bottom line: it's a brand new ride, that is basically a prototype. Sh*t happens. Deal with it.
  8. I'm sure the park intended to delay the ride. They obviously wanted to f*ck with everyone and delay the grand opening on purpose. After all, stuff never happens to new rides that causes them to fall behind schedule. And TV/Radio/Print ads can all be changed/updated/purchased overnight, so SFMM was totally out of line for advertising when they intended to open the ride.
  9. Wait, Georgia Tech has a football team? D-line and RB are talented, but light...USC is pretty stacked everywhere else with mostly underclassmen. And for the record: the 2010-2011 season was the only season out of the last 10 USC wasn't in the top 25. Pete Carroll's final season was the only time they weren't in the top 10 for that matter. Did Tennessee even make it into the "others receiving votes" category during that time?
  10. I don't know how familiar you are with Mazes and Haunts, but they are generally pretty low capacity. Continuously moving dark ride vehicles move a lot faster than terrified teenage girl legs. There's no reason a haunted house can't get 1,800-2,000pph if it is designed right.
  11. Love that Europe parks can get away with doing so much cool stuff! Awesome update.
  12. Here's the thing about Lane Kiffin: he definitely comes off as a douche, but he can also definitely coach at the college level. He's smart enough to surround himself with good assistants, has a good offensive mind (save for his love of the bubble screen), and can definitely recruit. Oh, his wife is ridiculously hot too. Besides, who wouldn't leave Tennessee for USC? There's only a handful of coaching jobs with as much prestige in college as USC. Tennessee just likes to think they are in that tier.
  13. Despite the NCAA's best efforts, USC will have something to say about that!
  14. Staal wasn't going to re-sign to stay a 3rd line center.
  15. ^I don't know how you're trying to interpret my comments, so maybe I should be more clear: absolutely nothing disappointed me about the area or the ride. Just because it was not as thrilling as Test Track or doesn't feature a "HOLY SH*T" moment doesn't mean it is not a great ride that was still very enjoyable and impressive. But that debate is done...there's really nothing more anyone can add to that discussion. No need to drag that discussion on any further. So, yeah...about those Matterhorn seats...
  16. Rode today...My thoughts are this: it's visually stunning. The rock work and animatronics are top notch. I definitely enjoyed it as a theme park nerd. However, I agree that it is missing a "OMFG WOW" moment to really set it apart. But if you liked the movie (as I did), you'll definitely enjoy the ride. It's fun and well done. The windshield eye wraps are not short people friendly: with the darker show lighting inside the show building, I couldn't see anything in front of me clearly. The land itself is definitely the most detailed of any Disney land outside of TDS. It is smaller than pictures make it look. Crowd control in the area is messy. The true star of DCA 2.0 is the Carthay Circle restaurant. Not only is the food delicious, it is one of the most immersive environments found in any Disney park. You are definitely taken back to the 1930's when inside that place.
  17. I'm glad Comcast sees the value in the theme park business and is aggressively expanding!
  18. Great coverage! Can't wait to check out the park tomorrow!
  19. I think it's less what Disney has in store and more what the writer hopes they have in store, but I think we can all agree that he's right. The park still has some work to do, but this expansion and reinvention process was a huge step in the right direction. It wasn't the Disney park it should've been a decade ago, but I think that within the next decade it could be a contender for one of the best, balancing some great themed areas and a larger number of attractions than the WDW parks supporting MK. If I was in charge, I would be looking at seeing what can be done to continue to transform the whole property into a resort. Continue getting strong tenants for Downtown Disney, renovate the Paradise Pier hotel into a true Disney deluxe property, and look at ways to continue to improve the infrastructure (parking and narrow pathways inside Disneyland especially) to handle the larger crowds. Rides wise, I think Disneyland is now overdue for something before going back to DCA. They can ride this revamp for at least a few years.
  20. ^Old DCA=Son of Beast; New DCA=Millenium Force. I'm still confused as to why the DCA makeover is not money well spent. They've managed re-invent the park: no more bad press and negative reviews. Meanwhile, attendance and revenue have just kept going up with no end in sight according to many Wall Street analysts.
  21. Blue Fall. Scared the sh*t out of me. Got off and I was shaking a little.
  22. ^I don't think anybody really cares that you are not praising Carsland. Rather, I think people are questioning your comments about the target demographic and your prediction the area will not be a success.
  23. The billion dollar figure includes everything they've done over the last five years: Carsland, Buena Vista Street, Paradise Pier overhaul, Midway Mania, Little Mermaid, and, World of Color. Judging by the fact that Disney theme park revenue and attendance keep rising, I'd say it's worked out quite well for the company.
